SOTD is Eau My Soul. I love this so much. I'm wearing a really snuggly alpaca sweater so I spritzed a bit on that and I feel so cosy now!

Reading the webchat, it seems that most of Sarah's favourite 4160s are my least favourites Grin

I'm not sure that I really get Truth Beauty Freedom Love, sadly. It's too fruity-sweet on me. I might have to head over to the FB site and see if anyone would be up for a swap. Unless anyone here wants to do swapsies, of course?

LibertyBlue · 25/05/2018 10:11

Good news MrsReynolds

SOTD is Mary Greenwell Plum. I’ve just been onto fragrance shop and ordered two purse sprays and 3 candles. £19.50 delivered with a 15% discount code (PERFUME15) Be quick!

All caught up on webchat. Over too soon. Need to get some Scenthusiasm

UnnecessaryFennel · 25/05/2018 10:51

And sock, I promise I'll get your FF in the post tomorrow! Believe it or not I am actually stuck in the house; everyone else is out and I've lost my keys Hmm. No excuse not to get all my marking done, but somehow or other it just keeps slipping...

teta · 25/05/2018 11:00

I really enjoyed reading the webchat last night. I think what I love about Sarah McCartney is her total refreshingly lack of pretension along with spades of enthusiasm. Which is unusual in perfume emporiums . Having visited several in the last few days - including Les Senteurs, which is a little gem.But made me feel a little like woman from the provinces.I must have tested 100 perfumes plus in the last few days. It’s been so lovely to have the opportunity to try so many.
MrsR I hope you are ok as well as your mother?
Pineapple such a brilliant name for that perfume !

mrsreynolds · 25/05/2018 11:44

I'm feeling quite horrid today but thank you x
Just ran some errands in the pouring rain 🌧☔
Inset day for ds2 but he's no trouble really.
Sotd was indeed obsession but I can't really smell it 😣
We are away next week, ice just picked up dhs b day gift and I've still got fathers day to sort....
I have however done a bad thing 😂
I've ordered a bottle of next sparkle. It's a very pleasant floriental.
And it's £8. Bargaintastic. I even like the bottle
😉
I will check out the 4160 half price scent of the week but it's unlikely to be one I will want.
Loved the webchat. Sarah is awesome.
I fully intend to go back to bed soon once I've fed ds2.

mrsreynolds · 25/05/2018 11:52

....and thanks to liberty I've now got an MG plum purse spray on the way 😂😂

auberginesrus · 25/05/2018 11:55

SOTD Rome 1963 - I'm so in love with this I'm going to have to buy some on pay day 😊

mrsreynolds · 25/05/2018 12:58

What do we think of Tocca?
(We are borg)
😂

EeebyMum · 25/05/2018 14:04

Just found this thread; hello!

Sotd Tauer Noontide Petals

ThenCameTheFools · 25/05/2018 14:08

Just caught up with the webchat. Like the idea of the Lindisfarne inspired plans.
I was going to ask if they ever intend lowering postage to furrin but thought I'd sound like a whiny stuck record, which I am!
Sotd Seville a' l'aube.

UnnecessaryFennel · 25/05/2018 14:17

Oooh, lovely fizzy floralness Eeeby! I love Tauer.

Urrgh, so irritated with my students atm. I know it's a tedious and cliched refrain (and probably wildly unfair in most cases) but when did twenty-somethings get so darned entitled? The only way you're going to get a First, dear, is if you produce work that's worthy of a First! You don't get one just by whining at me that you 'expect' one. Grrrrr.

#grumpyoldwoman. I need a cup of tea and a slice of cake. Apologies for derail.

MrsLucas · 25/05/2018 16:24

SotW looks to be Flora Psychedelica - which is wonderful stuff if anyone hasn't tried?

Hello Eeebymum - did you find us via last night's webchat?

mrsreynolds · 25/05/2018 16:25

Describe please mrsL!

mrsreynolds · 25/05/2018 16:25

Hello eeby

mrsreynolds · 25/05/2018 17:32

Oh dear
9mls is mrsglossmademedoit fell into my basket
😣

PestymcPestFace · 25/05/2018 17:47

SotD JPG's Ma Dame. Some Francis Kurkdjian alchemy going on here. This one does not quite match is note description. There is rose, grenadine, orange, musk and cedar but also plastic and probably orris.

mrsreynolds · 25/05/2018 21:00

I've finally sent for a sample of coromandel.

MrsLucas · 25/05/2018 21:06

MrsR, I'll try Smile. It's quite a rich, borderline-boozy, powdery floral-botanical. Imagine (if you are old enough,) floral gums mixed with cedar pencil shavings, underpinned by something a bit peaty. It's not anything like Rome 1963, but if you think about that as a white floral, sitting on top of some rich woody, aromatic, notes, then this is a similar style of 'floral'. Style-wise it also makes me think of things like Jean Couturier's Coriandre (but no coriander here).

I liked it the best of all The Mysteries - it deserves to be better known.

mrsreynolds · 25/05/2018 21:13

Sounds lovely!

MrsLucas · 26/05/2018 07:30

SotD is White Queen . This is my favourite from the TBFL crowd-funding project. And an unexpected bonus is the opening seems more interesting than the 9ml batch; the citrus/fruit comes through more strongly at the start. (Unless that's me just projecting my excitement onto the contents Grin).

This is such a lovely, unusual scent. It balances a creamy, nutty comforting quality with some woody oriental depth. Imagine having sat out and warmed your skin in the garden's early morning summer sun, then walked into the kitchen and cut a slice of still warm white/nutty bread, and carried that into your book-filled Victorian living room, where you occasionally burn incense. You eat it as you sink into a pile of cushions. Crusts off.

mrsreynolds · 26/05/2018 07:39

Sounds gorgeous mrsL!
However as I know have 3 lots of perfume winging their way to me I must be strong 😁
Sotd today...hmmmm....I think I might try my new oscar de la renta!

LibertyBlue · 26/05/2018 09:02

Fennel Grin your grumpy woman “rant” struck a cord with me. I feel exactly the same and wonder if it’s me ageing or millennials changing. We watched a film last night on Netflix called ‘While we’re young” which is based on this premise, it really struck a cord and was obviously written by an ageing grump like us Grin but seriously there is definitely something in it. Maybe to do with the education system.

MrsLucas · 26/05/2018 09:36
auberginesrus · 26/05/2018 10:13

Morning all, just popping in to post a link to Sali Hughes column in the Guardian, as this week she is talking about summer scents:

The best scents to celebrate summer

www.theguardian.com/fashion/2018/may/26/best-scents-perfume-celebrate-summer?CMP=Share_AndroidApp_Copy_to_clipboard

Sorry for the long link, am on my phone!

UnnecessaryFennel · 26/05/2018 10:44

SOTD is Parfumeur Generale's Bois Naufrage. This is lovely - figgy, salty and green - and has even garnered a compliment from dp. However, I'm not sure that it beats good old Philosykos.

I really want to try EL Bronze Goddess and even more so after that article Grin

Liberty, I might have to watch that film! I shouldn't fall into the moany old woman trap really; the vast majority of my students are delightful, smart, funny and hard-working. And many of them have it much tougher than I ever did as an undergrad. But, god, they can drive you up the wall at times.
