A couple of times recently, I've been so flabbergastingly disappointed with a product, I've wanted to tell other people, to save them from the same pain. So I thought it might be useful for us to have a thread, where we could all share this stuff.

I'll start...

Charles Worthington Everyday Gentle Weightless Conditioner, which should be renamed Useless Conditioner. I had high hopes. It promises to stop fine hair from getting bogged down with heavy conditioner. The trouble is that it also doesn't condition or do basic detangling. My DP (who has a hearing problem) could hear my hair breaking when I was brushing it after using the conditioner. That bad.

St Topez in-shower- no discernible difference whatsoever.

Any Frizz Ease products, they make my hair into a frizzy, shiny greasy mess. Doesn't weigh hair down, alters the curl and takes ages to come out again.

They're Real, what a rip-off. My dd forked out for a really expensive Dior mascara and hated it. It made her lashes fall out. I tried in and love it. It doesn't clump and lasts all day.

I'm on the fence about No7 serums. Definitely makes my skin feel softer but haven't noticed the wrinkles disappearing.

Love Curl Cream.

IdaBiscuit · 27/08/2017 07:42

I can spot if someone's used the root spray a mile off. It's a terrible product.

I trialled the batiste 2 in 1 dry shampoo recently, was dreadful. Made my hair very greasy.

Love my big hair though.

Knope2020 · 27/08/2017 07:55

Ugh
8 hour cream
Gave me contact dermatitis....I'll stick with Vaseline

puddingisgood · 27/08/2017 07:56

Bobbi Brown brightening powder. As bad as their shimmer bricks, just far too glittery for me.

mintmagnummm · 27/08/2017 07:57

This has made me think of more now....

Simple skincare all crap! The only thing simple about them is the name! Full of shit that irritate my skin!

GHD's absolute rubbish

Shit I've forgotten the others lol I'll be back....

Knope2020 · 27/08/2017 07:58

Oh and ANY roll on deo

Hulder · 27/08/2017 07:59

All Clinique skincare with the exception of City Block and the Mild Clarifying Lotion. Which they have discontinued Hmm

Going to Clinique for your skincare used to be like a rite of passage in your teens - how it got this amazing reputation I have no idea as most of it's products are like drain cleaner.

UnaPalomaBlanca · 27/08/2017 08:00

L'Oreal Excellence permanent hair dye- 6 washes and 2 hour long swims later and my hair still smells offensively chemical. Thoroughly unpleasant. Never again.

Agree re. Chanel nail polishes- chip and flake after a day or two.

Good stuff- Pearl Drops expensive whitening toothpaste - can't remember exact name but it's about £6- it really makes a visible difference.

KatharinaRosalie · 27/08/2017 08:08

No I definitely wouldn't say all products are shit. There are some that have made a massive difference, but that's for another thread.

I had a bit of an addition and am trying to Marie Kondo my cosmetics as well now - very satisfying. Does not mean I don't occasionally fall for another hyped-up product though.

mintmagnummm · 27/08/2017 08:10

I remembered another....

Moogoo! Shampoo and conditioner was utter shite!

mintmagnummm · 27/08/2017 08:11

Oh and aveeno! So many people swear by it but it irritates me and leaves a film on my skin! It made my sons eczema worse too

HunterHearstHelmsley · 27/08/2017 08:23

Benefit Rollerlash- doesn't last and don't even get using it on your lower lashes unless you want it all over your face.

Urban Decay Glitter liners - Collection is better.

On the other paw, I LOVE my Curl Secret. Perfect curls every time and so easy to use.

SheStoodInTheStorm · 27/08/2017 08:30

Love this thread!!

Liz** Earle cleanse and polish
EL double wear (thanks for aggravating my acne)
Clarisonic
co-lab dry shampoo
Pixi-glow tonic
tata Harper stuff (oh god, the cost Shock)
Tresemme

I'm sure there's more!!!

(Anyone on here using a SLS and silicone free shampoo and conditioner they actually like -I'm after recommendations! Currently using this rainforest stuff from Body Shop but after reading people's comments here it actually explains a lot about my shit hair! )

Oncewaswho · 27/08/2017 08:32

Going against the grain here but I think Barry M nail varnish is rubbish, apart from the Sunset gel ones, all the others I've tried have been streaky and worn/chipped really easily.

