Oh dear, this just smacks of keeping up with the Sussexes.

I was kidding about 599 of the guests being Harry’s.!

Absolutely Zara got where she is from being royalty. I assumed everyone knew that. Obviously she is a skilled rider but with the very best horses, trainers, opportunities and contacts many others could accomplish what she has accomplished.

A lot of what we know about her (and the majority of royals) is sketchy. Nobody really knows if she is a qualified equine physiotherapist although wiki says she is but she herself said in an interview she wanted to do physiotherapy but didn’t have the grades for it but she did do a horse massage course.

I suppose it is unusual to have literally only one family member at a wedding!
Talking of Royal occupations, the Earl of Ulster is married to a consultant paediatrician! Now that's a rarity in the Windsor clan!

user1457017537 · 09/09/2018 17:28

Zara comes across as very nice although it has been said that her and her husband are fully aware of their royal connection and they are not quite as casual about it as they appear.

beanaseireann · 09/09/2018 17:45

Piers Morgan was on the Late Late Show on Friday ( RTE 1 television- Irish) and apparently said MM was a social climber. He's been dropped .
I didn't see tv myself. Media reports.

Jackietheduck · 09/09/2018 17:56

Just read the report of that interview. Anyone who is not royalty and marries into royalty will be called a social climber.

I didnt have much time for PM before but from the report of this interview and what he said in it, MM was well advised to drop all contact with him. PM is incredibly stupid to publicly prove how correct they were not to trust him.

I used to know someone who was good friends with Zara and Mike. Apparently if you invite them to a wedding , party or whatever they make it clear they won't be giving presents. It's a rule apparently. She said Zara was a lovely person. She has also been at events with Kate and William, and said they acted in a very standoffish way, pushing ahead of others to get on a bus provided for guests, and generally acting like entitled toffs. I was quite surprised by that as K and W seem pretty down to earth. She said Harry was quite the opposite, very unassuming, easy to get on with and not up himself at all.

Jackietheduck · 09/09/2018 18:11

I expected William to be exactly like that. He comes across as very entitled and superior. Kate, just by being with him, would be similar.

QueenOfTheAndals · 09/09/2018 19:58

Sounds like a convenient rule made up by misers!

What rule stops them sticking fifty quid in a card Confused

mathanxiety · 09/09/2018 20:04

A funfair theme - well that sounds classy, tasteful...

Clionba · 09/09/2018 20:12

What funfair theme? Have I missed something?

dinosaurkisses · 09/09/2018 20:13

@Clionba Allegedly Eugenie’s wedding theme is fun fair

WipsGlitter · 09/09/2018 20:14

Well it's a post wedding party then next day to be fair!!

Clionba · 09/09/2018 20:20

Ah! Thank you! I have read that the party is costing £100k, which again shades Harry and Meghan Wink

UrsulaPandress · 09/09/2018 20:35

The most expensive horse in the world couldn't get me round Badminton Hmm

Jackietheduck · 09/09/2018 21:00

Well if you were on it from the age of three and had your own pony along with one to one coaching from the very best of coaches, then got numerous opportunities to events, had hundreds of thousands even millions to spend on the best horses, I’d hazard a guess you’d do ok.

theboxofdelights · 09/09/2018 21:20

Not really Jackie (and I am not a royalist). You need balls, feel, intuition and determination.

All the tea in China can't buy what you need to ride at ZP's level.

Clionba · 09/09/2018 21:25

Some good points, Jackie, but she was an Olympic silver medallist.

lightonthewater · 09/09/2018 21:34

I think the no present thing is just rude - as if the presence of a Royal personage is reward enough!

user1457017537 · 09/09/2018 21:53

I heard that all William’s friends have been handpicked since nursery. Harry on the other hand was always friendly

evilharpy · 09/09/2018 21:55

lightonthewater I know a few people who know Zara and Mike (him more so than her) through having kids at the same school etc and they all say that they are lovely and just completely normal.

VanillaSugary · 09/09/2018 22:18

Maybe the No Present rule is to stop people from flogging them on EBay.

beanaseireann · 10/09/2018 07:27

We don't give gifts. Zara and Mike. Shock
Misers.

FlamingJuno · 10/09/2018 07:39

Having been on the eventing circuit with ZP, We were always surprised that she didn't have the best horses and wondered why not. She's never had a top horse sent to her by an owner and her two best horses, Toytown and High Kingdom, were "made" by her. Toytown less so as he was already established at Intermediate when she got him.
She had a huge advantage in being trained by her parents and that's likely the difference, along with a competitive nature and big match temperament. BUT, yes, she is very aware of who she is, she is very protected by her circle of friends in the game, she IS given preferential treatment in regard to stabling etc and she is utterly fawned over by the press, which is why she gets the big sponsorships. Cake, eaten.
