Watching the movie 'table 19' and Anna Kendricks red cardigan spoke to me..I don't usually do red but the next day I went out and got one from Debenhams and it's a refreshing change from my normal look which has got some items of clothing I have had for over ten years..(or longer Blush)

What movie stars outfits have you fallen in love with? Feel free to post pics!

Oh god I remember the thread about dr Foster's sartorial abominations!

wellhonestly · 05/01/2018 14:04

Audrey Hepburn in Funny Face.

foxychox · 05/01/2018 14:08

Not clothing but bedding, I was slightly obsessed with the deep red bedding set in the parents bedroom in Home Alone! Watched it again this Christmas and still love it, that comforter!!

crochetmonkey69 · 05/01/2018 14:20

Mine is Carrie Bradshaw's outfit for her last night in New York with Big before he moves, and any 80's dance film where the dancers all had odd bits of clothing on, and massive bags that they schlepped all over New York. I think It might be New York i am in love with!

Bette Davis evening gown in All About Eve.

whiskyowl · 05/01/2018 14:47

A huge vote for nightwear in 40s and 50s films. It used to be BEAUTIFUL. Now all I can get are bloody fleece dressing gowns that make me look like an overweight sheep.

whiskyowl · 05/01/2018 14:48

Also, I don't think anything Grace Kelly wears should count. That woman would have look beautiful dressed as a dancing liquorice allsort.

BitOutOfPractice · 05/01/2018 14:52

God Gillian Anderson was hot in the Fall

Just binge watched The Feud about Bette Davis and Joan Crawford. The costumes were just fabulous

BitOutOfPractice · 05/01/2018 14:54

squoosh I agree about Dr Foster's shoes. Mid heel mum shoes. I also noticed that there were loads of continuity errors with her shoes. She sometimes changed them half way across that bloody town square where so much action seemed to happen Hmm

In contrast the actress who plays her wore a fabulous pair on the Graham Norton show on NYE.

I notice shoes

BitOutOfPractice · 05/01/2018 14:57

whisyowl (this is the second thread I've spoken to you on today Grin ) Watch the Feud if you like 40s / 50s nightwear. You'll also see a variety of 50s leisure wear which is equally fabukous - Joan Crawford in a sort of 50s track suit as she swans around the house drunk

veryveryquietly · 05/01/2018 15:17

Lots of clothes mentioned above, but especially Michelle Pfeiffer's huge slouchy minimalist leather messenger bag in One Fine Day.

And being a plus-size woman, I really want Melissa McCarthy's casino outfit and bodyguard outfit in Spy. I will, however, pass on the crazy cupcake necklace.

crochetmonkey69 · 05/01/2018 15:25

bags are the thing I love in films- Melanie Griffiths has the perfect Tan leather slouchy giant tote in 'Working Girl'
I was obsessed for years- and Spencer Reid's messenger bag in 'Criminal Minds'

ProjectGainsborough · 05/01/2018 16:03

Thank you to maximu for posting that pic of Begin Again. Never seen it but now I have summer goals...

TheOtherGirl · 05/01/2018 16:34

Also, the stripey top, black blazer and jeans Meg Ryan wears in French Kiss. And I was obsessed with her hair cut in that film.

Oh God, and the raspberry satin evening dress worn by a Bond Girl in Casino Royale. That actress had the most stunning figure too, was she even human?

RhiannonOHara · 05/01/2018 16:43

Loads of these!

Also Rebecca Hall in The Awakening. Classic Edwardian silhouette –long narrow hobble skirt, neat tucked-in belted waist, simple crisp shirt. She had a gorgeous long coat in a nice heavy tweedy fabric with a good collar too –kind of the female version of Benedict C's Sherlock one.

viagrafalls · 05/01/2018 16:53

Has anyone mentioned Shelley Duvall in The Shining?

ScabbyHorse · 05/01/2018 16:58

The clothes in Single White Female

SukiTheDog · 05/01/2018 17:16

I love the Edwardian style too. The clothing worn by many women from 1910 to 1920 as in Valentine In Parade’s End and Alicia Vikander in Testement of Youth. Those neat waists and ankle length skirts with little jackets and fitted cardigans. Lovely.

BikeRunSki · 05/01/2018 17:51

That TV drama last year with the crazy archtect/new baby/revenge type situation. Can’t remember what it was called, but the architect with the baby always had nice clothes.

QueenOfTheAndals · 05/01/2018 18:10

@SukiTheDog You would've loved the recent adaptation of Howard's End then. Hayley Atwell looked fab!

loveablether · 05/01/2018 18:17

I've always loved Ali McGraw's preppy look in Love Story. In the 90s I really embraced it ( I still would if my legs were up to it!)

SukiTheDog · 05/01/2018 19:19

Yes! Howard’s End.... right up my street. Wish I could buy skirts like that now.

SukiTheDog · 05/01/2018 19:27

Valentine Wannop, Parade’s End

Ah so many of mine have already been mentioned, but when I was little I absolutely loved these dresses from White Christmas (not Bing's outfit btw, he looks ridiculous). Not sure how I'd work one into my day to day wardrobe though...