I agree about Body Shop Rainforest being awful though, also Boots Curl Creme makes my curls look greasy and rat-tail like (even when only using a tiny amount).

Garnier Micellar Water - stung like hell and gave me eczema.

Knope2020 · 27/08/2017 08:36

I used Liz Earle for 3 years - then they sold up to avon? Loreal?
Anyway the next bottle I bought made my skin burn!!
I swear by lush shampoos and conditioners
My hairdresser now uses lush shampoo after seeing how much better condition mine is in

Bluntness100 · 27/08/2017 08:48

Touché eclat and Ysl mascara for me too. They give me styes in my eyes. Used to get one about once a month, stupidly didn't connect it to my makeup. Switched brands and haven't had a stye in years.

I do love babyliss curl secret though.

GaryBarlowsTaxReturn · 27/08/2017 08:52

I love my babyliss big hair! Makes my hair look sleek and swishy.

I also like the st tropez in shower cream. Two applications & I'm a nice colour.

I do concur about benefit mascara; they are all awful! The rollerlash looked great for an hour and then smudged all over my face Hmm

To add to the shit list is Rodial super acid face peel. £45 and it does nothing.

MotherFeeder · 27/08/2017 09:01

Glad I'm not the only one who loathes the Benefit Mascara. Just bought it because it allegedly leaves no residue.. I have never had mascara run like this! I look like Claudia Winkelman (as lovely as she is, her look is not my look)

Timefortea99 · 27/08/2017 09:15

A lot of these that are repeated here are mine too.

Babyliss Big Hair
Benefits They're Real
Chanel nail polishes and their tan thingy universal mentioned up thread
Essie nail polishes
Colour Wow touch up powder
Palmers Cocoa Butter body lotion - or anything in their range that stinks of chocolate.
Dyson hairdryer
L'Oreal Fine Flowers cleanser

Chocwocdoodah · 27/08/2017 09:18

St Tropez is utter shite. The in-shower stuff does absolutely shite. And the gradual tanner is so streaky - gets worse the more you apply when other ones tend to even out.

Can I also mention Molton Brown?Yes the products smell nice but the scent lasts approximately 5 seconds. You could slather yourself in their shower gel and creams but the smell's gone once you leave the bathroom. And it's not like any of the products actually have any effect on your skin other than to clean it . Overpriced shite.

NomDePlumeReloaded · 27/08/2017 09:18

YY to boots pink curl creme. Greasy and crunchy. How? Yes, I only used a teeny bit.

Nuxe honey lip balm in a pot. Does fuck all for me and is gritty. Give me a tube of Blistex (the red, blue. & white metal tube one) any day of the week, that stuff is magic.

I hate Aussie, it gives me spots in my hairline and weighs my curly hair down something awful. Gives DD great hair though.

Hated my Clarisonic Mia, way too harsh for the face. I should have known. I ended up using it as a body brush instead.

Oral B electric toothbrush. Give me a Sonicare any day. The Oral B is clanky, noisy and crashes around your mouth doing a shit job for the same £££ as the sainted Sonicare.

Benetint. Just dries like Aunt Sally blobs on your face.

Shit products - don't waste your money
Chocwocdoodah · 27/08/2017 09:18

absolutely nothing

GinIsIn · 27/08/2017 09:19

I love NARS and la Roche posay

But all the Charlotte tilbury I've tried has been shit.

NomDePlumeReloaded · 27/08/2017 09:29

Emma Hardy Moringa Cleansing Balm. Way too fragranced and the shittest packaging known to woman. I bought a couple (idiot) and both broke, the outer plastic cracked and came away from the inner before I was even halfway down the pot. It cracked and chipped so badly that I couldn't screw the lid back on. Iit is a pointless pot within a pot design, presumably to make it look like you are getting more for your money.

They are infamous for the shitty quality packaging and yet it doesn't seem to have improved. The stuff is £35+ a pop for 100ml (or was when I last bought it over 5yrs ago), it has probably gone up now. Fucking outrageous. At least make your product fit for purpose.

MarsBarsAreShrinking · 27/08/2017 09:30

Just remembered another one... Urban Decay illuminated highlighting powder. Absolutely crap... no highlighting effects at ALL, but does give you the look of a 70s disco ball so if that's the effect you like then go for it. Shame as I love their eyeshadow pallets.
