Well done Pest - that was a very close shave!

OneNight - more about the 4160 perfume making workshops here .

Sarah's suggestion is that we compress the day by working straight through from 11 to 3, meeting together in the nice cafe over the road for food afterwards, or before, or both. Suspect we'll all be coming from different directions? (4160 workshop is in Action, W London).

She's offered us the following deal (max 8 spaces):

I'll do you a special £60 session to make a 9ml purse size, with the option of upgrading to a 30ml for an extra £40 on the day.

(So total cost of workshop, including Sarah's expertise and materials, assuming you take away your own creation in a 30ml bottle = £100 per person).

Just shout if you need any more info.

Hello! I'm in MMM Untitled today. I popped in past MAC on my way to meet my friend earlier and tried the My Heroine shade-scent (the purple one). I loved it initially, and almost went back for it after we'd eaten, but it's now faded to "generic aftershave" so I'm glad I didn't. I think I might get the Velvet Teddy one (TF TV dupe) for winter though.

Dlpdep · 06/07/2017 21:55

Place marking really but I have to say, O de Lancôme is really growing on me!!!

myshinynewusername · 06/07/2017 22:00

I'm trying to find a perfume for myself.

I used to love DKNY woman, which always had a fresh, vodka-like scent, with lemony undertones, but my latest bottle just seems like lemon to me (almost like some sort of lemon scented cleaning product), so they've clearly changed it! Angry

I have a sample of Etat Libre d'Orange Bendelirious, which I tried today and loved (especially the champagne note), but not much longevity...

Any ideas? :)

Pestilentialone · 06/07/2017 22:22

myshiny i got the Mary Greenwell Lemon this week, only tried it once and it is lemony but also proper perfumey. You can get a purse spray nice and cheap , so not a waste of much money if it is not quite right.
Guerlain's Aqua Allegorias often have a lemon one but not this year I think. they seem to have lime, bergamot and mandarin.

I will check those out, thank you. :)

I am also interested in trying fruity perfumes (as long as not too sickly sweet) and anything with champagne notes.

Pestilentialone · 06/07/2017 22:34

Check out the search by notes function. Try Remarkable People by Etat Libre d`Orange.

Oh! And we'll all be wearing the Somerset House trousers from the last thread Grin.

MyShiny - lots of discussion here recently about these citrus aromatics: Eau du Sud, Jade, O de Lancome and Eau de Rochas. Haven't smelt Sisley's Eau de Campagne but that shares the tomato leaf note.

MrsCocoa · 06/07/2017 22:38

And for fruits try 4160 Tuesdays.

Dlpdep · 06/07/2017 23:22

There is a very distinctive sharp note in DKNY. I know jo Malone is universally hated here, and I have a particular hatred for this particular perfume, but try lime basil and mandarin.

Puppylucky · 07/07/2017 04:56

Have you tried the Aqua Citra P? I really wanted to try the relaunched Aqua Manda as that was one of the scents of my 70's childhood but the reviews were very disappointing - not helped by the manufacturer claiming that all the disappointed buyers were just too old to remember accurately what the 70's original smelt like!

Calminaqualm · 07/07/2017 06:39

myshiny, 4160Tuesdays has several lemon/citrus perfumes. There is Lemon Sherbet (lemon sherbet and vanilla), Sunshine and Pancakes (I haven't tried this one but there is great love for it on here), and Invisible Ben (citrus and woods). Some people have a problem with the longevity of Invisible Ben, but on me it comes and goes all day.

FloofyCat · 07/07/2017 07:24

I feel ridiculously proud that I have a perfume thread title almost named after me

Invisible Ben is lush - it's very very sparkly. I have hoover type skin but the longevity of 4160s on me is amazing.

My Violet Eyes arrived (I bet we all ordered from the same seller ) and I actually really like the scent but it seems to disappear in seconds. Although I do think I might be brewing a cold so it might be me. I want to wrap myself in a blanket and wear Shalimar but it seems wrong in July!

Looking forward to hearing about workshop and Somerset House exploits!

OhWhatFuckery I was a huge fan of Cosmetics to Go! I still like Lush not as much as my teenagers do but it's not the same Bring back the original Happy Hippy (and the Body Shop perfume bar with the teeny droppers) and I would be over the moon.

Mrsmartell08 · 07/07/2017 10:07

Love lush too. We still have happy hippy...fab stuff.
Just tried Dior addict.
Really lovely...might have to see if I can track some down...

Puppylucky · 07/07/2017 10:20

Dior Addict is so lovely I have to ration wearing it so I don't go nose blind

Auldspinster · 07/07/2017 10:30

Hello ladies. I am wearing Pamplelune today for mooching around the house.

Marks and Spencer's niche perfume range have lots of lemony scents. I love Turkish Lemon cologne which can be picked up for less than a fiver in Turkish or middle eastern supermarkets.

Calminaqualm · 07/07/2017 11:25

I picked up a bottle of a Mugler Womanity dupe from Paphos when I was on holiday there, from the Refan shop, called Refan 120, and I'm wearing it today. It's a marmite fragrance, all figgy fruit, wood and caviar. I know salt doesn't smell but it has a strong smell of salt nevertheless. I really love it and it's ideal if you want a bit of heft on a hot day! The real Womanity is Very Expensive and possibly being discontinued?

Dlpdep · 07/07/2017 18:08

Last of the holiday buys - got my bottle of cristalle and got a 20ml of Bonbon for DD. Fidji was there - I think I remember people talking about it here before, but I was single minded and avoided. I am currently floating around in my cristalle and a summer dress on the last day of my holidays!

OCSockOrphanage · 07/07/2017 19:43

SoTD has been Verveine d'Eugenie, Heely sample, which is a v pleasant (unremarkable) take on the neroli, bergamot, citrus vibe central to Eau d'Hadrien and its ilk and kin. Lovely in hot humid weather and polite in company, but not exciting. Does not last as long as the Annick Goutal, which has surprising longevity for a citrus eau. Congratulations on the new thread. I will lurk and post occasionally. Perfume is filling a bit less of my time; I think I have worked through the obsessive phase!

PerfumeIsAMessage · 08/07/2017 07:49

Hello! A quick place mark. We are moving from our training centre today and I am already hot and sweaty.
If you like Roma you need to revisit Obsession (vintage if possible) because she modelled Roma on it.

Mrsmartell08 · 08/07/2017 07:56

Ooooh obsession
Yes, i can see the similarities with Roma
No idea what sotd will be...its hot already and we are off to dhs aunts for her 80th
I'm in a vile temper and not in the mood really
Ah well
