A couple of times recently, I've been so flabbergastingly disappointed with a product, I've wanted to tell other people, to save them from the same pain. So I thought it might be useful for us to have a thread, where we could all share this stuff.

I'll start...

Charles Worthington Everyday Gentle Weightless Conditioner, which should be renamed Useless Conditioner. I had high hopes. It promises to stop fine hair from getting bogged down with heavy conditioner. The trouble is that it also doesn't condition or do basic detangling. My DP (who has a hearing problem) could hear my hair breaking when I was brushing it after using the conditioner. That bad.

I love Clinique City Block.

But Hawaiian Tropic body spray, it's pants. I was so excited because I love how the sunscreen smells. Nope. I gave it to DD2 because she's at that age where she sprays an entire can of Impulse on to go out.

WellTidy · 26/08/2017 22:42

Everyone raves about the biotherm sensibio micellar water. It was no better for me than the L'Oréal micellar water, but about 4 times more expensive.

Anything by Rodial, I don't rate their stuff at all and it is super pricey.

Piffpaffpoff · 26/08/2017 22:44

Liz Earle hot cloth polish stuff (can't remember the proper name) was a disaster for me, face went really red and I had to stop. Thankfully that was just a trial pack,

CantChoose · 26/08/2017 22:44

Totally agree on the silicone free hair stuff. Makes my hair look awful.

I love babyliss big hair, Liz Earle cleanse and polish, they're real mascara and a couple of others too.

My most shit hyped product is liquid gold. The day after I used It i thought I'd found a miracle but thereafter it gives me loads of tiny whiteheads. Awful.

Piffpaffpoff · 26/08/2017 22:45

Oh and micellar water - makes me really spotty!

WooWooWitchetyWoo · 26/08/2017 22:45

I love liquid gold!

BabychamSocialist · 26/08/2017 22:46

Plantur 39 or whatever it's called these days. NINE QUID for a bottle and it made no difference at all.

Yves Saint Laurent Kouros - for those times when you want your husband to smell like a urinal cake.

Welldoneme · 26/08/2017 22:46

Some of the replies on this thread are hilarious!

St tropez in shower tan, absolute load of crap. How on earth the trades descriptions haven't pulled the product I will never know.
Charlotte tilbury foundation, load of bollox made my pores look like Katie prices large fanny.
Benefit they're real, more like real spiders another crap product.
Liz Earle cleanse and polish gave me big zits.
Estée Lauder double wear couldn't get the bloody stuff off my face
Hollander and Barrett bootea made me sweat like a pig
That root touch up spray another shit product.
Chanel polishes are 100% crap as are opi.
Bobbi brown blusher fucked off my cheeks after a few minutes, still on the floor somewhere, load of wank that was and not cheap either.

PerfumeIsAMessage · 26/08/2017 22:49

Oh god, I'd forgotten when I tried Bare Minerals. I looked like an exhumed Barbara Cartland.

Maelstrop · 26/08/2017 22:51

Benefit They're Real. Looked like I'd eaten Aragog and he was trying to crawl out of my eyes.

I really like this, it really enhances the outer lashes. Mascara is my only make up, it does dry up quickly. The YSL ones are, however, better.

Batiste dry shampoo is crap. I was housebound after an accident, it just turned my (ginger) hair white and took ages to brush out.

Rainatnight · 26/08/2017 22:52

Go on, welldoneme, get it all off your chest!

Perfume splutters at the screen

That Bouffee hair spray to thicken and colour the thinning hair when suffering from Menopause or hypothyroidism. It is awful stuff you can't get a comb through your hair after it is put in!
I used to pay a lot for Philosophy bubble bath , I had more money than sense. Now I get the cheapest bubble bath I can and to hell with it.

intergalacticbrexitdisco · 26/08/2017 22:53

Aussie hair products, and Dove hair stuff as well. All turned my (fine, fair) hair dry and straw-like.

Badger sunscreens...they don't screen the sun. I am shiny and red in all my honeymoon photos.

Pantryboy · 26/08/2017 22:55

I do like Benefit they're real mascara though and love Batiste dry shampoo..... funny that

Hairq · 26/08/2017 22:56

I usually find the haircate at Aldi to be pretty decent - at least in line with the high street stuff that it's supposed to be dupes of. However, I bought a conditioner in a black bottle from there a few weeks ago and somehow it actually managed to decondition hair. I have no idea how it is so so bad. I put it on in the shower and my hair instantly felt like it had been stripped of all moisture and matted up into something akin to a Brillo pad. It was even worse when I dried it. Tried it once more to check and it didn't the same thing. Now being used as shaving cream when I have my legs.

OhWhatFuckeryIsThisNow · 26/08/2017 23:02

Salt spray-any salt spray, look like the Scarecrows mum.
St tropez shower in. Why did I think showering, getting out, waiting like a plum for five minutes then getting back in was a good use of my time?
Benefit eye shadow makes my eyes puff up. And they are glittery and gritty.
Mac mascara, just round me up and take me back to the panda enclosure.

MusicToMyEars800 · 26/08/2017 23:04

The Benefit mascaras work best on people who already have long, dark, full lashes and want them to be even longer, fuller and darker.
^this^
I find they work well for me but I do have quite good eyelashes already.
I agree with the poster who said about Colgate max white, they are the only ones that work for me too also the Mr Blanc charcoal polish is very good too.
Dry shampoo, any one I use just makes my hair look awful!
All John Frieda products.
Most of the other Benefit Make up just doesn't seem to work for me!
Gucci Bamboo perfume, I love the smell but it's barely noticeable after an hour or 2!
Bio Oil, just never did anything for me, I keep getting tempted to go back to it though... that's the power of marketing though.
Pixi Glow Tonic, I had high hopes and even praised it to begin with but after time goes on.... just awful my skin is awful and that has not helped.

SpareChangeDownTheSofa · 26/08/2017 23:06

Any binbags without handles. My brother bought some for me and they were the most frustrating things I've ever used!

SylviaPoe · 26/08/2017 23:07

Benefit high beam works also, but then I've never had a highlighter that didn't work. It's a really easy product to get right.

margaritasbythesea · 26/08/2017 23:07

Oh god I had forgotten Elemis Cleansing Balm recommended for supersensitive skin all over the place.

I saw a red raw rash developing across my face as I applied it. It sits in my drawer reminding me never to do it again!

Also Body Shop Rainforest. An amazing confection that made my fine unruly hair into instant hard straw. Thankyou.

MusicToMyEars800 · 26/08/2017 23:11

The Herbal Essences silicone free shampoos and conditoners are really good, I love the white raspberry and mint one, it smells blooming gorgeous and my hair is left soft and shiny.
I have got a shampoo and conditioner that is free from all the 'shit' has brazillian keratin etc etc in it and it makes my hair go like straw, it's horrid!!

MarsBarsAreShrinking · 26/08/2017 23:22

Benefit kaBrow! Absolutely shit. Clumpy and thick. Made my eyebrows look like messy slugs.

Bare Minerals. Terrible stuff. Spent a fortune on the whole face range. Massive pores ahoy.

ELDW. Went on like wallpaper paste and looked about as good. To be fair I've got very dry skin so I don't think it was ever going to work well for me.

flamingnoravera · 26/08/2017 23:24

Another touche eclat hater here too. It gave me contact dermatitis. Not a great look when it's supposed to be a concealer.
