Just tried this kaftan on from my Wrap order and am really delighted with it...I realise it's marketed as a beach cover up but I will wear it as a top. Knitted linen is definitely my new S&B love. --although the pattern at the the hem does make it look a smidgen like a prayer shawl...Crem and MrsK will get that.... Grin Grin Grin. Am a bit fed up the t shirts are on back order though... Hmm

msmargarita · 02/07/2017 15:19

Hello Hattie

lovely to have you back and great pic of your DD at graduation - v like you I thought.

we are demolishing DH's workshop - literally taking it apart down to the ground for him to rebuild in a better way. so odd dismantling his workspace of over 20 years. DS and I acting as hod carriers until DS goes off on Tuesday. blooming hard work, glad I"m back in office tomorrow.

and absolutely no S&B about it - I'm in a pair of old Topshop jeans that have that hideously uncomfortable low cut waist that cuts across the middle aged middle. will be worth it in the end though. And in less than two weeks we are off on the Crem tour of northern Spain.

IDismyname · 02/07/2017 16:21

Rosen - you are very norty (sic). You are costing me a lot of money atm Grin
Most of it will probably go back!

Have just realised I pay a small fortune for Amaz*n Prime, so am listening to the music at full pelt. Need to make more use of it.

DS still alive and having lots of fun in The Alps. Keep getting happy texts and the odd (non scary) picture.

Had a domestic day in that I made jam this morning, and have sorted out most of the tulip bulbs from DMs garden. She is such a spendaholic on her garden and chucks out all her tulip bulbs every year Shock

So I take them and whack them into a bed in the veg patch. I had a tulip equivalent of Sarah Raven crossed with a car crash of a Dutch tulip field. I'm looking at double the fun next Spring.

FlipflopsOrWellieboots · 02/07/2017 16:26

Amazon Music is the dogs bollo##s. I love it, playlists, really old stuff..... yesterday was Clifford T Ward 😀

hattymattie · 02/07/2017 19:15

Rose - my friend has just gone to Justin Beiber with her youngest daughter. Obviously it's the event of this weekend. DD1 is now at my friend's whilst she searches for accommodation in London - the Brixton flat fell through unfortuately. She got offered another super flat but it was for a couple and her boyfriend is saving cash by living at home till he's earning.

Mrs Martini - DD2 is doing OK thanks for asking she got a 2.2 but this year doesn't count and she's getting rid of the subjects that dragged her down. Also she seems much happier and is moving into her student house in a couple of weeks so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. She's had to learn a huge list of cocktails for her pub job.

Airborne - we are off to the Alps next weekend I'm hoping to get a it of hiking in, in between tolerating my MiL and living in an internet free house.

Have had the most splendid weekend. Open air Macbeth, dim sum and impromptu fire station visit yesterday; Polpo for lunch and then Matilda today.

Oh. My. God. Matilda is just so utterly fantastic. I smiled like a lunatic throughout, and cried in the finale out of just sheer emotion. I already want to go again. And DS has come out saying he wants to 'get into musical theatre'. So I'm googling summer schools. I was wondering about Rosenpant's organisation...

Now some leisurely planting in the garden in the evening sun. Mmmmm.

Rosenspants · 02/07/2017 20:46

Herbs there are two weeks of theatre summer scheme at said organisation. You don't have to be a member. DD is on the support team at the first week. Google the website and it's somewhere under "What's On"

Montypulciano · 02/07/2017 21:24

Just nipping on to say lovely to see you Hatty. Hope dd1 is well and is progressing to the job at D? Your outfit sounds wonderful. See you soon.

NoCureForLove · 02/07/2017 21:43

Evening All
Those of you who have been yo Lisbon - any recommendations for a good restaurant for a special meal - not "fancy" as in too formal but lovely food and lovely room etc. Ta in advance...

Cremolafoam · 02/07/2017 21:52

Hello Hatty, how nice to have you back, if only briefly before The Haute- Savoie blackout. It will be good to have some mountain air in the old lungs. I m similarly awaiting with bated breath , the Pyrenees in some weeks time.
MsM, I hope your own Spanish odyssey goes swimmingly. It looks very very hot there at the moment.

Herbs, what lovely , lovely weekend. That certainly sounds amazing.
I have been to prebook a puppy today. Met the daxie breeder and his 7dogs and 2 puppies. I decided on balance not to take one home shoved in my pocket and running away today. Head over heart. nearly killed me but will wait for the next litter and hope for a female. SO happy I have this to look forward to as Things here, unfortunately continue on a grey, relentless sort of churning.

MrsKlugscheisser · 02/07/2017 22:07

Oh Crem, I'm sorry things are no better, but A PUPPY!!!!! That's something nice to look forward to.

