Go for it! No question too silly.......

I totally get how intimidating some counters can be ! Plus I've gone "undercover" recently and gone for a few free makeovers and have wanted to cry when I see myself after and am determined to never make any of my clients or models feel like that.......

I'm not promising I'm a miracle worker but I've got a few years of experience in lots of fields of MUA so if I can help I will x

Ps I think you should start the thread off lovely battleax! X

i have been useing brown eye pencil under lower eye lashes for years, i am 58, if i stop and put eyeliner on upper lid instead, because i have hooded eyes you cant see the line, what should i do?.

imsconequeen · 03/07/2018 21:22

Hi Lindy......do you feel you need the eyeliner under the eye? Is it all the way or just at edges? It can sometimes be a little bit ageing and make eyes look smaller.......

You know when you do a feline flick in the inner corner- what on earth do you use so it doesn't smudge or crumble or generally look rubbish?!

Tried liquid eyeliner, normal eyeliner, sponge tipped ones... No luck.

Also- any long lasting bright lipstick, already use a lipcote, but the second I eat/ drink anything it rubs off.

I thought I'd lost this thread!

Thanks so much for the advice, @imsconequeen
It's much appreciated. I'll start looking for a peach toned concealer right now........

OrcinusOrca · 04/07/2018 08:27

@dameofdilemma I found dermablend super cakey and really bad for my eczema skin. Based on this thread and @imsconequeen 's advice I bought L'Oréal true match in the palest shade they do and I am very impressed so far! This is the third work day of working it and I am not in the midst of a chin break out so it hasn't had to endure that, but I really rate it so far. Goes on really light and I make sure not to put a great deal on and thus far it isn't emphasising the dryness on my cheeks as much as the likes of dermablend and No7.

lindyloo57 · 04/07/2018 08:31

Thanks for your advice, will try just at edges, after 30 years it will take a while to get used to it.

AltogetherAndrews · 04/07/2018 09:26

Can I ask what to use for dark under eyes if you are allergic to touché eclat? I have dry pale skin, and everything I try ends up settling in the creases, which aren’t particularly noticeable before makeup. I feel like I have to choose between looking exhausted or wrinkled!

dameofdilemma · 04/07/2018 11:08

Orcinus - I find I can only use foundation if I mix it with my usual moisturiser first. In Winter I even have to pat more moisturiser on top after applying.
Even the richest foundations (supposedly) designed for dry skin feel too dry for me.

AuntyJackiesBrothersSistersBoy · 04/07/2018 11:44

I’m 55. Recently notice some sag in cheek area. Have bought a NuFace massager thingy. I know it’s not cosmetic advice but....do you think they work, as an aid, or is it wishful thinking?

IknowIWBUbut · 04/07/2018 14:10

Currently RTFT so sorry if these have already been asked!

  1. What colours would you go for in the daytime and night time for hazel eyes? (more green than brown).

And

  1. How would you make small-ish eyes look bigger?
IknowIWBUbut · 04/07/2018 14:10

OP can you stay on this thread forever? I'm sure I'll have more questions in weeks/months/years to come Smile

sergeantmajor · 04/07/2018 17:26

#bestthreadever thanks OP! Flowers

About 20 years ago I had a fabulous lipstick by Makeup Forever. It was quite a dark classic red with a brownish undertone that really worked for my colouring (pale skin, hazel eyes, dark hair). Whenever I shop for red lipsticks, I am always on the look out for "the one", something like that original. It's proved impossible to find anything even close! So my question is... can you recommend any lipstick brands that do a slightly brownish dark red or that otherwise tend to suit my colouring?

imsconequeen · 04/07/2018 19:53

Cheshirecat do you mean inner eye for your flick?! Or outer eye?!

OP posts:
imsconequeen · 04/07/2018 19:54

Seargantmajor Chanel have a few (overly priced though).....high street check out sleek (Superdrug and bigger boots) and I've found a few nuggets with Rimmel recently.....!

imsconequeen · 04/07/2018 19:57

Too make eyes bigger always build colour on the outer socket crease and wing out ......a solid block of colour over lid tends to make eyes look smaller (as does putting liner on bottom eyeline). If your bold enough to use false lashes , only apply to outer half of eye.....just cut a strip in half or apply a few individuals.

imsconequeen · 04/07/2018 19:58

I don't really tend to stick to certain colours for day or night but with greenish hazel eyes you can pretty much get away with anything! Lucky you x

imsconequeen · 04/07/2018 20:00

Auntyjackie these things can offer a temporary tightening feeling but sadly don't tend to last long......
Non surgical facelift facials are effective but costly (like everything now!) but again you have to keep them up!

imsconequeen · 04/07/2018 20:01

Alltogetherandrews what do you use on your face before makeup around eye area?

OP posts:
halfwitpicker · 04/07/2018 20:41

Best make up remover?

DownstairsMixUp · 04/07/2018 20:50

I have big eyes but they are deep set and green, how can I make them pop?

CheshireChat · 04/07/2018 21:07

The inner eye bit, I occasionally like to extend it a little and it always flakes or smudges even if the same product is fine on the rest of the eye.

Thanks btw

imsconequeen · 05/07/2018 11:44

Best eyeliner with longevity (from a pot with tiny paintbrush is probably the Bobbi Brown gel eyeliner .......sometimes the skin on inner eye is oily and wetter so it may be that nothing is budge proof!

To make eyes pop I always use a really bright coloured mascara or eyeliner or a nude eyeliner along bottom waterline

Best make up remover probably garnier micellar or biodermas equivalent

Thanks so much! I have tried falsies before and did trim them but never thought to only cover half the eye. Which completely makes sense because I only apply line above my lash line half way across!

Thanks again, you are fab! 💋

AltogetherAndrews · 05/07/2018 18:34

Hi, I use a primer, but when I used the Touché eclat, I was using just whatever moisturiser I had at the time. It was definitely the Touché Eclat that was the problem, I developed a rash around my eye fairly quickly after the first use, and nothing else had changed.

halfwitpicker · 05/07/2018 19:05

Thanks, imscone
