Here we go again... A merry whirl of things of things that smell delicious (and sometimes not).

Was this a bit of an enabling fail Fennel?

Have a look at those L'Artisans at TK Maxx - especially if there is anywhere you can go to sniff testers first. They had some some classics at good prices.

And Habanita (the new formulation EDP) is definitely worth trying.

UnnecessaryFennel · 12/05/2018 09:56

It was a bit MrsL; honestly, you lot Grin. Although my bank balance is probably thanking you.

I do have an unexpectedly free day today so might pop to TK Maxx... it'll be a blind buy though...and I really really shouldn't.

I think I'd like Habanita a lot from your previous descriptions. Will ponder.

UnnecessaryFennel · 12/05/2018 09:58

Is it very vetiver-y, though? LT suggests not, but I am wary.

LibertyBlue · 12/05/2018 10:22

Fennel they have Timbuktu and Noir Exquis from L’Artisan, both of these are lovely ...and Charogne from ELDO on TK Maxx website, all reduced further. I can’t do Charogne as it’s all indolic and smells of dirty nappies

ThenCameTheFools · 12/05/2018 10:37

MrsR and Coffee- everyone needs vintage Miss Dior in their lives. I think I now have 4 generations of it. A good thing about it though, is actually, the modern version is still immediately recognisable and just as wonderful and demanding of its wearer. It's definitely a "you don't get to fuck with me, missy" perfume. I wear it for the headmistress. Grin

Coffee- if Diors have passed you by, pull right over and turn round, everyone needs the Holy Trinity (Miss Dior, Diorella, Dioressence- I am totally unable to decide which I love the most, Dioressence probably wins it by a whisker) (Diorling and Diorama worth a punt as well, as of course is Diorissimo. But that's very feminine. But not in a pink minger way, just very very white flower- almost a soliflore lily of the valley to my untrained nose) If you're going past a counter, you'll need to ask them to fettle under it probably, and wait patiently while they shift the eleventy billion flankers of new Miss Dior (ignore everything with a velvet bow) Ebay is your best bet- especially ebay.de. Lots of 10ml bottles. (I do think, because they're splash bottles, some have been naughtily topped up, but you do get some treasures)

Pineapple- dd and I are almost as obsessed with home scent as we are with human scents Grin I even like Yankee Candles. Wink The most wonderful candle ever though is the Liz Earle special Rosemary and Eucalyptus one. I got one free with a skincare set at Christmas and dd and I fought over it. It made me realise the difference between £ candles, and ££££s candles. I dabbled a lot in essential oil blends years ago, and a favourite blend was lavender, geranium and neroli. Re: Yankee- melts all the way. They fill the whole house, whereas I find the candles won't go further than a radius of about 6 ft.
The most wonderful room spray is L'occitane Relaxing Pillow Mist- I use it all over. Mine is almost finished. I treat myself to one every summer when I head off to summer school and dormitory living for 6 weeks!

Fennel- I hear you on the academic year. I am actually sick today (throbbing migraine and threw up at 4, now feel fine and fraudulent obvs) And I was taking 34 students for exams. Tomorrow (Sunday!!!!) I am taking another 76 and then the exams for me are finished. Just 4 weeks of lessons and paperwork, then summer school, which is physically draining but a mental doddle.

If anyone needs to be enabled, I enabled myself with 100ml of Eau d'Hadrien from a German ebayer who seems to be getting rid of a lot of AGs. Auction and BIN. It's become my "can't stop sniffing my arm" scent this week.

Postie bought another ebay accident. A third of a bottle of vintage Obsession. I was sceptical as I thought yeah, everyone sticks vintage on it and doubles the price, but as soon as I smelled it, I realised how much the monstrosity on sale now, masquerading as it, has been defiled. Just No Comparison. When dp comes home I shall make him smell it as I was wearing it when we met, and have rarely worn it (due to modern monstrosity prevalence) since.

Fingers crossed for Mr Judy.

I am also attempting to not buy. Hmmm. So I joined the skincare and how to look expensive threads. That's going to work then.

mrsreynolds · 12/05/2018 10:51

Mum has new miss Dior (With bow)

It's a proper PM

UnnecessaryFennel · 12/05/2018 11:13

SOTD is Papillon Tobacco Rose, for a haircut. Am having a proper crop to cut out all the remaining colour and be completely grey. Bored of three-tone hair!