Here, we have had a furball (cat), a row about food (me and DH) and a row about washing (me and DD1).

MsMartini · 02/07/2017 22:25

Grey, relentless churning....Sad. Puppy time.

Hatty, that's good about dd2 - she sounds on the up.

Lovely weekend here too, very sociable and fun but dh not quite the thing (whenever he stops work he develops minor physical ailment, has happened again and not the sort of thing that can possibly be connected). dd has gone away again and ds barely home.

msmargarita · 02/07/2017 22:35

We have nervous DS and nervy DD with tired but resolute DH. It has been lovely having a fire for the last 4 nights. More (slow, enjoyable) drinking but no screens. Cat looking v nervous.

DS goes off first thing Tuesday and is staying night before with gf. Which is sensible as her mother is driving them to airport at silly o'clock. but still feels extremely odd.

Sorry about the Brixton flat, Hattie, but good to hear that DD2 is finding her feet.

Crem, so sorry about the churning - you do so well to keep going. Will you go for a daxie in the end but hold out for a female? I love them - they always look so alert and interested.

magimedi · 02/07/2017 23:10

Lovely to see you, Hatty. Will also be in Haute Savoie in a couple of weeks time & will wave to you.

Embrace lack of internet - it does have some benefits.

Tennis tomorrow - I just love it.

IDismyname · 02/07/2017 23:11

Oh Crem - a puppeeeeeeee!! How v v exciting. And as you say, something to look to. I grew up with Wired Haired Daxies, so love that breed to bits. What kind are you looking at?

NoCureForLove · 02/07/2017 23:12

Thanks BD!

IDismyname · 02/07/2017 23:13

Sorry Hattie didn't mean to ignore you....

If you see some teen racing past you off piste (so to speak) wearing a red and black jersey. Tell him to behave. Actually, I'm not sure if he's in the H Sav. Area.

bigTillyMint · 03/07/2017 06:56

Cremo, a puppy will be just the thing for you, as long as you don't have to bend down to it too much! And I had forgotten that you are also going Pyreneesing - when do you go? We are there 31st - 11th.

Fluffy, He was in HS - has he moved elsewhere? Love that region - enjoy Hatty and MM.

MsMargarita, I felt a bit calmer last night, but am now feeling sick again - will be much better once they have set off, surely?! I wish DD was staying at her friends tonight - I have to get up at silly o'clock to drop her there tomorrow morning.

MsMartini, DH often gets ill at the start of a hol. And always turns into a zombie which is highly frustrating.

Herbs, if you lived here, I would put you in touch with my fabulous music-friend who does all manner of fun and exciting musical stuff with kids locally. She is one of those one-off amazing teachers, like the Head of Music at DS's school. Sadly neither of mine are musicalGrin

IDismyname · 03/07/2017 07:11

BTM No, he's still in the same alpine town that hosts lots of summer biking.

Feeling v v sad. Came down this morning to find eldest DDog sprawled on the kitchen floor. He'd obviously been there for a while as he'd wet himself, and couldn't get up. I've been watching him this weekend, and realised that although his front legs work to turn him around, the back ones don't. He wasn't distressed at all.

I scooped him up and took him outside for him to get a better purchase on the gravel. Then gave him a wash in the utility sink. He's in his basket now.

I fear I have a horrible decision to make today.

Oh Airborne - so sad for DDog, poor thing. I know you' ll do the right thing. It's not a thing that the Supervet can fix is it? He seems to do the most amazing things - I often wonder why we can't transfer some of his skills to humans.

Mrs Martini - I reckon the immune system sort of relaxes at holiday time as well - this used to happen to my DDad.

Magimedi - I think you are higher up in the mountains than me - I'm in normal Savoie rather than Hautes - if you are anywhere near Moutiers we could have an Alpine meet up.

magimedi · 03/07/2017 07:52

So sorry to hear about your dog, Airborne, it's so tough doing the right thing for ones beloved pets.

Hatty - am indeed higher up than you - nearest town is Annecy.

MrsKlugscheisser · 03/07/2017 09:15

Sorry to hear about DDog, Airborne.

Think work is going to be a Trial today. Head of Dept seems incapable of grasping who does what in our department, so she sent a piece of work that should have come to me, to The Young Man on Friday. Instead of just forwarding it to me, and telling her, he started working on it, got bored and then sent it half done to me. The result of this is that I need to get the work done this morning, and there are, apparently, several email chains going, none of which I have been copied into. It's something that would have taken me 15 minutes had it been sent directly to me, but will now take several hours to resolve.

MsMartini · 03/07/2017 09:47

Oh Airborne, how tricky.

Good luck to all travellers - and their parents!
