Hi folks,

Some of you may already receive our weekly Swears By newsletter, which is a round-up of products (predominantly style and beauty goodies) that Mumsnetters have been recommending to each other. As it's the end of the year, we thought we would round up the most popular products from 2017. Feel free to let us know what your personal best buys of 2017 were too!

If you want to be first to know about the next cult product, you can sign up to the newsletter here and you can also check out the Swears By page here

Mumsnet Swears By is free and independent from advertising but if you buy something through our posts, we may get a small share of the sale. You can find out more here

Happy New Year!

Alice & Charlotte

Thanks, Buster. Think it would be too rich for my face though tbh.

Saranghae skincare system. Traditional ingredients from Korea, a million times better than all the high end / innovative / organic / $100+ creams I've tried over the past 20 years. I am a skincare junkie (tried every brand) and have found the holy grail.... been using it for 6 months and 3 people recently asked me if I'd had Botox (I haven't).

BusterGonad · 01/01/2018 20:15

That's ok Remus it's a oldie but a goodie. I adore thick creams, I'm currently sat in front of the log burner while my facial Balm sinks in! It's heaven! 😂

Ultimate sleep cream from M&S

CharlotteBMumsnet · 02/01/2018 15:16

Hi @Bear9, I have never used The Ordinary but apparently 'The Buffet' is good for wrinkles.

On a side note, I bought the Paula's Choice after seeing it recommended on a few threads and I love it, has completely changed my skin!

I have 2 mini tubes of the sleep cream, I can't wait to try it!

imablackstarnotapopstar · 02/01/2018 16:43

Paula's Choice is da bomb!

GoReylo · 02/01/2018 22:27

I have the Seasalt jacket in a light sage colour. I love it, and living at the coast it is practical. I went though that link to see if the teal was on sale, but they only have the bright blue one on offer Sad

I have 5% retinoid from The Ordinary. I have combination skin and it looked really dull so applied this on a Friday night - no weekend plans as apparently it can cause peeling. It made my face a bit hot and dry but applied the Buffet serum liberally afterwards and it has livened my skin up after applying mask again a week later. My skin is NOT in any way sensitive.

I also dab my face with The Buffet after doing my makeup as it makes it seem so dewy.

Interesting Glitter. I am going to get the Buffet next. I only have the Retinoid 2% and rosehip oil so far. I got a AHA peel from Decleor which is pretty mild but I've no idea of percentages. Have used that twice and the retinoid 7 or 8 times now (I built it up slowly). Got one small dry area on the point of my chin, otherwise no sensitivity, though suncreen and moisturiser are making my skin feel a bit prickly when I apply, which was never the case before.

Nuxe Reve de Miel was my lip balm discovery of 2017. Everyone seemed to know about this but I didn't! Amazing lip balm and worth every penny.

PerditaNitt · 03/01/2018 13:28

I own the controversial Hush dress and think I look rather awesome in it! Smile I’m 5’5, mid 30s and size 12, and style it with some boots and a long statement necklace, and I also push up the sleeves. I’ve had some compliments on it from the hip and trendy girls in my office.

I should also disclose that I’m in my first trimester and whilst not showing, I’ve definitely had a lot of pregnancy bloating, so it has been a dream for skimming over the tum (let’s face it...that’s probably the real reason I like it!)

Cheekyandfreaky · 03/01/2018 14:41

I’m in two minds about recommending this because I don’t want the price to go up!!! I love Mabel and Megs lumilixir which is hyalauronic acid with vitamin c serum. It’s wonderful and if you must: www.mabelandmeg.com/products/lumilixir-serum

It’s my go to with dry patches on my face- it makes my skin look beautiful.

@GlitterGlassEye I'm pretty sure Buffet is meant to g

damedoom I happened to be passing a Space NK today and went in and bought the Eve Lom Rescue Mask. My skin hates the wind and cold, it gets so sore. I’m hoping for great things!

Polkadot1974 · 03/01/2018 20:07

I’ve yet to be really wowed but waiting for the ordinary stuff so come back into stock. Where do you all buy it?

PhatSlag · 03/01/2018 20:15

You can get it from Victoria Health. Not sure if any where else stocks it. Victoria Health emails are really good too.

MachineBee · 03/01/2018 21:51

FitFlop shoes and sneakers. Most definitely THE most comfy shoes I’ve ever worn. www.fitflop.com/uk/en/shop/womens-view-all-uk

LucheroTena · 03/01/2018 22:28

I think this thread is in the wrong topic.

Er, hello people, this is 'style and beauty'

The words Playtex, Seasalt, Fitflop have no place here.

Mumsnet please move this thread to the comfy but frumpy topic forthwith.

BusterGonad · 03/01/2018 22:39

Iheart I know what you are saying regarding playtex but tits around your ankles and flapping in the wind are no good for your overall style either! 😂

mrsmuddlepies · 03/01/2018 23:47

Place marking. So many suggestions!

tumpymummy · 04/01/2018 00:53

Placemarking too and will have a think about anything I have to add.
