Sorry to be so graphic but how on earth do people shave their privates?

Im 32 yrs old, have tried several times, but my pubes are so thick that it itches like crazy/bleeds gets so irratated and at times has been so uncomfortable I've not been able to go out.

Is there a knack I'm missing Confused? I've waxed a few times but mostly stick to using electric razors and shaving it really short. It's just way too thick

Sorry for tmi just curious as it's not something you really discuss amongst friends over lunch Grin

The Nono is painless and leaves no rash! It is a heat removal system, and deters future growth as well.

WhatToDoAboutThis2017 · 12/06/2017 11:38

I'm a nasty hurtful cow.

And you need to address what's happening in your life to make you that way. I wish you the best of luck.

Radishal · 12/06/2017 11:39
Hmm
WhatToDoAboutThis2017 · 12/06/2017 11:45

You don't think you need to address it? Well, okay then, but it's really not normal to have so much pent up anger and aggression that you slag people off who hold differing views to you.

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 12/06/2017 11:45

LorLorr, perhaps if women would just shut up about other women's pubic hair then you wouldn't need to be defensive. As What has said, none of the hairfree women here have made a single derisory comment but we've been subjected to insulting and quite frankly disgusting comments related to paedophilia.

You're arguing with the wrong people because hairfree women are not oppressing you. Perhaps have a think about who is doing that.

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 12/06/2017 11:46

Absolutely what WhatToDo said.

ThatItBe · 12/06/2017 11:47

MissesBloom I have/had thick pubic hair. I had it all waxed off a few times and then invested in an IPL thing- Remington, on special in Boots. You need to shave and then leave for two three days so there's short stubble and then you zap away. It is painful I can't tell a lie, however if you cool the area immediately before a zap and then again afterwards it really helps. I use a jar of mayo from the fridge and press that against the skin to cool it Grin. It has worked very well on the outer hair but the stuff towards the vulva and top of hood is tough and is resisting being repeatedly fried. Hth.

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 12/06/2017 11:48

... and LorLorr, I didn't even know that 'we' were 'in fashion'. I'll be hairfree always because I prefer it. Perhaps have a think about why you need to be a follower? Just do what you want and celebrate it, or don't, but just do what you want. :)

LorLorr2 · 12/06/2017 11:56

Aw Radishal, I don't think anyone on here is a cow, we just all feel strongly about our perspectives maybe haha! X

WhatToDoAboutThis and Lying, lol this is only one thread on one forum and not reflective of what's happening everywhere else. There's clearly something up if bush-bearers (haha) are automatically feisty and feel that views need to be balanced out. I don't feel oppressed, I feel pressured because of what I've grown up with, although am getting better at standing by my own preferences

Lying your posts throughout suggest you are the one with pent up aggression.

ThatItBe · 12/06/2017 11:57

On the on/off debate-
I relate The trials of shaving to men shaving their faces. It's the fashion atm to have beards but for many men they shave every day. They get the rashes, the ingrown hairs and the sore skin.
My current BF asked me if I would consider trying complete pube removal and I did as I was curious as to how it would feel. It was great!
My BF shaves bits of his pubes and I prefer it that way.
I have now moved onto having a bit of a tuft on the mons as this creates a little buffer during sex, is more comfortable, gives him something to grab if the mood strikes and we think it's more attractive.
I am extremely ant-porn and have fully considered my reasons for removing pubes.

LorLorr2 · 12/06/2017 12:02

Sorry i shouldn't have said the last bit, clearly haven't had a Snickers recently enough

poppym12 · 12/06/2017 12:50

I don't care what anyone else does to their fanny. I would however like to ask a question about things I've noticed over my years of styling and non styling. If you shave the undercarriage, do you feel damp and sweaty - or was that just me when I've tried it? Fwiw, I epilate the bits that show outside a bikini (my upper thighs are the hairiest part of my body.....lucky me Hmm). I spend a fair bit of time in a swimsuit and feel better not having the thighbrows out.
However, I bought a lumea compact a while ago but it doesn't work on my skin/hair colour as it's too similar. I'm thinking of trying it on the undercarriage as the hair there is darker so it might work. I'm not epilating flappy areas so will have to shave before ipl. How do shavers stay feeling fresh? Have I done it incorrectly in the past?

