Watching the movie 'table 19' and Anna Kendricks red cardigan spoke to me..I don't usually do red but the next day I went out and got one from Debenhams and it's a refreshing change from my normal look which has got some items of clothing I have had for over ten years..(or longer Blush)

Claire underwood in house of cards wears amazing clothes. I want to have her wardrobe for work.

I also love Keira knightlys green dress and Rene Russia clothes in the Thomas crown affair.

NomNomNominativeDeterminism · 05/01/2018 20:23

I'm joining foxychox on the not-clothes ... there is a delightful sofa in Brief Encounter.

hugoagogo · 05/01/2018 20:29

Molly Ringwald's khaki jacket in Pretty in Pink, I have wasted many hours trying to get one for myself.Blush
Special mention should go to everything Romala Garai wears in Emma.

Love all these! I love Carrie’s outfit SATC when she rushes to the book party in Paris (tulle skirt, vesty type camisole and silky jacket with the sleeves pushed up), and when she meets Big by Central Park in that pink dress (before falling in), and the ivory silky dress when she says ‘your girl is lovely, Hubble’ outside the Plaza.

And I’m STILL searching for the cream silk blouse Cameron Diaz is wearing in the restaurant in The Holiday. I want it!

Another one for Rene Russo in The Thomas Crown Affair..

Sophie Marceau in Anthony Zimmer:

On TV, Olivia Pope in Scandal.

AND Stella Gibson in The Fall. I'm a big fan of structured clothing.

Private I was a bridesmaid at a winter wedding when I was 8. I wore a red velvet dress trimmed with white fur and carried a white fur ruff.

I. Loved. It.

00alwaysbusymum · 05/01/2018 21:21

The brown spotty dress Julia Roberts wears in pretty women at the polo match - loved it x

MickHucknallspinkpancakes · 05/01/2018 21:27

Cameron Diaz also wore some great outfits in "What Happens in Vegas"

Loving and lusting after a lot of Vanessa Kirby's outfits as Princess Margaret in "The Crown".

DontCallMeCharlotte · 05/01/2018 21:37

Thanks @WeeM Saved me some typing there re the Pretty Woman outfits. I have been subconsciously searching for that outfit (the polo one) ever since I think. I have two spotty dresses...

Yellowbird54321 · 05/01/2018 22:24

Everything Juliette Binoche wore in Chocolat.

PrivateParkin · 05/01/2018 22:55

@TheOtherGirl that sounds amazing! My 8yo self would be v envious!

Tartyflette · 06/01/2018 00:33

The frocks in The Crown worn by both the Queen and PM are wonderful, apart from the "State Occasions" ones. Very Hartnell.
The Green dress from Atonement is stunning, truly iconic.
Not keen on Carrie Bradshaw's clothes in SATC but I'd take the diamond necklace (given to her by the Russian) in a New York minute. Grin

affectionincoldclimate · 06/01/2018 01:16

Joan Holloway in Mad Men. I do not have a figure like this. I could not work that look at all even if I tried as it's just not me but boy, wasn't she a vision in every single damn scene.

Claire Underwood and Gillian Anderson are basically it for me personally. My biggest compliment ever was that someone likened me to Claire Underwood in looks and style - I do have her pixie blonde cut and had it for years. I nodded appreciatively but I was air punching inside Grin

How could I forget to mention Olivia Pope's wardrobe in Scandal? All those pale colours and cashmere wine cardigans!

bananafish81 · 06/01/2018 10:19

Hayley Atwell as Agent Carter - 1940s espionage chic!

LavenderHills · 06/01/2018 10:32

I don't know if it translated over here, but for a good few years EVERYONE in Australia was obsessed with Nina Proudman's outfits in the series Offspring. Sort of a boho-luxe vibe.

I stopped trying after I realised I was an Amazonian redhead and not a petite, curvy blonde Blush

I've never heard of it Lavender but I love everything in those photos!

morningconstitutional2017 · 06/01/2018 13:00

Not an outfit as such but a fab hairstyle. Loved Jan Howard's hair in Howard's Way, the sailing TV series which was in the 80's I think. A chic flattering style which I could get my hair to actually emulate and look great in for once in my life.

LavenderHills · 06/01/2018 14:25

It's a great series, @LemonadeWithACherry! The beautifully dressed main character is an obstetrician, and the series is about her mad family and colleagues and life in Melbourne. I highly recommend downloading it from iTunes or something.

Also, if you google "Nina Proudman style" there are myriad photos of outfits and articles about how to dress like her!

Bratsandtwats · 06/01/2018 15:15

This dress in Spectre. Especially the back of it. Stunning yet simple.

I, unfortunately, do not have the figure to wear this kind of dress.

I also love the ballgown in Cinderella and pretty much every dress that Scarlett O'Hara wore.

Bit mad but I used to love this 1830s-ish frock as worn by Greer Garson in the 1940s Pride and Prejudice. Love the giant puffy sleeves.

Also, ALL of Rebecca Hall's dresses in Parade's End, she has just the right figure to carry off those super drapey ones.

squoosh · 06/01/2018 16:20

Joan Holloway was a total knockout!

Lottapianos · 06/01/2018 17:40

Lucysnowe, I loved that character. She was gorgeous and a pain in the ass and caused no end of trouble. Great fun.

Deborah Kerr dancing to 'Shall We Dance?' in The King and I wore the most fabulous dress EVER. Not the sort of thing you would wear down the pub. Proper opulence. The sort of dress you would struggle to sit down in
