A couple of times recently, I've been so flabbergastingly disappointed with a product, I've wanted to tell other people, to save them from the same pain. So I thought it might be useful for us to have a thread, where we could all share this stuff.

I'll start...

Charles Worthington Everyday Gentle Weightless Conditioner, which should be renamed Useless Conditioner. I had high hopes. It promises to stop fine hair from getting bogged down with heavy conditioner. The trouble is that it also doesn't condition or do basic detangling. My DP (who has a hearing problem) could hear my hair breaking when I was brushing it after using the conditioner. That bad.

Avon dry shampoo. Makes it more greasy!!

lotsofconfuse · 27/08/2017 18:39

I love benefit they're real! Although I have naturally long eyelashes which I think helps... Grin

BoreOfWhabylon · 27/08/2017 18:57

What is the name of this super handcream please?

I've just ordered a giant jar of Ponds Cold Cream from Amazon Grin - I used to love it years and years ago.

I must speak up in defense of L'Occitane soaps though - their big bars last for months, smell gorgeous, are kind to skin and much much cheaper than shower gels.

Laiste · 27/08/2017 19:28

Haven't yet found an oil or serum which does anything at all. And i really want to find a good one!

Most recent total disappointments have been that nip-fab dragons blood one and before that the Elemis superfood one (££££ Hmm). Keratise hair oil cost me a fortune and smelled divine but just turns my hair into a heavy mess. (even when put on veeeery sparingly)

sulee · 27/08/2017 19:29

Everyone else seems to rave about it but coconut oil for hair did absolutely nothing for me though I desperately wanted it to.

Hulder · 27/08/2017 19:38

Don't know - I was in Germany! It was skincare heaven I tell you Grin

It was however a urea cream so something like Flexitol Hand Balm would be similar which Google tells me is only £4.79.

BoreOfWhabylon · 27/08/2017 19:40

Ah, thanks Hulder

ginorwine · 27/08/2017 19:50

Wood Hill
Wow root touch up is good - from hairdresser or cheaper via internet .

woodhill · 27/08/2017 19:53

Thanks, I didn't like the eyeshadow one from Boots either.

Also Josh Woods one was pinky.

explodingkittens · 27/08/2017 20:00

Bought a load of La Roche Posay after reading over and over again about how it was the Holy Grail for skin like mine (ie spotty). Bloody awful stuff. Made my skin dry, red, sore, flakey and brought me up in great big, painful cystic lumps all along my jawline and all over my chin. Apparently this is a 'purge' and I should've just stuck with it...fuck that, frankly.

The Ordinary is a triumph of marketing and not much else.

Am not that impressed with Laura Mercier and her tinted moisturiser, neither...

Chanel foundation - smelled and made my face orange
Chanel nail polish- gloopy

MorrisZapp · 27/08/2017 20:27

The hand cream is Wuta Kamille, it's available on eBay. The little tins of it are sometimes in Waitrose too.

MorrisZapp · 27/08/2017 20:29

Tons of it on amazon too. It smells sooooo nice.

MorrisZapp · 27/08/2017 20:30

Have to say I love OPI nail polish, and elemis pro collagen marine cream.

Dizzybintess · 27/08/2017 20:45

Sadly Klorane shampoo and conditioner just made my hair greasy and smell like a nursing home!

Dizzybintess · 27/08/2017 20:45

Also pixie Lott hair chalk is bloody useless

bigkidsdidit · 27/08/2017 20:47

I love Beauty Flash Balm, but agree with the hatred for Chanel nail polishes, all Clinique skincare and the BBH.

Seche Vite top coat is terrible for me too - it comes off in sheets. Literally the only polish which stays on me is Rimmel Gel. I have every colour Grin

I thought oil cleansing was awful too. Made my skin terrible - dry and spotty.

Rainatnight · 27/08/2017 20:49

So cheered by the hate for Essie. I thought it was just me not 'getting it'. I've recently given mine away to a seven year old.

Chanel nail varnish lasts for ages on my toenails and doesn't chip, even after being in the pool. It doesn't last quite so well on my finger nails however it does depend on a decent base coat.
I'm not too happy with Nars face primer- it seems to just slide off, taking anything else with it.

bigkidsdidit · 27/08/2017 21:14

Is there any cream blusher which isn't shit?

minifingerz · 27/08/2017 21:19

"I know people will disagree, but babyliss big hair. It makes my hair look fried and takes months to sit down straight again."

I think they've changed the bristles or something and it doesn't work as well as it used to.

My old one made my hair very smooth. The new one makes it look like felt. Hmm

BuzzKillington · 27/08/2017 21:26

I love Essie - I must have 50 of them.

It lasts a week on me.

Hate Seche Vite though - it comes off my nails in sheets.

BobbinThreadbare123 · 27/08/2017 21:28

Boots No. 7 cream stick blushed is not shit.

BobbinThreadbare123 · 27/08/2017 21:29

Seche Vite is balls. Thought it was only me that ipdidnt get the love for it.
