Here we go again... A merry whirl of things of things that smell delicious (and sometimes not).

I've just received my bottle of Scenthusiasm that I ordered after the webchat. I wouldn't normally spend £20 on a blind buy, but I thought it was worth a punt, and glad I did.
It's a nice summery, fresh scent.
They also sent a sample of Flora Psychedelica EdP, which I haven't tried yet, so that was a nice surprise.

MrsR, MrsLucas was spot on with her description of Flora Psychedelica being a floral-botanical type fragrance. And yes, although it doesn’t smell anything like Rome 1963, it has the same distinctiveness in that it smells like nothing else! It has a lot of iris, not much projection (which doesn’t worry me at all), but does waft around for hours as a strong skin scent. It kind of becomes part of your own smell in a very fragrant way. I am going to buy a bigger bottle as I’ve nearly run out of my original bottle from the crowd-funding. It’s definitely a grower. It wasn’t my favourite out of The Mysteries, but it certainly is now. 😊

SOTD a sample of Chanel no 5 l’eau. Really enjoying this - smells much lighter and summery to me than the original No5 which I can’t wear. Really think this might end up as a FB (maybe for my birthday next week...if I can be decisive as I have so many in my list). Have resisted buying some of the curious essence on the 4160 website. Decided not to blind buy any for a while.

Dp has asked me what perfume I want for my birthday. I think a trip to Bloom is in order!

I would love a trip to bloom but sadly live way too far away for that to be an option at the moment. I will just live vicariously through the website. Did you have anything specific in mind unnecessary fennel?

SotD LAVS by UNUM. Stripped back oakmoss heavy Chypre. Heaven.

Nope, nothing specific coffee. I'd like to explore Pierre Guillaume more, I think. Or maybe some of the Olfactive Studio line.

Alternatively I could just send him to Les Senteurs for a lovely FB of LADDM!

Just popping in to keep up, though have lost mojo and am alternating Hadrien/Chanel 19/Eau du Sud/Paris/Rive gauche.

End of term looms, weather is hot and sticky. Everyone is tired.

I wish the Sali Hughes columns were more meaty. They used to be much longer and more detailed, now she seems to just chuck 3 or 4 names into the mix and that's it.

I agree Fools, it's a shame because she writes so well. Usually some good comments and recommendations from readers below the line on her columns though.

I've been hiding away for a while in the hope that steering clear of this thread will save some money. But since I've still managed to acquire some Scenthusiasm, Ealing Green, Black Velvet Cafe, Bronze Goddess and have some Flora Psychadelica on the way it's safe to say that that plan failed miserably!!!

SotD was Elephant which was ok but not as remarkable as I'd hoped. Switched to a bit of Scenthusiam which was ideal to cut through the humidity.

The rain has arrived here so sote prob my beloved sexiest scent extrait ❤

I've got MG plum, 4160 mrsglossmademedoit, coromandel sample and next gold on the way (blush) so I'd better stop!

Really like the other two mrsgloss scents I have so hoping it'll be 3 for 3!

I've mostly been washing, sorting and packing today.

Tomorrow will be mostly ironing and cleaning the oven 😣

Loving the lists of Bad Buys

I ended up scrubbing Elephant, then going for Panda, scrubbing that too, then going for Tokyo Spring Blossom, and can't settle with that either. It feels like one of those days when no perfume really 'works' for me.

So I'm eyeing up a 500ml bottle of Couvent de Minimes Eau des Missions for £22...that's a bargain, right? I seem to remember this scent got a lot of love on previous threads...I love the idea of a vanilla/benzoin cologne.

So I had my Perfume party. Everyone enjoyed it and I got to smell lots of 4160s. Tbh the range didn’t go down amazingly well. I think they are just too different for many of the ladies who are used to mainstream perfumes. Two people didn’t like any, but most people went away with 2 or 3 they quite liked. The evening overall went very well- we had a lot of fun, they explored lots of my collection/ samples and we played a brilliant game. Everyone left with gift bags laden with samples (4160 and a big collection of extras I’d amassed over time).

Actually I need to sort out the leftover samples and offer them to you lot here. Give me time and I’ll post a list. I also have a code - if you want it PM me.

liberty, the party sounds fab . I know what you mean about some of the scents perhaps being quite challenging or at least unusual for people who are used to mainstream fragrance, but hopefully some of your guests got some inspiration!

Yep Fennel the guests loved smelling the 4160s even when they didn’t like them all- they found them really intriguing and said they’d learnt a lot about different notes. So in that sense it was a great success. I’m just not sure if it will convert into sales but I don’t have a vested interest in that as I’m not on commission and wouldn’t want to be!

Revisiting Flora Psychedelica today, because MrsR inspired me, and it seems appropriate for a fine day and lunch with DH, and maybe DS (IF he can take a break from A level Physics revision).

Greetings fragrant friends, reporting again for perfume duties! Sorry for being MIA, have been unwell and just getting back to "normal" life! I have been reading and keeping up but just admit some name changes have slightly stumped me, I do have memory issues from being ill though so have a great excuse Also seem to have lost quite a bit of perfume related knowledge, so also have another great excuse to buy lots more samples

Hope you all have gorgeous weather, it feels officially time to break out proper Summer perfumes doesn't it? My "go to" choice of TF Neroli Portofino is slightly ruined tarnished though as it was the bottle DH brought to hospital for me ("DH please can you bring me some knickers, nighties and toiletries?" followed by the arrival of the most impractical lacey nightgowns, a silky dressing gown and a big bottle of NP - I do love him ) but now I can't bear to smell it any more Has anyone tried Soleil Blanc, as this looks Summery? And the Perfume Parlour has good reviews of it

Liberty I think lots of us were a bit on first sniffs of some 4160s so maybe they will be growers for your friends too? I do remember pulling faces at Ealing Green initially which was very stupid as it's actually so wonderful once I got over the "difference" and now in my top 100 10.

I shall go check out The Big Sniff too. I'm having my very own Big Sniff at home as can't "remember" the scent of half my stash , MrsR you will like this, sniffing my Obsession was like the first time I had smelt it in years! It was amazing!

SOTD is Prada infusions d'Iris. The rather nasty plastic note has gone from the top of this now and it's soft powdery loveliness instead. I think it might have been the bottle actually, it was an ebay decant which arrived in a plastic sprayer.

SotD Flashback in New York. The last of my Bloom Chypre pack. Very woody and not quite as immediately appealing as some of the others but still fab. Apart from the PG Mojito Chypre (which was like children's toothpaste) I would happily have a FB of any of them with Nightingale and Golden Chypre probably my favourites.
