I am on the hunt for a deep chestnut pair of pull on calf length boots.

Anyone seen anything decent?

Also what is up with Toast this year?

RussellTheLoveMuscle
They are truly a work of art.
I have a funny story about them actually.
I saw them on my Doctor whilst I was having a colposcopy and forgot to ask her where they were from. I posted a thread on here asking if it would be weird to ring the clinic and ask her. Some nice S+B MNetter found them by my description so I didn't have to. Grin
The opinion was I should ring btw.

Have you looked at Welligogs.com for really comfortable all leather (and suede) boots. Their Sloane boot is great for walking (the dog if you have one ) or if you are out with the children In the wet or really muddy areas. Their Mayfair in 3 colours with detachable tassels is a bit more elegant with a heel. All Welligogs boots are also fully waterproof and keep you warm in winterSmile

Did someone say corduroy is coming back? Uh oh. I fear my student love of this may not translate as well to my current status. But I love cord so much!

DilysMoon · 10/08/2017 13:35

Thank you for this thread, i love all things Autumn and this thread is making me happy. Can't afford to update my wardrobe by much but thinking it's time for a new pair of Celtic boots, knee high this time, my current ones are on their 4th year and going strong.

AuntPol · 10/08/2017 13:43

Some great ideas on here!

I made the mistake of trying on these lovely but £££ Chelsea boots ages ago and now I can't find any cheaper ones that I like as much.

I also quite like these ted & muffy long suede boots

Autumn is my favourite clothes season in the shops - it always seems such a waste buying summer stuff when you live in the U.K.

taybert · 10/08/2017 13:52

I'm actually wearing summer clothing for the first time in weeks today. I do love suede and leather and merino and cashmere though. And cord.

Floisme · 10/08/2017 14:22

taybert one of my favourite vintage shops has a display of cords at the moment and they never miss a fashion trick so I'm taking that as a green light Smile They had a beautifully cut pair, really thick and with a Madison Ave label that I'm very tempted by but feel I ought to shop around a bit more first.

(And they've got some beautiful men's overcoats too - pure wool, exactly what I want - sizing aside - and under £40. I'm very tempted to take a punt that I can get it altered.)

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 10/08/2017 14:27

I don't need this and can't afford it, and it wouldn't suit me but for anybody wanting a trench coat ooooooh.

TheLesserWeevil · 10/08/2017 14:42

Cords are back in?? Seriously?! I'd love me some cords. Can anyone tell me how to style them so I look passable? I last had a pair about 20 years ago, that I would sling on with a very tight t shirt and a pair of gazelles and be totally ready for a big night out. Sigh...

boldlygoingsomewhere · 10/08/2017 15:06

I love Autumn - it's my favourite season for dressing. I'm on the hunt for some decent boots and heeled work shoes. Quite tempted by some brogues.

In terms of fabrics, I'm also on the hunt for tweed items and velvet. I love cord too but am wary of looking like my student self again!

That tweed Uniqlo coat is lovely.

Tentomidnight · 10/08/2017 15:09

I trued on the M&S tweedy coat today. Lightweight but lined and looks more expensive than £69. Not me at all though, unfortunately.

taybert · 10/08/2017 15:14

Argh! Remus! I don't need that and I can't afford it. But it might suit me.... Might be best for me to leave this thread alone...

Floisme · 10/08/2017 16:01

I've seen that Hobbs trenchcoat for real and it's as lovely as you say Remus. But let's face it, a trenchcoat doesn't even keep off the rain. (I can be found sounding off about this on another thread.) I only want one cos I've been watching too many Humphrey Bogart films.

JemandScout · 10/08/2017 17:05

Nope. No idea what's going on m.johnlewis.com/winser-london-merino-wool-v-neck-jumper/rich-burgundy

JemandScout · 10/08/2017 17:06

I give up. Just type in the above if you are on the look out for a burgundy v neck

Ollivander84 · 10/08/2017 17:09

Talisin - I wouldn't say wide, I have quite narrow feet

Pippin8 · 10/08/2017 17:12

Jem, I have that ted baker wrap coat in camel & it's very warm & fairly heavy.

JemandScout · 10/08/2017 17:23

I love those boots AuntPol.

Thank you for that Pippin I may take a closer look. Just need to sort a decent waterproof first. I have narrowed it to 3 options:

ReinettePompadour · 10/08/2017 17:24

Squashit how much do you want to pay ?

These are very very comfy. But obviously pricey and maybe not to your style?

JemandScout · 10/08/2017 17:24

My fave but ££, m.johnlewis.com/lauren-ralph-lauren-asym-raincoat-black/p/3294924

JemandScout · 10/08/2017 17:28

Not as stylish as others but like the burgundy and good for the £ www.uniqlo.com/uk/en/product/women-blocktech-coat-400699.html

ReinettePompadour · 10/08/2017 17:30

nigelsbigface Have you tried Didriksons for warm parkas?

www.outdoorworlddirect.co.uk/didriksons-lina-women-s-parka.html

JemandScout · 10/08/2017 17:36

Very nice parkas. I have saved the green one to pinterest.

I think I am going to invest in boots from Ecco again. The pair I bought in 2010 are at the end off their life and I know they will accommodate my wide feet. I will put links up to the two I like, one pair are a lovely brown which I think someone else wanted.
