I am on the hunt for a deep chestnut pair of pull on calf length boots.

Anyone seen anything decent?

Also what is up with Toast this year?

Love love love autumn, always my favourite season for clothes. I'm determined to get my casual clothes sorted this season, I've focussed on my work wardrobe for the past year or so as I've been grubbing around on the floor after a toddler. Now he's off to a not very posh pre-prep and given I work from home more than the office I need to sort out a more polished look for outside of work.

What I really want is to slim into the boxes of gorgeous pre-DS clothes I have in the loft from when I had a figure and disposable income I'm such a cliche but may splurge on something from my old life favourites of By Marlene Birger or Anglomania with my birthday money.

I've been debating culottes and boots too Remus, or perhaps ankle length wide legged (are these still culottes? I'm never sure of the definition and when a culotte becomes a trouser Confused). Anyway, I have visions of wearing a pair with these in red which I realise are very Marmite and probably more office wear for me than casual anyway.

I know yellow isn't a very autumnal colour, but I am very drawn to this mohair jumper. Would it be terribly itchy though?

For those after tweed it might be worth seeking out any local county fairs on ploughing matches, they usually have country clothing stores and some hidden gems.

I've been looking for a cross body bag which is big enough for purse, phone, keys and a nappy and half a pack of wipes for a while. I also get annoyed at flaps so want it to zip open at the top. Found this Hobbs one which I think fits the bill and looks nice.

I also saw these online last night and quite liked them though it may have been the wine talking.

I'd like some tan Chelsea boots too.

Can anyone point to the key AW17 trends anywhere? Feeling out of touch (also have potentially a big bill hitting or not in September - could be anything between £100 and £1000 and so am trying to spend nothing yet until I know how horrible September will be - frustrating when you are all posting links to lovely things!!)

teybert - I rather love those boots, and clarks will be comfy. However I am not fashionable at all so might not be the best to ask...

Kitten I like them too I just wasn't sure about the wooden heel but I think they're nice. I'm not going to ask if anyone thinks they're mum boots!

Taybert how about Russel and Bromley and their broguey style boots? I got them last year and they go well with black jeans as well as blue jeans

It's going to be 15 degrees in london today. Anyone jumping at the chance to wear boots and jeans for the day? Grin

Got a gorgeous parka for my birthday from DH, thank you for the recommendation.

Have also just spent Birthday money on some black Fly Salv boots. Basically 5 years late to the Chelsea Boot party. Figure they'll look good with jeans/wet look trousers and parka...as well as with a sporty sweater, bum covering stretchy skirt and tights. Or I'll look like a mum to an 8 month old, desperately searching for her sanity and waist Confused

I love dresses but I've been in them for months now - it's nice to have a change.
Delighted to be in boots and jeans today - waiting for the rain to start here!

mowgeli Russell and Bromley do have some lovely looking ones, but a little more than I wanted to spend really. Dune seem to have some similar styles which are nice too. To be honest I saw the Joules ones today too which looked nice.

Also, the temperature in Yorkshire has regularly been around 15-18 degrees recently, I wore sandals this week and felt like a right twonk. And cold!

So here's a question. Denim dress, tan knee boots, what colour tights?

Report
taybert · 30/08/2017 18:27

Not knee boots, Chelsea boots. Duh.

Anyone know of some good quality jeans which won't need to be altered to fit my height at 5ft ?

I have my eyes out for long sleeved body con dresses, a see through black scarf, tight long sleeve tops that are stretchy (I hope m&s will do some this year but not as thick as the ones they have had the last two years)
A long flowery or starry dress and actually I do think I saw one in m&s that I loved whilst hearing someone say it was horrendous Hmm

At 5'2" I find trousers generally look better from the petite ranges (although not always, my current favourites are some biker style jeans I got from Hush last year). I live in a small town though and my local department store had NO petite jeans in stock so I have to look online.

I've bought jeans from ASOS and Boden, GAP have petite jeans, as do Mint Velvet and M&S. I think a few stores offer petite clothes online (Coast!? Anthropologie!) that might surprise you so it's worth checking just to be sure, particularly for trousers.

I'm looking for a grandad-style cable knit grey cardigan - preferably one that's hip-length, although that's not essential. Any thoughts? I'm not fussed if it comes from the men's or women's sections, really!

Dinosaur lots of chunky knit and long cardigans in Next this season. River Island also had a lovely chunky knit cardigan when I was in the other day although it wasn't long, more hip length. I'll see if I can find link.

Stradivarius is the same parent company as Zara, Massimo Dutti, and Bershka. I bought a lot from there when I was a student in Spain!
