Do you think Kate gets it "right" compare to other royals?

Needless to say its a DM link

Do you think Kate looks the most stylish? I think Sophie looks lovely, great colour and lovely hat. I think Kate has an advantage as she is very slim / toned but not sure if her dress is actually the nicest. I think she also gets all her stuff made to measure / altered so it fits her better.

Bea and Zara's have got very crushed which makes them look less polished. Autumn Phillips looks nice but can only just see her!

Eugenie's is a no from me! too frou frou.

I like this green dress on Beatrice and this red one on Eugenie. Both look look lovely.

diddl · 25/06/2017 21:27

That green is a lovely colour on her, isn't it?

This is another outfit that I like.

I don't think that Eugenie's dress is that bad, perhaps too casual for the hat?

It's a style that she seems to like.

BitOutOfPractice · 26/06/2017 14:51

I sometimes think that B & E's clothes don't seem to fit them very well. The links in the last few posts they look absolutely fab. At Ascot the clothes didn't seem to fit very well. Neither did Zara's. No idea why.

I agree, the queen looked absolutely fabulous and like she was really enjoying herself

buggerthebotox · 26/06/2017 17:00

I think B and E are both good looking. Sophie is too; although handsome rather than pretty.

KC looks simply dull, as always.

Apart from Her Maj, they all look dull as ditchwater.

They don't seem to have a sense of style, do they? No individuality.

Remember Sarah Chatto? Always so individual, and stylish.

And Diana could always pull it outta the bag, regardless of the occasion.

diddl · 26/06/2017 18:08

Sarah Chatto had a lovely wedding dress iirc-Lady Helen Windsor also.

SamanthaBrique · 26/06/2017 18:38

I sometimes think that B & E's clothes don't seem to fit them very well.

I think it's probably because they, like Zara, aren't sylphs. Kate is very slim so can wear pretty much anything without needing it adjusted. They on the other hand, seem to need more tailoring. Not sure why they don't have it done tbh, not like money's tight in the York household!

QueenoftheAndals · 26/06/2017 18:43

Sarah Chatto's wedding dress was lovely. So simple and elegant. Perhaps she inherited her mother's sense of style - Princess Margaret always looked very glamorous.

Diana was initially far more fashion-forward than Kate, which could be why a lot of her 80s outfits look quite dated. After her divorce she adopted a more classic style which wouldn't be out of place even today.

BitOutOfPractice · 26/06/2017 18:59

I disagree Samantha. No matter what size you are, your clothes should fit. And B & E are hardly large are they?

sodablackcurrant · 26/06/2017 19:38

Unless you are Kate skinny, I think a size up is the best bet.

Not hanging off you either, but a good fit without being stuck to you.

I think a lot of them try to fit a size smaller. But that's just me. I buy for comfortable fit. Never liked to be sqeezed into anything. I am not Kate's size BTW, but I know what I am comfortable in.

Theycalledmethewildrose · 26/06/2017 20:03

I think that B&E sometimes choose the wrong dresses (and hats). They often look awkward and older than their years. Sometimes, at least around where I live, boutiques tend to have formal wear that is more suitable for the mother of the bride. I wonder if this is partly the issue although goodness knows the world is at their disposal so it shouldn't be the case. I'd like to see a photograph of them introusers and casual clothes. I think we'd learn a lot more about their personal style from their casual wear.

YouDoSomethingToMe · 27/06/2017 07:26

Considering Kate has loads of help and a bottomless pit of money I don't think she looks that great at all. Princess Mary of Denmark outshines Kate any day.

CoverYourEarsTeam · 27/06/2017 07:43

I loved Bea's white dress and that hat/fascinator ... I want. Also loved Eugenie in the red, such a good colour for her.
One thing I think the York girls always do well is shoes - their shoes are often interesting and different (even if their frocks could sometimes do with a little more tailoring). The shoes are certainly better than Kate's nude heels and endless wedges and espadrilles. Boring.

buggerthebotox · 27/06/2017 08:31

Yes, boring. I wonder sometimes if she's deliberately made to wear boring clothes in an attempt to keep her looking "demure" and unthreatening.

I don't think I've ever seen her in anything other than stuffy, dull clothes.

Nettletheelf · 27/06/2017 10:40

Agreed, princess Mary dresses way more stylishly and youthfully than Kate, and she's ten years Kate's senior! I wouldn't mind Mary's wardrobe, although I do fewer state visits.

The queen of Spain (Letizia) dresses better than Kate too.

SamanthaBrique · 27/06/2017 11:26

The queen of Jordan always looks amazing too. And is a good example of how to dress fairly conservatively (religious restrictions in her case) and still look incredibly chic.

BitOutOfPractice · 27/06/2017 12:44

I LOVED all of the outfits in that link about Queen Rania. As you say, classy and appropriate for her position but with an edge and quirkiness that I have never seen with Kate.

Niminy · 27/06/2017 12:45

As far as I can remember Kate has always dressed conservatively. I can remember a picture of her looking like something out of the House of Bruar catalogue. I suspect basically she isn't really into fashion and being a clothes horse. She does it because it's her job. No wonder she waited a long time before she agreed to marry William, it's an intense spotlight to put yourself under.

BuzzKillington · 27/06/2017 12:46

Wow, Rania looks fab - really stylish.

BitOutOfPractice · 27/06/2017 13:23

Don't get me wrong, I don't think Kate ever gets it wrong as such. Just that she never makes me think "wow". She always look immaculately groomed and she has such a fabulous smile and seems really warm. I like her a lot. Just wish she'd take done fashion risks -purely for our fashion enjoyment of courseGrin

Theycalledmethewildrose · 27/06/2017 14:22

I somehow doubt Kate was the one who instigated waiting to get married!

Niminy · 27/06/2017 15:43

Didn't they break up for quite a while? I have a fuzzy memory that it was at her instigation.

Theycalledmethewildrose · 27/06/2017 15:56

Yes they broke up but it was William who decided. Kate later said in her engagement interview that it was for the best although she didn't think so at the time.

Niminy · 27/06/2017 16:07

Ah, I stand corrected!

SamanthaBrique · 27/06/2017 16:08

Gotta hand it to her for her sustained campaign of showing him what a good time she was having without him - he came running back eventually!

Lexilooo · 27/06/2017 17:29

Anne looks lovely in that orange dress. She still has a lovely figure.

I also wondered whether Zara might be pregnant again. But she competed three horses over the weekend so maybe not.

Agree that B&E are treated terribly in the press. I do wonder if the reactions they get when they wear anything remotely daring might be part of the reason Kate dresses so boringly.