PollyPerky · 12/06/2017 12:58

I just cannot see the point in shaving. Ever. At all.

Why?

If you feel it's dirty I don't understand that either.

I'd like to know exactly when it became the fashion to shave it off.
People refer to 1970 bushes but I had grown a bush long before the 70s and no one removed them then. In fact even when I gave birth in the late 1980s, it didn't feature in people's conversation .

It is a relatively recent fashion and the sooner it dies a death the better.

Radishal · 12/06/2017 13:02

Careful, poppy. That's the most stupid question evah! Apparently.

poppym12 · 12/06/2017 13:07

No offence intended at all. As I said, each to their own with what they do to their bodies. Maybe I should have asked my question elsewhere.

Farmerswifeupnorth81 · 12/06/2017 13:08

Poppy why would it be better of having a shaved fanny dies a death ??? I much prefer no hair at all and it's not because I'm trying to be fashionable . I do it purely for myself because I much prefer it all shaved off . I feel much sexier and prefer the way my underwear feels etc etc I don't see why people have such a problem with me having no hair. I don't care if u have a huge bush so why do u cate that I'm bald down there ???

seoulsurvivor · 12/06/2017 13:10

lying No I won't 'own' you putting words in my mouth ffs. If you feel the need to justify your hair removal choices to randoms on the internet quite so fervently, perhaps you're not as cool with it as you think you are.

poppym12 · 12/06/2017 13:19

I think you've quoted the wrong person in your post farmerswife. I really don't give a shiny shite what others choose to do to their body.

sonlypuppyfat · 12/06/2017 13:26

I think that those of us who leave our hair to its own devices find removing it just plain wierd

lying If you re-read my post, I didn't say anyone was 'thick' for removing their hair. I said they were thick if they thought it was cleaner. Because it is empirically not. It is, in fact, dirtier, as evidenced by all the people talking about ingrown hairs etc.

I've posted on the thread that I think it's cleaner (for me). I'm not putting words in your mouth, I'm repeating your words back to you which are in black and white here.

I don't have to be 'cool with it', I don't have to be anything with it. It's my choice what I do to my body and everybody else has that some choice with theirs. I've never said differently; it's you and other posters spouting off trying to get people to see it 'their way'. I really don't care what you do with your own body, I've never said a word about any non-removing posters choices, not a one. But then it never is the non-removing women who try to impose their views on others about this.
LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 12/06/2017 14:46

sonlypuppyfat, so if those of us who do remove hair felt the need to say that those who don't 'were weird' for not doing it, how would you feel about that?

How about you and everybody else who's doing it, stop judging other women's pubic hair status?

Honestly, it's not men who are trying to control women, it's WOMEN. Evidenced on so many threads... portion size, parenting and even the most personal of things, this. It's utterly pathetic.

Bodicea · 12/06/2017 15:35

Shave in a downward motion (with the hair) with conditioner. Don't get quite as close a shave as if you shave upwards but get much less irritation.

MotherPie · 12/06/2017 16:02

BillDaviesDaughter, yes sudocreme really works (or own brand version). Discovered it in desperation and have always done it since Grin

MissesBloom · 12/06/2017 16:22

Oh my god what did I start Grin

Thanks for all the ideas everyone. I am not feeling pressured into shaving by my husband or society or anything else. I simply feel nicer and dare I say it, cleaner when I have less hair there. Sorry if its offended anyone who likes a bush. I don't hate them or think they are disgusting but as someone said up thread I don't like it when I have my period and the blood sticks to the hair. Doesn't feel clean at all.

Anyway I'll leave it here but enjoy your pubic preferences whatever they are... No judgement here Grin

Going to try the lumea I think. This thread has been very helpful thanks to all x

It's like any vanity thing we do to our bodies...

Why do women dye their hair? (on head Grin)

Why do women shave their legs?

Why do women shave under their arms?

Why do women paint their nails?

Why do women wear makeup?

It's all personal preference and perfectly okay either way because it's about choice. Just because women didn't remove their pubic hair 50 years doesn't mean it's "not normal." Women didn't wear make up as much or dye their hair as much 50 years ago wear as nowadays it's more the norm to do so. Doesn't make it wrong, it just means times have moved on!
