Hey Floof! Lovely to have you back-hope you're doing OK (and apologies for the NCs, PM me if you need to Smile).

Have a little Soleil Blanc arriving at some point as part of the Scent Addict subscription. Have some Mandarin di Amalfi Aqua - highly recommended.

UnnecessaryFennel · 29/05/2018 07:01

Morning all! SOTD is Freeway, and I'm starting to wish I'd gone for an FB of this instead of TBFL. I really like the 'petrol' note in this - it's not odd or overpowering but it's definitely there (?is it hedione) and give es an unusual, interesting edge.

Back to work today, noooooo.

LibertyBlue · 29/05/2018 09:59

Back at work after a long weekend Sad I’m a Sex Goddess though in my 4160 Perfume today Grin

Coffeecoffeebuzzbuzzbuzz · 29/05/2018 11:12

Hi floof I’m a newbie not a name changer Smile Sorry to hear you’ve been unwell. I’ve tried soleil blanc and it’s lovely. Reminiscent of estee Lauder bronze goddess. SOTD Freeway in a house of stomach bugs (dh and dd so far.) Not a wonderful long weekend.

BarbaraCartlandsFloofyCat · 29/05/2018 12:49

Thanks coffee, yes I can't justify cost of FB oh Bronze Goddess (or What I did on my hols Grin) so I thought I'd try a sample of Soleil Blanc and get the PP version if I like it Sorry to hear lurgy in your house too, this heat isn't helping anyone is it!

MrsL did you have a Mrs name before? I shall try the Mandarin AA, sounds good!

Thank you all for good wishes too, you're all lovely!

I have achieved a "ticking off of a box" this morning and am also finally wearing the Prada Iris, have been dying to try it as it gets a lot of love on here so ordered a sample when I came home. I can see why this could be such a "go to". Clean and fresh, and for me, just weighing in on the "perfume" side of the "skin scent >>>>> perfume" spectrum. Does that make any sense to anyone else?! I love skin scenty stuff in Summer but don't want them to be too in the background. I still want to get whiffs of fragrance.

I fear I am wittering now Perhaps I will have a little nap Grin

MrsGruber · 29/05/2018 18:06

Oh yes, have been a serial Mrs here Floof. (Although strictly a Ms in RL). You'll recognise the typos and enthusiasm for flow charts and diagrams Grin.

CheapTarnishedGlitter · 29/05/2018 19:28

Completely agree Floof . If nothing else I feel daft smelling my wrist and find it less obvious to be able to smell a nice scent without doing anything!! Although that probably means the scent is obvious...!

SotD was Flora Psychadelica. I'm ashamed too admit this but I was surprised by how Floral it was. Godknows now who I thought "Flora" was... Blush

CountFosco · 29/05/2018 19:42

SotD MG Lemon.

Stupid BT cut us off on our original moving day (Fri) and have now cut off the people whose house we are buying and they now have our number. This is despite being told by DH and our vendors that the moving date had changed (AND having this on our file) and having received a complaint from us within an hour of cutting us off. They have also got a complaint from our vendors. Told DH he should take to Twitter.

Calmwhoknows · 29/05/2018 20:05

Floofy! lovely to hear from you!

Cheap, I find I can be less obvious about sniffing myself if I spray on the outside of my wrists, rather than the inside. I know you’re supposed to spray on pulse points, but I don’t think it makes too much difference. Of course, outside and inside of wrists and on chest is nicest of all! 😂😂😂 at poor Flora!

4160 Tuesdays Paris 1948 today, a traditional peachy chypre, very austere and long-lasting.

Fennel, I tried Freeway for the first time yesterday. I wasn’t expecting to like it as much as the other crowdfunders, but it’s lovely. Who knew that perfumed tarmacadam could be so attractive? I will do a review of all four of them when I’ve had a chance to test them all properly.

UnnecessaryFennel · 29/05/2018 20:48

Calm - I felt the same about Freeway, which is why I didn't bother buying a bottle but am slightly regretting that now. Ah well, I've ordered Centrepiece (9mls), WIDOMH and The Great Randello (both 2.25ml samples) today. I needed a break from marking some truly awful undergrad essays and they just fell into my basket...

My half-litre of Eau des Missions arrives tomorrow. Our boiler is currently broken and we have no hot water, so a big bottle of cologne might be just the ticket Grin

Must. Stop. Buying.

