A couple of times recently, I've been so flabbergastingly disappointed with a product, I've wanted to tell other people, to save them from the same pain. So I thought it might be useful for us to have a thread, where we could all share this stuff.

I'll start...

Charles Worthington Everyday Gentle Weightless Conditioner, which should be renamed Useless Conditioner. I had high hopes. It promises to stop fine hair from getting bogged down with heavy conditioner. The trouble is that it also doesn't condition or do basic detangling. My DP (who has a hearing problem) could hear my hair breaking when I was brushing it after using the conditioner. That bad.

Wrong thread! 😂

fivefour3twoone · 27/08/2017 15:25

Ester Lauder double wear concealer (the one in the small round navy pot). Did not cover a f'in thing. And cost me about £25 grrr

ladystarkers · 27/08/2017 15:26

St tropez in shower stuff. Did not work. And you get cold.

ladystarkers · 27/08/2017 15:28

Sally Hansen legs. Tried it on holiday..., the mess, it actually turned the grout brown.🙈It also stained my dress. It doesmake your legs look ace.

NomDePlumeReloaded · 27/08/2017 15:33

I like the tube/lotion version of SH airbrush (palest colour) but not the spray can. All I get is a streaky mess from that.

hollyisalovelyname · 27/08/2017 16:02

Clarins hand cream - lovely smell but totally overpriced for what it is - an ok handcream.
L'occitane Handcream - ditto.
Micellar water- stings my eyes.
Simple - stings my eyes

Hulder · 27/08/2017 16:06

Best handcream I ever got was something for about 3 euros in a German drugstore. It had urea in it which is a really popular ingredient over there.

Since then I have been very Hmm about all expensive handcreams as I wonder what I'm supposed to be paying for.

whyhastherumgone · 27/08/2017 16:10

I really want a babyliss big hair Blush i have fine hair so maybe it will work for me...

Thought of another one - Coca Butter Heel Balm. Promises to soften cracked heels - mine still look like trotters, just really greasy ones. Does absolutely nothing.

KatharinaRosalie · 27/08/2017 16:18

I love my big hair (not necessarily babyliss, but they all work pretty much the same) so much I also got an US version for business travel (different voltage) and one that lives in my gym bag.

MaryLennoxsScowl · 27/08/2017 16:39

Bobbi Brown serum foundation - cost a fortune and gave me a rash.

Agree with Bare Minerals! Enhances pores and makes you look like you dipped your face in a sandpit.

Lush heel callus removing bar thingy didn't remove any dead skin but it did dye my heels a fetchingly neon orange.

MaryLennoxsScowl · 27/08/2017 16:44

Also, Lush curly wurly shampoo has actual coconut flakes in it that get stuck in your hair and won't rinse out, like you have huge flaky dandruff. Exactly what one wants in a shampoo!

I do like Benetint though.

blueshoes · 27/08/2017 16:52

Flash eyelashes and that clear Duo glue. Clear my foot.

I'm sure the Eve Lom cleanser is Vaseline. I do like the rescue face mask though.

randomun where do you get pounds cold cream from. I have used it since I was 17 but the pots have got smaller and my local Boots doesn't stock it anymore, neither their own brand of cold cream Sad

veryveryquietly · 27/08/2017 17:16

@beeny I found the Charlotte Tilbury Magic Cream to be crap. Glad I only got a sample, as it felt greasy and sticky and claggy and ugh.

The Magic Eye Cream, weirdly, was much better. Still didn't buy it though as it's crazy prices.

CT is pretty good with samples though so maybe get one and see if it works for you.

Agree Chanel nail polish is lovely coloured crap crap chippy crap. Dior is better, but wait a tiny bit and someone like Barry M will dupe it for a fraction of the cost.

Kiehl's Midnight Recovery Eye Cream - £26 and did less despite weeks of use than a cold clean washcloth would have.

DuchessofManchester · 27/08/2017 17:23

Aussie conditioner used to be really good but last few times I've used it hair feels greasy and lank. Have they changed something in it?
Herbal essences blue bottle shampoo and conditioner. Looked like worzel gummidge afterwards.

FoofFighter · 27/08/2017 17:43

@Shestoodinthestorm Have you tried OGX range? I luffs it.

WomblingThree · 27/08/2017 17:44

@SheStoodInTheStorm I like the Palmers range. I use the olive or the cocoa butter shampoo. They do a conditioner as well but I haven't tried that yet. For silk cone free conditioner, I use either Fructis or Alberto Balsam from the pound shop.

Whoever mentioned Curl Creme, there is a technique to it. You need to use it on soaking wet hair, and emulsify it between your hands. Then you need to squish it in until your wet curls start to clump and separate.

I'm glad so many people have mentioned Doublewear. I've been thinking about saving up to get some but I don't think I'll bother.

MorrisZapp · 27/08/2017 17:47

Hulder, was the German handcream the stuff in a green tube with a yellow flower? That stuff is cheap as chips and bloody awesome.

beeny · 27/08/2017 17:49

Thanks veryveryquietly.

Abra1d · 27/08/2017 17:49

I love the l'Occitane Divine Extract cream and serum. Expensive but good.

And all their almond range.

Oncewaswho · 27/08/2017 17:59

Wombling - that is what I did with my curl creme, read it on here somewhere. Just dipped one finger tip in to coat so not using too much either, I have a lot of hair. Still got crunchy, lanky rat tails. Tried many times, eventually binned.

Melabela10 · 27/08/2017 18:00

hmm, i like most of the products on hate list here

la rochay posay effeclair tinted BB cream is the best i ever used ( i use it when i have acne breakouts) on the other days i use Double wear estee lauder its heavy but stays on for long and doesnt clog although quite heavy (new double wear aqua solves this) and i like Ausie hair shampoo too.

on my hate list:

smash box mascara - leave panda eyes
smash box studio foundation - doesnt blend in well and looks like a mask
smash box oil free primer is the best primer i ever used though

newest parlux advanced light hair dryer - biggest disappointment ever...cant say its bad but i expected it to be much more different from my 20 quid dryer.its the same. after owing ghd aura and couple of other expensive hairdryers i learnt itss more about technique rather than the costly hairdryer

Regularsizedrudy · 27/08/2017 18:05

I used to love Aussie miracle moist but I tried it again recently and it made my head itchy and did nothing for my hair! I've always been underwhelmed by benefit products and everything I've ever had from illamasqua has been pure crap!

Hulder · 27/08/2017 18:24

Morris yes it was!

Puts L'Occitane and anyone else bragging about their handcreams to shame.
