Oh, and the dress I was lusting after in Toast arrived yesterday. I will never learn. It looked awful on me.
It was back at the PO within hours of it arriving.

hattymattie · 07/07/2017 07:49

Airbone - you are up early. Sorry the dress didn't work - you are so like me with this - anticipation and then inevitable disappointment. I actually think I just love getting parcels!

Have a fantastic meet up this evening. I am going on the fruitless quest of finding DH a birthday present (probs a Lacoste T shirt as usual).

motherinferior · 07/07/2017 08:57

I am trying to practise frantically before going out to do an interview. Concert tomorrow. To add to everything else the music is in LATVIAN

Heavens MI, that is challenging. Dd had a singing exam once that involved four languages, and I thought wow!( am lucky if she grunts one language at me at the moment)

Does Latvian sound a bit Scandi, or is it Germanic in nature.Hmm

Bugger re the dress Airborne. I do this regularly as in my head I am 5'10 and not 5' nothing. Also I like getting packages . I ordered the most gorgeous Rose from David Austin and it bloody arrived like someone had sat on it with all the tender stems and buds knocked off and bent, despite excellent and appropriate packaging. I do suspect carelessness on the delivery co.'s part. Have contacted customer services but there is a long wait I am told. Boo.

If anyone fancies an hour in an air conditioned cinema, I recommend Kedi, which is an indie Turkish film about the Cats of Istanbul. Magical., for those of a cat-liking disposition obviously.

We are also singing in Latin and English.Confused

herbaceous · 07/07/2017 13:18

I am very bad and never do any choir practice, and rely on my sight reading.

We have a concert on Saturday, but it follows hot in the heels of DS's birthday picnic. I suspect I'll be more inclined to loll in the garden drinking fizz than dinning black and singing an arrangement of Widdicombe Fair.

OP posts:
motherinferior · 07/07/2017 13:40

We have a 13-part complex arrangement which is one to a voice too...in Latin. And I have to do the three finishing bars.

And the Latvian is unaccompanied and lots of going up a semitone...

herbaceous · 07/07/2017 15:12

One part to a voice! Gulp. I think in that sitch I'd be madly learning it too... I always have safety in numbers.

This is a bit like standing there in your pants.

motherinferior · 07/07/2017 16:33

On the other hand I quite enjoy the opportunity to show off Blush

herbaceous · 07/07/2017 18:36

I would like the opportunity to show off. Having 30 other people singing the same part doesn't make one feel special. I think that's why I like my basooning so much - my marvellousness can be appreciated.

motherinferior · 07/07/2017 21:45

Our second alto section comprises three (3, iii) people. Showing off is readily available and so is Naked Shame.

IDismyname · 08/07/2017 07:29

I hope David Austin Roses have sorted you out. Those plants are £££

I've had a really disappointing run with all sorts of couriers recently. Collect+ and Hermes should get a special mention for their appalling delivery service and customer care.

I've gone back to Royal Mail Second Class signed for, for all my returns.

I am trying to pretend that I don't feel AT ALL hungover, and that I am merely VERY TIRED this morning.

IDismyname · 08/07/2017 07:30

MI I am sooooo impressed that you're singing in Latvian. I hadn't realised at our MU last night. Hope it goes well.

Auriga · 08/07/2017 08:12

Thanks for invitation MI. Sorry won't be able to make it as DD has her last (gulp) concert with Chamber Orchestra before tour. Hope it goes well.

MsMartini · 08/07/2017 08:53

Yeah me too, Airborne. Two (2,ii) gym classes (albeit short) will reveal the truth. Nearly typed gin classes. I did get up at 6.30 to wave ds off on his last camp.

Auriga, enjoy. And MI, it sounds terrifying.

IDismyname · 08/07/2017 09:00

MrsK and I will be first in line for the gin courses!

I'm on my second cup of tea, and have to go to my dance class later. I left my car at the station last night, so dance friend is dropping me off en route to pick it up.

I suppose I could just go AWOL.

I do indeed have a bag of the Picard onions in my freezer. I do like the look of their stuff. Once Ocado had stopped showing me tins of Pilchards Grin

motherinferior · 08/07/2017 09:01

I am now going to practise more singing! The problem is that I'm not sure everyone else is doing the same...

MrsKlugscheisser · 08/07/2017 12:24

I am still in bed and feeling shit. I feel like I am wasting the day.

MsMartini · 08/07/2017 13:07

[Klaxon for dullest post ever] but I know a lot of us have university-aged teens or ones heading that way.and this is useful I think (along with Martin MSE) www.bbc.co.uk/news/education-40511184

< CHUB-RUB KLAXON >

Just bought some Marilyn Monroe 'slip shorts' from TK Maxx. £7.99 for two: RRP $33. Wearing a pair now and they are light weight, comfy and hold the tummy in just a smidgen.

OP posts:
Cremolafoam · 08/07/2017 15:15

Sorry you are poorly Mrs K, that's miserable, but looking after yourself is never a day wasted.
Suggest, long bath with appropriate essential oil.

Omg to chub rub. We FINALLY have a terrific day weather-wise , and I have on the Plumo skirt ( with plain white T and red clogs) and am noticing I am flubby of inner thigh. Will have to get me to a TKMaxx then. Pah

Of course, to add grist to my mill, Dh has chosen to take out all his power tools to erect a side gate. The noise is dreadful. So much for lolling in a deck chair.
Angry

Crem - is your husband mine? Just the sort of thing mine would do. We are actually inside with the shutters closed on one side of the house to maintain coolness.

Am all packed for the mountains - hoping for a bit of hiking - may meet MM Wink.

Airborne - Picard is the French freezer chain - all my freezer stuff is from there - I use it to have a store of stuff that I can assemble meals from (and for ice cream).

Cremolafoam · 08/07/2017 19:48

Hatty, bonne voyage for The mountains. I genuinely hope that your MIl doesn't drive you nutty and you get out into the quiet forests.
My Dh has caused me to be in a terrible fury of a mood all day. I am passive aggressively watching telly and painting my toenails , while he tidies his wretched tools. Harrumph.
