Oh you lot. Grin. maid they'll be lucky to get a few wilted sandwiches and a shop bought battenburg. MrsK Love I am dusting off my sheitl as we speak. And I'll be sure to wear my thickest tan coloured tights especially in this heatwave. NOT. HAPPENING. DS knows that my interest in being a MIL not great. Weirdly, me and the GF share the same first name, which some of you will know is quite an uncommon one. I find this a little strange.

Has he done the formal gf introducing thing before over tea Rose? Do you think the have "news" to impart?? Or am I getting over excited...

He he. It's a weird sitch. There a wider family event next week which I can't go to and DS is thinking of taking her along. He didn't want DM, DSis etc etc, to meet her before me. So we set this up. I don't think the have news as such.

MrsK you're more Jewish than me. I'm renaming you Yente the matchmaker. Yes. she is. She's also very pretty and slim, so it'll be fat Rose/thin Rose.

We have that old/young/big/little thing in my sort of extended family where we have not enough names to go round.

Just had very nice dinner with very happy dd and bf and saw fireworks over the Thames on the way back. They were fantastic but the first one made everyone jump and then look around guiltily to see who had noticed.

bigTillyMint · 17/06/2017 08:05

Yes same in our family - cousins DS named his DD same as ours. I chose it from the name of a great scottish aunt thinking it would be a bit unusual. It turned out to be one of the most popular girls names!

Lalsy, dinner with added fireworks sounds perfect.

Morning all

Had nice evening last night at a new opera place that's opened up. It's the place that Bamber Gascoigne inherited from a distant aunt. They've spent the last 12 months building this opera house thingy in the garden.

It's a bit like Glyndebourne closer to London. Saw a mixture of modern ballet and a bit of opera sung by Sir Bryn. We were invited by friends. Lovely evening for it, but just cannot get my head round how these things work in the pouring rain.

Anyways, I'm off dancing (you know, I have to work at my BP...) and then to man our village shop while our local fair takes place. I am still well hacked off about being coerced into doing it.
Despite your advice, I discovered that I had no one to complain to as the manager had already gone on holiday. I've had to suck it up.

I'm going to take my lunch in and grab an unsold paper and make myself comfortable for a few hours. There won't be anyone to serve.

Not not not looking forward to Fathers Day tomorrow. Am off to visit DFs grave, which I have found so difficult to visit. DM goes nearly every day, and finds it so hard to understand why I don't feel the same way.

We heard the fireworks - what were they all about?

Dunno - wondered if Queen's birthday? It did seem to take everyone by surprise though we all enjoyed the excellent view once we realised what it was.

We peered out of the window but couldn't see anything.

Sandals with socks I believe is very Alexa Chung. I shan't be doing it, due to cankles. Any further attention to that area is not welcome.

Re fireworks, I saw some on the telly last night as part of the Jo Cox big Get Together thingo. Could it be that?

Trying to organise DS's birthday. He'll be going with his BFF to Kidzania, but also want to give him a little party and an emergency-services-related treat. So far I've found the City of London Police Museum, and the Fire Museum in Lambeth. Could be followed by small gathering in Pizza Express, or similar hassle-free location, with cake with siren on. Perhaps.
