Go for it! No question too silly.......

I totally get how intimidating some counters can be ! Plus I've gone "undercover" recently and gone for a few free makeovers and have wanted to cry when I see myself after and am determined to never make any of my clients or models feel like that.......

I'm not promising I'm a miracle worker but I've got a few years of experience in lots of fields of MUA so if I can help I will x

Ps I think you should start the thread off lovely battleax! X

Altogetherandrews the reason I asked was because I often find primer can make concealer more obvious in the fine lines.....

I'm not sure what budget you're working to but collection 2000 have good concealers but benefit boing and laura merciers are my preferred creamier concealers

Thanks imsconequeen, will try that, I'm afraid it'll be a while until I get back with the results as there's boring stuff I need to pay for first.

imsconequeen · 05/07/2018 20:44

Revlon colourstay eyeliner might be worth a bash?! X

Thanks, will do. Superdrug, here I come Wink.

BlameItOnTheNeon · 05/07/2018 21:49

Sorry I'm not sure if its been asked before but I have extremely dry skin (caused by health issues, not something I can do much about sadly), and I'd finally found a regime which got it looking nice and sort of glowy, but this weather is making it even drier than ever Confused.
Is there a primer and/or fixing spray which is superhydrating, but which still helps makeup look natural? I drink a huge amount of water, but nothing seems to be making much difference at the minute, any advice would be very welcome please :)

imsconequeen · 06/07/2018 07:39

Hi blameitontheneon, what's your skincare like? How sensitive Is your skin if as dry? X

Thanks, I have tried boing, and it was the worst for moving into creases. I’ll try without primer.

BrownWoman · 06/07/2018 08:00

How do you choose a foundation for brown skin that is uneven in skin tone? Which foundation and concealer is best for brown skin?

imsconequeen · 06/07/2018 08:56

Bobbi Brown, mac and Nars probably have best shades for brown skin. If your skin is patchy it's probably best to use a medium coverage .......if you're near a dept store visit these counters to ask for a few samples to save you the expense if they don't work for you! X

Just some random bits of knowledge I forgot to share.....

I bloody love botanics all bright radiance balm. Just had to share that! Much prefer it to all the other flash balms etc.......

I always serum, moisturise, then B.B. balm or base or tinted moisturiser on top of that.
I find otherwise that make up doesn't sit right but every persons skin is different so a lot of trial and error.......unless you are sitting in front of me a lot of advice may not work first time for you I'm afraid!

Still love putting lightreflecting concealer on lids.....hides the purple veiny bits and I feel it makes me look more "awake"

I'm yet to find a lipstick that doesn't cause me to get a cold sore! So if any of you have let me know. I never wear it. As I said I don't look like a mua.....bit of a Tom boy who goes for days without a scrap of make up on!

Please don't cover freckles! I think they're amazing!

Thanks for the advice! I’ll try a department store next time I’m out

BlameItOnTheNeon · 06/07/2018 19:09

imscone thank you :). Currently morning skincare is working well (I think) I cleanse, tone, facial oil serum and moisturise.
Then hydrating primer (currently NYX one) make up (Maybelline fit me foundation, the dewy one) eye makeup and a touch of bronzer, then hydrating setting spray (Hard Candy one at present).

My skincare seems to work well, but the second I put makeup on it becomes dryer than the Sahara. I've tried applying facial over the top of my makeup, sort of patting/pressing it in, but then my makeup wears off much quicker, although it does help the dryness.

Hi - I had a course of Caci ( blurb will tell you non-surgical facelift ) a good few years ago for a wedding.
People did tell me I looked better for it, but of course if you stop it all goes South again !

Question for you. Do they really work and is it work the £300- £500 for a course again or only worth it if you are prepared to spend out for life ?
Thank you.

@imsconequeen I would like to know how best to counteract under eye dryness when applying foundation/B.B. cream. I don’t wear make up often but when I do I always struggle with this area and it seems to look worse - dry and lined - almost exacerbated by the make up. I’ve tried dabbing on some facial oil afterwards but this doesn’t seem to make much difference.

Any tips gratefully received :-)

TheWitchwithNoName · 08/07/2018 19:10

Can you bake your under eye concealer if you use a mineral powder foundation rather than a liquid one? Thank you

mrsflems1 · 08/07/2018 19:22

Hi

Great thread... can you recommend a good dewy/natural foundation or B.B. cream please. I have quite dry skin and hate the caked on feeling I get with some foundations.

Thank you

MikeUniformMike · 08/07/2018 19:32

Great thread. Thank you!

SchnitzelVonKrumm · 08/07/2018 19:42

I've got one! My eyes are a very dark blue, quite unusual, and colours usually recommended for blue eyes don't make them pop at all - anything you can suggest? I end up wearing brown eyeliner all the time.

imsconequeen · 09/07/2018 11:30

Really good skincare and hydrated skin does make make up sit better.......setting sprays are very drying!
Blot fine lines with tissue before applying concealer.....less is more and build up
I always moisturise before my B.B. cream and mix my B.B. cream with either light reflecting moisturiser or highlighter

Navy eyes - lucky you! Throw away the brown eyeliner and embrace sharp bright coloured pencils and mascara!!! X

CSIblonde · 09/07/2018 20:14

Fabulous thread! What budget lipgloss colours would you advis for incredibly pale complexion and blue eyes, medium blonde hair. Everything I try is so bright it just emphasises my vampire pallor! (even with blusher etc I'm still bit ghostly)

mumpatrol · 10/07/2018 15:13

What under eye concealer would you recommend for older skin?
Most concealers seem to sink right into the wrinkles and make it look worse rather than better.
