A couple of times recently, I've been so flabbergastingly disappointed with a product, I've wanted to tell other people, to save them from the same pain. So I thought it might be useful for us to have a thread, where we could all share this stuff.

I'll start...

Charles Worthington Everyday Gentle Weightless Conditioner, which should be renamed Useless Conditioner. I had high hopes. It promises to stop fine hair from getting bogged down with heavy conditioner. The trouble is that it also doesn't condition or do basic detangling. My DP (who has a hearing problem) could hear my hair breaking when I was brushing it after using the conditioner. That bad.

Agree about the packaging with the EH Balm NomdePlum, but the product itself is marvellous imo. Total game changer for my skin. And I love the smell!

BumWad · 27/08/2017 09:31

The curly girl method

mintmagnummm · 27/08/2017 09:36

Oh agree with nuxe lip balm!

blameitonthebipolar · 27/08/2017 09:42

A few years ago I got a Christian Dior foundation sample with a posh magazine and it made me look amazing! Couldn't remember the name of it etc but earlier this year I was in Debenhams and I had vouchers from Christmas so decided to buy some CD foundation.

I feel like I have been visually mugged.

Their lighting in the shop makes you look really good, stepped onto Church street in Liverpool looking like an extra from the Thriller video and almost £40 lighter.
Horrible stuff, wasn't my lovely one from the magazine ( woman convinced me it was with new name, packaging etc )

Christian Dior Diorstar foundation- yuck

BumWad · 27/08/2017 09:45

Absolutely love the Clinique skincare range - especially the clarifying lotion.

I do have very strong skin though

VanillaFrosties · 27/08/2017 09:53

I actually like the Wow touch up root powder.

VanillaFrosties · 27/08/2017 09:55

Tinny Woodhall does great facebook/YouTube videos in hair and skin products. She swears by Last Roche Posay but I haven't tried it yet.

And YY to Clinique. paint stripper

blameitonthebipolar · 27/08/2017 09:56

To add- I really like the L'Oréal root spray but my hair is really dark so seems to blend really well.

I have used Aussie shampoo for years and love it. Recently switched to the Mega shampoo and much prefer it to the miracle moist.

BananaSandwichesEveryDay · 27/08/2017 10:04

I used to love Liz Earle eye shadow - so velvety smooth and long lasting. When it was discontinued I bought a Benefit eyeshadow which I was assured would be even better. It felt like I was rubbing coarse grade sandpaper over my eyes! Awful, awful stuff.

I love LE face, hair and body care, but don't rate any of the make up now. I guess it goes to show that what works for one person doesn't necessarily work for everyone.

user95 · 27/08/2017 10:05

NO7 Mousse Tan
Bio Oil Hmm
Treseme Hair Mask (felt lovely to put on but did nothing for my hair)
Primark Nail Varnish
Clairol Colour Crave Hair Makeup (bloomin' useless, don't bother Angry)
Avon Bath Paint
Rimmel Stay Matte Foundation (cakey, blotchy, streaky, orange... just everything you don't look for in a foundation basically)

If I think of any more, I'll let you know!

LoniceraJaponica · 27/08/2017 10:06

It is very clear to me that a lot depends on your skin type. I have even tempered skin and the only thing I have ever reacted to was a lotion that slowed down the regrowth of hair on my legs. I notice that it was taken off the market shortly afterwards.

user95 · 27/08/2017 10:08

Oh and Max Factor Photo Finish Foundation Full Coverage.... it literally may as well have been tap water, full coverage my backside!

Butterfly1975 · 27/08/2017 10:08

Great thread Smile

Am just about to chuck an almost full bottle of Phil Smith shampoo away (Sainsbury answer to CW) as it made my hair condition look so awful. Not even that cheap either Shock Agree with others about the Aussie stuff. It gives me dandruff and their dry shampoo is just dreadful.

Have been grateful for the M&S beauty box as there's been some awful products in there that I might have wasted money on buying at full price. The Gatineau lip plumper dried out my lips to paper and their miracle Formula sleep cream broke me out in terrible spots!

battenbergbutterfly · 27/08/2017 10:12

Benefit They're Real, absolutely crap.
Aussie shampoo

blameitonthebipolar · 27/08/2017 10:12

I always use conditioner I don't like to shave my legs!

lynmilne65 · 27/08/2017 10:21

You are all wonderful at cheering me up; someone crashed into my car whilst it was in a carpark
And the fekking insurance say I have to pay £400Angry

Ijustneedmycoffee · 27/08/2017 10:51

Those of you with burgeoning cupboards of products, gather your stuff and donate it to your local women's refuge.

I'm in the 'most skincare is crap' camp. That Eve Lom cleanser nonsense. I reckon I could make a pot for about 75p. If I was mass producing, probably 50p. Not joking. These companies make FORTUNES.

Make up is slightly different. Some is worth it. Chanel Les Beiges utter shite. I do like their foundation tho.
Any blusher. Disappears in minutes.
Bio oil. Overpriced mineral oil. Don't know where all he love comes from.

Glowinginthedark · 27/08/2017 10:51

Garnier Olia hair dye, absolutely awful! Colour was more washed out and faded looking than before I dyed it, was awful to apply just dryed out hair and tangled it instantly, hair get dry and awful after washing and drying and had to get the split ends trimmed off. Never again!

coconutwater1 · 27/08/2017 11:20

I dont have sensitive skin but thought I would try Clinque skincare for a change, Jesus it was like nitromors, took it all back for a refund.

I use Clarins but over the years I think the quality has gone downhill, the beauty flash balm is rubbish and does nothing for my skin. All the array of new lotions and potions they have brought out are not as good as the mainstay creams of years ago. So when this lots done Im not buying anymore.

Agree with the Chanel nail varnishes chips to easy, better off with Revlon and the colours are so much nicer.

Paul Mitchell products gave me a skin rash and my ear actually split behind, doc told me to use the cheap as chips supermarket shampoo, he was right.

Tried umpteen expensive mascaras , all not as good IMO as maybelinne.

Molton Brown is another that has gone down hill, stopped using it after the EU discovered a poison in some products and MB kept using it, dont know if it still the case.

greenlavender · 27/08/2017 12:01

I love Babyliss & Batiste. Second what everyone says about Touché Eclat & the Benefit mascaras. Surprised no one has mentioned Clarins Beauty Flash Balm - that was rubbish too, £££s to make make up slide off my face!

Hulder · 27/08/2017 12:04

Bio-oil. Mineral oil with a bit of fragrance. Applied to scars and stretch marks that fade by themselves naturally.

Despite knowing this, I still bought some

greenlavender · 27/08/2017 12:04

Oh & I'm a big Liz Earle skincare fan but their make up & NV is pants. Not as pants though as their haircare.

coconutwater1 · 27/08/2017 12:26

''Surprised no one has mentioned Clarins Beauty Flash Balm - that was rubbish too, £££s to make make up slide off my face!''

Er a few of us have, just look at the post above yours!

WooWooWitchetyWoo · 27/08/2017 12:41

Agree on Molton
Brown - l'occitane is the same; smells nice when you put it on, doesn't last at all. A lot of the Nuxe stuff too. I just want to smell like almonds or coconuts ALL DAY Angry

Rainatnight · 27/08/2017 12:55

@Morris Laughing at 'Fuck you, Michael Kors'. I want that on a tshirt.

Totally agree about beauty flash balm. Makes me look like the Tin Man.
