I am on the hunt for a deep chestnut pair of pull on calf length boots.

Anyone seen anything decent?

Also what is up with Toast this year?

Re pinterest I also find interiors pins too American a lot of their time. Their idea of a "small sitting room" is about the size of my entire flat.

Squashit · 09/08/2017 20:59

Glad it not just me re Toast. The calf length puffy skirts with short yet boxy jumpers and further added style bonus of socks and clunky shoes.

The proportions seem all wrong.

Now I like a bit of tweed, cord wool etc but more longline and more artsy. The boots ming this year.

I do like the suede bag but at over £300 that is ridiculous.

Long skirt seekers, I have just spotted this. I was looking for something a little more elegant and less casual but that hazel colour is lovely for me.

whyhastherumgone · 09/08/2017 21:01

I'm after anything that will look flattering on a short pear shape - i always hanker for the loose slouchy things but they make me look massive! Fashion is not my friend :(

"When you've only got a few square metres for your utility room..." Confused

As an officially old person with a penchant for nice clothes, I think I have most of my requirements from days gone by. And being ancient, I am not sure I need the latest iterations. My strategy is to wait and make do until the detail crystallises in my mind. Then, and only then, I will look for for really trendy details.

OCSockOrphanage · 09/08/2017 21:21

Until then, the only thing I have to buy is one or two perfect navy T shirts. I threw the last one away recently . Anyone seen one?

Tentomidnight · 09/08/2017 22:11

I love the Oasis perfect basic tshirts. They fit and drape well.

horis I browse capsule wardrobe boards, and search for either broad terms like 'minimalist Street style' or types of clothing that I have or want, to get ideas about how to style - eg Chelsea boots, leather skirts, stan Smiths

I don't find specific items to buy via Pinterest, I just get ideas for how to put outfits together, and work out what things I actually want to be looking for. So for example, a lot of the looks I was pinning for styling boots and trainers had loose shirts and chunky jumpers with leather leggings. So many outfits had leather leggings, and so it's something I'd never have looked at in a shop, but pinterest gives me ideas for what might work in my wardrobe

So now I've thought about leather leggings as an autumn purchase to jazz up my wardrobe, then I can browse the usual retailers to see what they have - and pin the ones I like.

I really like the capsule wardrobe boards as they give me ideas to do more with less (I'm being ruthless about clearing stuff out. Although I still absolutely need 7 pairs of skinnies. Ahem)

I am just over 5ft tall, straight up and down size 8 so why did I end up with size 6 feet? I crave ankle boots with a small heel that I can wear with skirts and dresses but they are all too wide in the leg and look ridiculous. Suggestions welcome.

Floisme · 10/08/2017 07:17

I've been browsing some sites and I'm finding the menswear more interesting than women's at the moment. I need to find a tailor.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 10/08/2017 08:12

I love Autumn clothes! Last March I bought some brown brogues with heels and some boots as I came into a bit of money and knew I would need these by the winter, so I'm excited to wear them. I was hoping to be a lot thinner by Autumn, which isn't going to happen (unless I contract e-coli or something equally sinister)
I don't know if this is on trend whatsoever, but I love rich autumn colours and that slightly preppy look, thick woollen tights, scarfs. I desperately need cardigans, but I'm very fussy about fit and also thickness as too chunky a knit makes me look a bit round.
Following this thread for inspiration!

QueenoftheAndals · 10/08/2017 08:26

LoveBeingaMum, same here. I'm tall with size 8 feet but ankle boots in my size look ridiculously wide on me. The only pair I have that aren't are by Ted and Muffy but they kill my feet after a couple of hours!

UmbrellasKeepFallingOnMyHead · 10/08/2017 08:33

Not lusting after but I'm looking forward to wearing my brown Dune pixie boots. I got them for Christmas and only managed a couple of wears. Although I wouldn't mind a black pair.
I am going to be looking out for a decent black jumper, preferably cowl neck to wear with a cute red skirt I picked up yesterday in a sale.

Another signing in for Autumn shopping plans! Is there a 'key trends AW17' thread yet?

I am after a longer wool coat that I can wear over my just below the knee dresses without a couple of inches of said dresses poking out the bottom.

I would like some jersey dresses that fall just above the knee with sleeves in Autumnal colours.

RussellTheLoveMuscle · 10/08/2017 10:53

Oh those Dune boots are beautiful...

JemandScout · 10/08/2017 11:28

v-neck jumpers. Love the red

JemandScout · 10/08/2017 11:30

not sur why I like this but I do

JemandScout · 10/08/2017 11:35

First 2 links don't work. I will try again

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 10/08/2017 12:17

Love the colour of this but not the neckline or the fabric.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 10/08/2017 12:19

And am in love with this dress but fear it would be far too long for me.

Talisin · 10/08/2017 13:00

Ladies that have bought the Jigsaw Cara boots - are they narrow or wide-ish fitting? Am in love with the cranberry coloured ones.
