What does v short hair say about a woman?

Just that really. I was having my (very short) hair cut yesterday and my hairdresser and I were talking and she said that she thought that women with short hair had to be very confident because they had nothing to 'hide behind' and that short hair suggested self assurance to her. I've never thought of myself as self assured so found this really interesting...so, whether you have short hair or not, what does very short hair say to you about a woman?

As far as conventional beauty standards go I've never seen a woman look better with short hair than long.

Karmanomore - yep, agree re hairdressers, have to have mine cut every 4 weeks, when it's short every extra millimetre shows and mine grows super quickly

Never used fake tan or sun beds
Never wear any form of make up
I don't go to the hair dressers
I go to the barbers

When I was teenager in the 80s loads of young women had very short hair but now they all look the same long hair seems to be completely standard. I find the narrowing of beauty norms v. depressing.

Really? All women look better with long hair than short? No regard of their looks, shape of face, size of features, colour and texture of hair. What about men? Do they all magically look better with short hair as Well? head tilt

I wouldn't go up to someone and tell them to grow their hair it's their choice doesn't bother me but that's what I think of when I think of v short hair on women.

Yeah I think men look better with different styles too my do looks better with very short hair yet my exh looked better with shoulder length surfer type hair. But the op didn't ask about men

That's interesting. I have short hair I spend a decent amount of time styling it in the mornings.
I know people with long hair who wake up, brush their hair and that's it.
So I'd say actually, people with long hair can't always be arsed to make an effort.

Biologically, hair is a visual indicator of good nutrition and a better bet as a breeding adult.

Fwiw, I met my DH when I had a short style, and he had a full beard and long, thick black hair he could sit on.

I think if a woman has a very beautiful face and good bone structure then short hair is stunning.
If a woman is more average looking or plain, then long hair makes up for a multitude of sins.

I chose my hair style on the basis of my hair condition and what would suit my face - it says nothing about my personality.

I think it shows confidence not because you have nothing to hide behind, but because it's expected that women will have longer hair, so you have to have a certain level of confidence in order to go against that expectation.

If a man has long hair, i assume theyre a bit of a hippy or into rock. I usually assume theyre open minded

I would love to have short hair but I think it would be more effort in the morning then longer hair. Mine is shoulder length and if it's looking rubbish I can just tie it back. I'd end up with all sorts of sticky up bits to cope with of it was short! And it's very coarse add curly so would have to tame it every day.

I dont think it means anything if a man has short hair or a woman has long hair, because its so universal and common, i dont think it gives any indication of anything

Well it's like anything it depends on the person, when I think of short hair I think of someone older who's given up [
I'm sure that's not the case but i work in the beauty industry and I go out a lot and I hardly ever see women my age or younger with short hair (I'm 31 and my friends rang from 20-35 ish)

It's also interesting as I remember being a child and nearly all the mums had a crop, now I can only think of one or two of the mums at my kids schools who have short hair and they are both a lot older.

I can't be arsed to make an effort tbh, but with short hair I don't need to. I just wash it and it sorts itself out. Took ages to find someone who could cut it like that though.