UnnecessaryFennel · 29/05/2018 20:52

I totally agree about wanting whiffs of fragrance floofy. I don't really see the point of perfume if I have to bury my nose in my elbow to smell it. I also think overspraying is terribly bad manners, but I do actually like to smell the darn stuff!

UnnecessaryFennel · 29/05/2018 20:54

Count, how frustrating. I hate all that faffing with utilities when you move house, even worse when you've not even actually moved!

MrsLucas · 29/05/2018 21:00

Fennel - I think that note in Freeway is a synthetic wood (or two).

Pest may be able to be more specific (think we were discussing something similar around OML alpha?). Hedione is an airy light jasmine - it's barely-there fresh.

Calm I nearly reached for the Paris 1948 today, but returned to White Queen (still going 13 hours later). I'm struggling to describe the comforting white gourmand heart to this that the fruits, and then the earthy/spicy and incense notes, all dance around at various stages of development. This core has a rich and cosy quality, is relatively bland and nutty, and has constancy (it is a staff of life gourmand!). And it is not really sweet. And it is definitely not doughy. Cream/lactonic notes are listed, but this is not the usual sweet milk puddings territory either. Very lovely and very clever. A desert island contender.

Hello, all. I have been offline for a couple of weeks - actual life just got a bit too much. But today we had some excellent news - DP was offered the job! I feel like I can breathe a bit, despite there still being the whole MRI results thing and other dental woes looming, so here I am. Hopefully I will be able to stop clenching my teeth once DP starts work!

SOTD was Chanel 19, but I have been wearing WIDOMH a lot of late.

I hope everyone is okay, I am totally out ion the loop.

UnnecessaryFennel · 29/05/2018 21:22

Oh judy that's FANTASTIC! So, so pleased for you and MrJudy; it must feel like such a weight off Flowers Grin

MrsLucas · 29/05/2018 21:25

Yay!!! Wine & Cake & Flowers for Mr & Mrs Judy.

CountFosco · 29/05/2018 21:28

Judy so, so delighted for you and MrJ. Think you need to celebrate, now which perfume is a 'hurray for the new job' type of perfume???

Calmwhoknows · 29/05/2018 21:41

I think longevity and sillage become factors when deciding which perfume to put on. I have several strong perfumes (Black Opium, a Tauer, some of the 4160s and samples from Xerjoff, Kurkdjian and so on). They last probably 4-5 hrs and then a few hours more as a strong skin scent. But I wouldn’t like to spray them and go straight out into company.

Then there are a lot of the high street perfumes which are designed to have delightful top notes that last for an hour or two but dry down to a barely-there boring skin scent. For me, that would include the likes of Chanel Gabrielle, Gucci Guilty, Prada Candy Gloss (I love the plastic note in this!). I’m happy to use testers but wouldn’t actually buy a full bottle because only the beginning bit of the perfume is interesting.

There are a number of cheap and cheerful perfumes which I enjoy. Some of them have surprising longevity (SJP Covet, Madonna’s Truth or Dare (and TorD Naked), Pharrell Williams Girl) but a lot of them don’t (the Britney Spears, Body Shop Italian Summer Fig). But they’re so cheap you can respray with abandon 😀

I think my favourite perfumes are the “quiet beauties”. They are not too strong to start with, have lowish sillage, last maybe 3-4 hours but then have a “wafting about” stage of up to another 3-4 hrs. I include in this category several of the 4160s, Balmain Ivoire, Stendhal Elixir Blanc, Prada Infusion D’Iris and of course, my beautiful Elephant (although the top notes in this are quite strong to begin with!).

Calmwhoknows · 29/05/2018 21:44

Judy, congratulations to you both. What a relief! 💐

LibertyBlue · 29/05/2018 21:51

GrinGrin Judy so happy for you ! WineCakeGin

Judydreamsofhorses · 29/05/2018 21:55

Thank you all! Definitely in the market for a new perfume when the first salary payment comes in. No start date yet, the offer just came in this afternoon, but hopefully next month sometime.

mrsreynolds · 30/05/2018 06:24

Congrats judy 💐

We are in Belfast.

Game of thrones tour day today!!

SOTD is White Queen, after all the crowdfunding chat last night. This is gorgeous. However, my skin is drinking it - I definitely oversprayed a bit this morning and I'm having to bury my nose in my arm to get a waft 2 hours later. Might have to start bathing in it...
