I get married in 4 months. Bought a gorgeous dress when I was still losing baby weight and Ive got as far as I can go and my ribcage just wont fit the dress.

I dont have much money left in the wedding budget for a replacement dress (the other dress has been up for sale since January and haven't had any luck selling it)/

These are the 3 I think might be ok.

Im 5ft 4, suit skater styles since having a baby as tummy not great, im a size 12/14 pear shape.

Ive always wanted a bit of lace which is part of the reason Ive chosen these.
I didnt want anything low cut or too revealing up top.

Id always fancied a pink dress (its my second wedding), so the long white one is a bit of a wildcard for me.

Please help!

I'm not sure if anyone has asked (long thread, impatient me!) but are you absolutely sure you can't get your original dress altered? I'm in a similar situation with my dress and I'm having a ribbon lace back put in to accommodate my massive breast feeding tits! A good seamstress can do wonders!

userofthiswebsite · 12/07/2018 22:34

all lovely

Dodie66 · 12/07/2018 22:37

1st one is best. The long white one might show up your tummy. Can’t you get the original dress altered?

springmachine · 12/07/2018 22:40

I haven't visited a seamstress yet.

My boobs (which I didn't think were massive) seem to just overflow the original dress.

No idea what kind of magic they would have to pull off for it to work.

I haven't tried it on in months.

Il try it on again this weekend with a second pair of eyes to help

And I've just ordered 5 more chi chi dresses.
Thank goodness for pay after delivery 😆

I really like the 1st and 3rd. I think the middle one looks like a suitable dress for a guest rather than a bride.

LuMarie · 12/07/2018 22:51

Oh the first one is gorgeous.

One of the pink ones definitely, the skirts material on the second one is lovely.

Pink is very chic and on trend for weddings dresses now, as are those lengths. You'd look more fancy and classy to me n those styles that traditional, I think guests will love seeing something a little less same. They definitely don't look inexpensive!

LuMarie · 12/07/2018 22:53

Oh also the last one in the latest set, that's really lovely!

Dreamy bride chic

Loving the pink/blush choices:)

LucyFox · 12/07/2018 22:57

Number 2 is a bit more sophisticated whereas number 1 is quite young & girly ... number 3 I don’t think suits your needs from what you have said

Dodie66 · 12/07/2018 23:20

Post a pic of you in the original dress. A seamstress might have some good ideas to help you get a good fit. Good luck

neveradullmoment99 · 12/07/2018 23:30

I love the third one. It is so elegant. It also looks expensive. The other two are lovely but quite honestly I think they look much cheaper.

neveradullmoment99 · 12/07/2018 23:32

Sorry, the third one in the first set. In the other set the first one. Not keen at all on the other two.

Ohyesiam · 12/07/2018 23:34

Hi op , you and o are a similar shape. I find empire line is really flattering. Have you given it a go?

PlatypusPie · 12/07/2018 23:44

Chi Chi are very hit and miss - my DD tried them for bridesmaid dresses and they varied inconsistency- from one style that was utterly unlike the photo in colour and very cheap and nasty looking through to another style that was elegant and in nice fabric- a real bargain if it had suited all the bridesmaids. She went with ASOS, with a discount code, in the end. .

luckycat007 · 13/07/2018 01:45

One one one!!!! 👌🏻👍🏻

springmachine · 14/07/2018 08:52

I tried on my old dress again today.

It's very close to doing up but the zip is about a cm apart up the top.

Here's a photo to show the back.

Do you think anything could be done?

regularbutpanickingabit · 14/07/2018 09:02

Yes! They can put a panel in the back and change the zip to a better fastening. If the rest fits well and you still love it (looks gorgeous in that pic) then find a decent local seamstress.

springmachine · 14/07/2018 09:03

It's such beautiful fabric. It's so lacy and beaded with crystals and pearls. It seems special, but I can imagine what fastening that they could replace it with?
I don't like the idea of a corset back

mydogisthebest · 14/07/2018 09:06

I like the first one the most. It's a gorgeous dress

mydogisthebest · 14/07/2018 09:08

That should have been the first one in the first set of photos.

I don't like any of the last 3. The first one looks like a nightie

ByTheSea · 14/07/2018 09:11

I like the first one best, although like all three

MrsPeacockDidIt · 14/07/2018 10:00

I bought a wedding dress off the rack but it wouldn’t do up at the back (zip) but a seamstress made a triangle panel and turned it into a corset back so it fitted perfectly and meant that I didn’t have to worry about fluctuations in boob size leading up to big day.

springmachine · 14/07/2018 14:13

I've just popped it into the local alterations place and they don't think it can be done 🤔

OP posts:
ElfrideSwancourt · 14/07/2018 15:29

Have you tried an independent seamstress? I've just had sleeves made bigger on a dress with gauze and sequin overdress and she did an amazing job, beautiful French seams and v reasonable.

theredjellybean · 14/07/2018 17:09

Have you tried some really serious shape wear underneath?
I wear a lot of what Katie did vintage style shape wear which is not onky very effective at shape but very pretty and sexy if you like tgat kind of look.
It would certainly sort out your issue
