Here we go again... A merry whirl of things of things that smell delicious (and sometimes not).

Sock How does that work? Is it like a diffuser? I really like the design.

I made my own reed diffusers for a while, the oils and fragrance aren't too expensive I found the jar/vase had to be a certain shape or the fragrance didn't really project so I gave up! Now I use the oils on my steam cleaning cloths instead.

OCSock · 11/05/2018 15:30

You fill the lamp with catalytic fragranced oil of your choice, reinsert the wick which is held in place by a metal collar contraption, light it for a couple of minutes and blow out the flame. It should then chug out fumes for an hour or until you put the cap back on to close. There's a cage to stop you touching the hot bit. Obviously, you don't leave it unattended. The catalytic oil is very flammable, but old oils won't maintain the heat. Which may be why mine won't stay warm for more than a few minutes.

Just a burner with a large 8 hour nightlight underneath
I use soy wax melts from a local shop

MrsLucas · 11/05/2018 16:55

Flowers for Pest - thank you.

SotD is the fabulous Habanita. Who knew about mastic?

Am also burning my L'Artisan L'Eau D'Ambre candle - inspired by PP's line of thinking.

CountFosco · 11/05/2018 17:26

SotD PG19.1 Neroli ad Astra. Very Neroli! Need to get on and order my Green pack from Bloom but revisiting some to see if there's a (reasonably priced) FB I want. I like the PG but I already have a neroli perfume. Unfortunately the front runners are both Zoologist perfumes (Civet and Hummingbird) and I've decided I'll try a few more of those then order a selection pack of travel sprays.

MrsLucas · 11/05/2018 17:37

Try some Elephant and Camel Count, ohh, and B*t, if you haven't already?

CountFosco · 11/05/2018 17:48

I seem to be getting a Zoologist perfume in each of my monthly Bloom sample packs, I've had Civet and Hummingbird and both versions of Panda so far (liked but not loved like the other two). So I'm hoping by the year end I'll know which of the range I like best. Elephant is in TBS pack and am already looking forward to that and Bat is also on my radar although that does tend to produce strong opinions on here!

mrsreynolds · 11/05/2018 18:27

I need a perfume suitable to go and see infinity war 😁

Maybe obsession given my feelings for most of the cast 😍

UnnecessaryFennel · 11/05/2018 18:35

Home after a 2-hour commute, grrrr. Highlight was the bloke in front of me on the bus, who was constantly licking the window. Lovely.

And arrived to find a 'sorry we missed you' card which I assume was my Bloom boxes. Double grrrr.

It's also cold here so I've doused myself in Dark Heart of Old Havana and put a jumper on. MG Lemon did not cut it today. I may need to have a little scented spend to cheer myself up.

MrsLucas · 11/05/2018 18:36

Splitting hairs, Count, but B*t should really be on you echolocation Grin.

CountFosco · 11/05/2018 18:43

MrsL Grin

MrsLucas · 11/05/2018 18:47

Teta Ecover is very lavendery isn't it? Or is that just their handwash? Anyone else still yearn for the original Stergene? Was dead impressed that LT misses it too.

Coffeecoffeebuzzbuzzbuzz · 11/05/2018 19:17

SOTD Raw Silk and Red Roses. My bloom samples arrived today for the big sniff so have put them away (huge willpower required).

UnnecessaryFennel · 11/05/2018 19:21

Right. It's Friday night, I've got wine, it's been the longest 4-day week I can remember. I've done my last bit of actual teaching for the remainder of the academic year, but next week I'll be in hell, trying to write papers for conferences, marking essays and invigilating practical exams. I've set myself some insane work goals this summer and I need perfume armour.

Come on, my lovely enabling friends, tempt me with something preferably less than 50 quid to delight, inspire and bewitch. My fingers are itching...

LibertyBlue · 11/05/2018 19:25

Onenight I haven’t tried Maxed Out, but 4160’s Goodbye Piccadilly does the same thing to me- every time I’ve tried to wear it I get a massive headache and feel sick. Never had that with a Perfume before Sad

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 11/05/2018 19:29

I hear you liberty it's definitely gutting because i do genuinely like it but twice in a row seems like its definitely the perfume rather than anything else. I've decided i'm going to give it one more go and if it happens again, it will have to be sold on

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 11/05/2018 19:30

speaking of selling, i have been considering selling my boxed and sealed McQueen perfume MyQueen. it seems to go for anything between £80-£140 on ebay but i don't know how much would be reasonable to ask for IF i do decide to sell it. any one have any thoughts?

Judydreamsofhorses · 11/05/2018 20:58

SOTD was Heeley Hippie Rose, but have since had a bath and am now in JM Wood Sage.

DP had the Skype interview last night, then today was called in to meet with the section manager at the local office in person. Please keep fingers firmly crossed!

Candle addict here too. I like the Isle of Skye ones - not sure if they are widely available outside Scotland? - and also White Company. Currently burning their Vine Tomato, which smells exactly like Bella Freud’s Ginsberg is God candle, but half the price. Love the BF candles, but £££, and am also partial to Diptyque if I am flush. (Imagine all the spending I can do if DP gets the job!)

Motoko · 12/05/2018 00:26

Pineapple I've found the votives last a couple of evenings burning.

Buntyforgirls · 12/05/2018 08:13

My green samples have arrived --can't wait to try!Smile

mrsreynolds · 12/05/2018 08:14

A day of housework beckons...

Sigh

Coffeecoffeebuzzbuzzbuzz · 12/05/2018 08:35

Fingers crossed for you both Judy. SOTD Premier Figuier again from the sample. Very much enjoying this.

Buntyforgirls · 12/05/2018 09:00

Newbie here- any advice re which fragrances work best at this time of year please? (Bright sunny but breezy fresh). Thank you!

mrsreynolds · 12/05/2018 09:20

Fingers and everything else crossed judy

Had a lovely parcel this morning from sock thank you so much ❤
Love MG fire 😁
Smoky loveliness
Dh has declared it "interesting"

Pp mitsouko is nothing like the original but a pleasant citrus scent so for £5 I'm not too disappointed

Sigh

I need to start cleaning....

CountFosco · 12/05/2018 09:25

SotD Golden Chypre. Smells like Christmas, lovely spice and citrus at the moment. Most expensive perfume I've sampled and truly gorgeous. Think this chypre sample set is going to be expensive!
