Maybe the no gifts rule might apply to the likes of William and Harry or the Yorks/Wessexes but Zara isn't technically a member of the royal family, is she? So perhaps she and Mike are just tight! Grin

I wonder if it's to prevent people from inviting them to things to get a big present! I can understand why William has always been more protected than Harry. He is going to be King one day, Harry isn't.

The Sussexes' schedule for next months tour has been announced.

I must admit that I am loving all the gossip on this thread hangs head in shame and scrolls back to look at all the dresses

user1457017537 · 10/09/2018 13:14

Well anything can and does happen. I believe QEll didn’t expect to be Queen.

PH is a different character though and isn’t as reserved.

user1457017537 · 10/09/2018 13:15

Quite a nice tour wouldn’t mind doing that myself

VanillaSugary · 10/09/2018 13:16

OMG Rotarua stinks of rotten eggs. It has huge sulphur pools and is a popular tourist destination so watch those royal noses! 🤢😷😷GrinGrin

Jackietheduck · 10/09/2018 13:51

There was something published (unofficially) about MM’s mum relocating to the UK to live with Harry and Meghan. Wonder if there is any truth in it?

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 10/09/2018 16:53

Royal tour looks like great fun. I wonder whether Meghan will slip into some tropical clothes and let her hair go curly like Kate did

QueenOfTheAndals · 10/09/2018 17:03

If she's had it permanently relaxed then I don't think it will. Kate's is just a good blow dry and GHDs, I don't think she straightens it chemically.

That's a fast tour! Only 2 weeks ish to do 4 countries on the other side of the world. Not much time for shopping...

neffall · 10/09/2018 20:11

Nope, no time for shopping. But just think of all those marvellous gifts they're going to receive, like a Kava bowl complete with spit Grin

neffall · 10/09/2018 20:14

Hope this link works Kava

Quantumblue · 11/09/2018 00:01

It is going to be an interesting tour. Think I am at work the day she is in Melbourne.
The no presents thing is awful. Do you think it applies if George gets invited to a classmate's party? Kate has to quietly convey to the mother 'We don't do presents'.

Cornwall73 · 11/09/2018 06:37

Even if they don’t give would they expect presents in return?e.g. George has a birthday party

lightonthewater · 11/09/2018 08:17

Good point. I suppose not! Although it's not like they are in need of anything, is it?

ISendNoComplimentsToYourMother · 11/09/2018 08:21

I’m sure I read somewhere that the Royals give each other small gifts at Christmas.

Apparently Diana made a faux pax & bought everyone expensive gifts at her first Christmas with the inlaws.

So maybe they just aren’t into presents.

QueenOfTheAndals · 11/09/2018 08:22

If I was invited to George's party I'd go and stock up on tat from the local pound shop for him. It'd be such a novelty that he'd probably play with it for weeks!

OP posts:
QueenOfTheAndals · 11/09/2018 08:34

I've heard that people from around the world send birthday presents to the Queen etc and they are all put on a bonfire and burned as a) she doesn't need them and b) she can't give them to charity or regift!

OP posts:
QueenOfTheAndals · 11/09/2018 09:51

Two-part BBC doc on Princess Margaret starts tonight...

OP posts:
CurlyWurlyTwirly · 11/09/2018 12:25

I have heard about giving each other joke presents like a doormat or a loo seat.
Burning all the unwanted presents is just shit
Can they not just give them away, even to a charity shop.

delphguelph · 11/09/2018 12:34

Nobody really knows if she is a qualified equine physiotherapist although wiki says she is but she herself said in an interview she wanted to do physiotherapy but didn’t have the grades for it but she did do a horse massage course.

Sorry but Grin

delphguelph · 11/09/2018 12:35

^^

Chuck in a few Fruit shoots, Greg's pasty's and pom bears and he'd be a happy chappie

ajandjjmum · 11/09/2018 14:04

I've never heard about the Queen burning presents - sounds unbelievable - surely they could be anonymously donated to a charity shop.Hmm

QueenOfTheAndals · 11/09/2018 14:09

It was something I read years ago - probably entirely made up!