After re-reading LT I bypassed the £500 bottle of Habanita on ebay Shock and went for the allbeauty one. I needed some micellar water anyway, honest Grin

mrsreynolds · 12/05/2018 12:18

Bunty...
Welcome!

Atm in sunny weather Im wearing;

PP rive gauche
(PP = perfume parlour who do fragrance oil dupes of many perfume houses..some are really outstanding imo)

4160 Tuesdays lemon sherbert (my sotd in fact)

4160 Tuesdays mrsgloss outdoors (4160 have a 40% off mrsgloss scents atm!)

Mary Greenwell Lemon

Um..
Think that's it. I tend towards more autumn/winter scents tbh so I may not be the best person to ask!

Paul Smith rose is nice
Mrsglossmademedoit is another jammy rose scent
Lots of 4160s to try...sunshine and pancakes is nice. As is rome 1963.

If you like more mainstream then SJP lovely seems popular

Next do some excellent fragrances imo
Cashmere is my fave

mrsreynolds · 12/05/2018 12:19

You simply cannot beat vintage obsession

MrsGruber · 12/05/2018 13:21

Not really very vetivery at all to my nose,Fennell, but mastic- fantastic. Feels like an old friend I've loved for years. Think the new formulation may be an easier-wear, although it is favourably reviewed.

LibertyBlue · 12/05/2018 14:06

SOTD is 4160 Sunshine and Pancakes- not what I expected, lots of wood, but I like it

mrsreynolds · 12/05/2018 16:06

Sunshine and pancakes is lovely
I love anything woody

mrsreynolds · 12/05/2018 19:06

Trying not to buy buddawood box from 4160

It's the half price sotw

Is it awful?

Tell me I wont like it!

mrsreynolds · 12/05/2018 19:12

Sorry!

Meant bhodi language....

mrsreynolds · 12/05/2018 19:13

Sigh...

I may have done a bad thing....

ThenCameTheFools · 12/05/2018 19:15

It is interesting.

I do find it pretty awful tbh! Or am I thinking of Lion Cupboard? They both smell like something you'd get out of a tin and paint on a fence to me.

(forget to tell you all, took the few 4160s I have for perfumista friend to try last weekend- London 1969 she liked, Ealing Green, she liked, Paris 1948- too sweet, BuddawoodBox, Lion Cupboard, Lady Rose Lion, Tart's Knicker Drawer, she visibly gagged and said "what fresh hell is this" Doe in the Snow she said she couldn't smell anything. As she likes strong, unusual things, I thought she might have liked the BB, LRL and the LC but her opinions were the same as me)

mrsreynolds · 12/05/2018 19:17

Lady rose lion made me gag too

Awful stuff

mrsreynolds · 12/05/2018 19:20

I've had a pretty good strike rate on the 4160 half price 9mls...

Ive currently got lemon sherbert and mrsgloss outdoors

mrsreynolds · 12/05/2018 19:21

...and now I'll have bhodi language too 😁

Coffeecoffeebuzzbuzzbuzz · 12/05/2018 20:00

Thanks thencamethefools for the Dior advice. I’m planning a trip to a counter hopefully next weekend so shall try the trinity- looking forward to it.
I was tempted by Bhodi Language but have spent way too much this month already so am sitting on my hands. I’m a huge fan of Buddhawood box so think this would be up my street but I need to stay strong (bought raw silk and red roses, and eau my soul and goodbye Piccadilly and scenthusiasm all in the last couple of months in 9ml)

Judydreamsofhorses · 12/05/2018 20:38

SOTD is Kiehl’s Musk. I also had a drastic haircut today, fennel.

UnnecessaryFennel · 12/05/2018 21:50

I really like Bodhi Language.

Are you pleased with yours judy? Mine is definitely a bit too short but thankfully my hair grows ridiculously fast so within a couple of weeks it'll be looking ok again.

Judydreamsofhorses · 12/05/2018 23:07

My head feels so light, fennel! I’d been growing it, but it’s now in a Louise Brooks style bob, level with my ears. I felt like it was looking really “wifie” in the long bob, so I feel more like me again.

MrsLucas · 13/05/2018 00:01

SotN is Mandarino Di Amalfi Aqua - lovely aromatic raspy herb mandarin - I'm liking the Scent Addict.

mrsreynolds · 13/05/2018 07:43

Oh dear
I appear to have joined scent addict
