How the hell do you shave your fanjo?!

Sorry to be so graphic but how on earth do people shave their privates?

Im 32 yrs old, have tried several times, but my pubes are so thick that it itches like crazy/bleeds gets so irratated and at times has been so uncomfortable I've not been able to go out.

Is there a knack I'm missing Confused? I've waxed a few times but mostly stick to using electric razors and shaving it really short. It's just way too thick

Sorry for tmi just curious as it's not something you really discuss amongst friends over lunch Grin

I don't. I wax. Or rather I pay the beautician to do it for me

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 11/06/2017 21:52

Shaving is SO last year dahling Wink

that's what I tell myself

putdownyourphone · 11/06/2017 21:53

Wax at salon. Shaving the fanj is not recommended

phoolani · 11/06/2017 21:55

I'm always amazed that some women do shave their privates. The itchy regrow is more than enough to put me off.

MissesBloom · 11/06/2017 21:57

All these young 'uns are always on about how they need to shave down there... I guess they must have wispy lush pubes Grin

I don't mind a wax but last time I asked for a Brazilian and the therapist made me go on all fours and done my bum Shock I have never been so embarrassed in my whole life.

Has anyone tried veet or similar? Don't reckon it'll work as the hair is thick but would like to try and save a cringy trip to the salon

I use Veet sensitive in shower hair removal, have done for years. Too scared to get it waxed as I have a sensitive and inflamed symphysis pubis joint. It isn't as smooth as waxing would be but it does. I have seen the new Femfresh products advertised for shaving but haven't got round to trying them yet.

Enidblyton1 · 11/06/2017 21:57

Ouch! Don't shave it with a razor.
If you want to remove hair, go to a salon and have it waxed.

Highalert · 11/06/2017 21:58

Why don't you just leave it alone then Confused

Surely it's not worth being so uncomfortable to have a bald fanjo.

Poppins2016 · 11/06/2017 22:02

I also recommend hair removal cream, it's painless (as long as you don't leave it on for too long) and easy!

Notagainmun · 11/06/2017 22:03

I shave every other day in the shower. I use conditioner instead of shaving gel. No itch or rash.

lem0n · 11/06/2017 22:09

Shave. Daily. Or every other day at least. Otherwise it is uncomfortable. I used to get terrible rashes from it so didn't do it very often, and actually, somehow, I think that may have been the problem. Now I do a quick go over every day in the shower and don't get any problems. Sometimes, if I'm feeling a bit sensitive, I'll shave in the direction of the hair growth which isn't as close so less likely to irritate. You could also try electric shaver; again, not as close but not at all irritating. Good luck!

phoolani · 11/06/2017 22:10

You can say no to having yer arse waxed, though..

MissesBloom · 11/06/2017 22:12

I've tried shaving with various different creams gels and soaps/conditioner too it just grows back in the most itchy uncomfortable way. It is gross. I end up walking around scratching it like it's diseased Sad

I don't want to leave it as it feels a bit unsanitary. It's not overly comfy either when I've got a full on bush. It's not to keep dh happy or anything.

Could go to salon just know I won't be arsed with the upkeep and don't want to get me bum out again Blush

LexieLulu · 11/06/2017 22:13

I tend to shave in the bath, as I get less rashes this way (same with my legs).

I've never actually cut myself downstairs, and I'm not particularly careful.

My legs on the other hand... I cut myself at least once a week!

MissesBloom · 11/06/2017 22:14

Also... The woman I went to last done it without gloves... Felt a bit weird about that... Is that normal to wax someone intimately with no gloves on?

OP posts:
therootoftheroot · 11/06/2017 22:14

I don't.
Pubic hair is there for a reason.

seoulsurvivor · 11/06/2017 22:22

I trim if I'm going to the beach/swimming. But generally I just leave it. The trend for getting rid of every single hair on our bodies is just too much for me. I already waste enough of my time on hair and make up.

MissesBloom · 11/06/2017 22:24

I've no time for a routine. It gets left until it's too long then I just go over it with the electric razor.

I would quite like to get it neat for occasions Wink not brave enough for home waxing though I've ripped my skin off trying it out before

I think im going to give the cream a go first

silkpyjamasallday · 11/06/2017 22:40

I shave occasionally but always leave a landing strip, DP told me he wasn't bothered so now nor am I after years of partners being disgusted by even a hint of pubic topiary, so I don't bother much anymore tbh. But it's never been uncomfortable or itchy, but I do have very sparse pubic hair so that might be a factor, I'm pretty gung-ho with doing it, don't bother shaving in the direction of growth or use shaving foam or anything, I imagine it's different for everybody. If it's uncomfortable for you just don't do it!

DumbledoresArmy · 11/06/2017 22:44

Shave everyday. Have done for years.
I've gotta smooth dolphin 🐬

Crochita · 11/06/2017 22:46

I shave using talc, always smooth, no itching or spots. Wouldn't go back to a wax now.

JaneBanks · 11/06/2017 22:50

Philips Lumea is pricey but it's so nice not having any regrowth and not having to worry about shaving, I can highly recommend! I'm now 9 months pregnant and haven't used it throughout, hair has barely grown back and what has grown back is wispy and manageable!

MissesBloom · 11/06/2017 22:55

Wow talc.. Never heard of that. Might be worth a try.

Im just such a gorilla. Proper hairy Mary.

Dumbledore don't you get ingrown hairs shaving every day? Am now imagining a dolphin fanny Grin mine would definitely be more of an otters pocket pmsl

Not bothered about dh... He can like it or lump it! Just prefer to have less of a bush but don't want to be walking to school digging at my crotch.

OP posts:
Zoflorabore · 11/06/2017 22:57

Use a strimmer Grin

MissesBloom · 11/06/2017 22:59

It would need to be industrial for mine at the moment Zoflora!

Have read about these lumea things JaneBanks what does it feel like? Might be a worthy investment. Don't know anyone who has one so never managed to find our how good they are
