How the hell do you shave your fanjo?!

Sorry to be so graphic but how on earth do people shave their privates?

Im 32 yrs old, have tried several times, but my pubes are so thick that it itches like crazy/bleeds gets so irratated and at times has been so uncomfortable I've not been able to go out.

Is there a knack I'm missing Confused? I've waxed a few times but mostly stick to using electric razors and shaving it really short. It's just way too thick

Sorry for tmi just curious as it's not something you really discuss amongst friends over lunch Grin

I'm of the generation where it's weird to have a bush but I've given up on shaving, it literally pisses me off! My hair's so dark & coarse that it doesn't work well in the first place as I'm left with dark prickles straight away, then oh God the itching and red spots afterwards.
I've attempted it so many times over the years and have resigned to using my electric trimmer to just trim it down. Still haven't worked out the best way to do the underneath parts.

seoulsurvivor · 12/06/2017 00:59

lor it's weird to have a bush? That is so depressing to me. When I was in university, only 15 years ago, it was weird NOT to have a bush.

Always new ways to make women spend their money and feel shit about themselves.

avamiah · 12/06/2017 01:11

LorLorr2,
Yes I have to agree with you as I used to go to the salon for a wax but let's be honest it's bloody painful and holding my leg and pulling it over my head is getting a bit boring to be honest as I'm not that flexible anymore. Haha
The other alternative was to bend over on my knees.😬,I don't think so and this was in the beauty spa in a very famous "shop" in London.
😉

avamiah · 12/06/2017 01:21

seoul,
It depends what you call a "bush" let's be honest .

seoulsurvivor · 12/06/2017 01:27

Why? There's no reason why hair is more or less attractive there, it's all just perception. Obviously that's part and parcel of being human, but when women are itchy and uncomfortable because they have shaved, there's obviously an issue.

There might have been a bit of tidying up in the early 2000s but going bald was considered only for porn actresses.

LorLorr2 · 12/06/2017 01:32

seoulsurvivor Oh I soo envy you, at the moment if you're young and you do have one it's like making a statement Grin apparently they might actually be coming back into fashion, but in my teens (and I'm sure still for teens now) the pressure was there, if the topic came up girls would roll their eyes and toss their hair (HEAD hair lol) scoffing- actual quote "bleugh, nobody wants a dirty fanny". I would nod but inside I was crushed hahaha

avamiah Oh my! I think that's partly why I've never tried a wax Wink i wonder if sometimes they request certain odd positions just so they can have a giggle..

seoulsurvivor · 12/06/2017 01:39

I'm not young. I'm not making a statement. I just don't want to go through the hassle of shaving every day.

I have never met any women who say 'nobody wants a dirty fanny' in regards to having pubic hair. Little girls, maybe, or the kind of insecure women who pander to everything men want, but I don't tend to hang around such people.

People can do what they want to their hair, but if they seriously think it's dirty to have hair there, they are obviously a bit thick. It's actually far cleaner to have hair, because shaving and waxing can lead to infections.

LorLorr2 · 12/06/2017 01:53

Sorry I meant I envy you because you didn't have to bother in those years, but now at that age range we do Confused Yeah the people who made remarks like that were teenagers as you can tell, but it always stuck with me because I was so insecure that I A)couldn't master the art of pube removal and B)didn't have any desire at all to do so in the first place so didn't understand.
At least growing up makes you more self assured and less caring of what anyone thinks of your choice even if you're not in the majority, but thanks to porn & pop culture I can see the issue continuing until someone makes it 'trendy' again (which is as silly as it sounds)

seoulsurvivor · 12/06/2017 02:00

Yeah, I know what you mean. But I have always been stubborn and not one to be pressured into doing stuff I don't want to. It's shit that women are being forced into this stuff.

Then again, I see so many younger women these days out and about in jeans and trainers - when I was young, it was all heels and short skirts, so maybe stuff just goes in cycles.

avamiah · 12/06/2017 02:07

seoul,
I wear heels but not short skirts maybe a skirt just above the knee.

LorLorr2 · 12/06/2017 02:13

I so agree, and wish I'd been more stubborn and defiant sooner.

That's a good point! I suppose things balance out because one aspect of beauty might relax while another demands your attention/energy

seoulsurvivor · 12/06/2017 02:15

lor yes, until you hit 40 and no longer give a shit and then everyone calls you a rotten old hag, but you don't care anyway.

WhatToDoAboutThis2017 · 12/06/2017 02:26

I've shaved my vagina since I was about 17 and I'm late twenties now.

It's not a chore; I do it every two days when I have a shower. Quick run over with the razor and done. Keep on top of it and it's no problem at all.

I've never had itchy regrowth, ingrown hairs, it's never bled or hurt or anything.

When we can afford it, I'll get it all lasered off, but for now this works well Smile

seoulsurvivor · 12/06/2017 02:34

I hope you don't shave your vagina! (That is the inside part, always freaks me out when people say this, imagining hairy innards.)

For you it's not a chore, but for many women it is, on top of the 100 other things we have to do every day.

WhatToDoAboutThis2017 · 12/06/2017 02:52

seoulsurvivor It's the early hours of the morning; I think it's pretty obvious what I meant Wink

Good job I wasn't talking about anyone else but me then, isn't it?

Nakedavenger74 · 12/06/2017 03:37

I use of these bad boys. Normal razor for legs and pits at one end then at the other has a little battery operated trimmer for fanjos. Has a guard so you can trim to different lengths. Bloody amazing. Can use in the shower

I'm in Aus and NZ and it's made by Schick but I'm pretty sure that's the Aussie name for Gillette?

Cost me $20 (£10) and it's worth every last penny.

How the hell do you shave your fanjo?!
Nakedavenger74 · 12/06/2017 03:40

Ooh. Wilkinson Sword Quattro Bikini Trimmer in UK.

NotJanine · 12/06/2017 07:25

I'm using a laser device. Been doing weekly sessions for 5 weeks (it recommends up to 12 weeks) and already noticed a massive difference.

I'm just doing edges of bikini line and for the first time it is smooth with no lumps or redness or ingrown hairs ( from waxing/shaving). Just wish I'd done it sooner. It's not really that expensive (I got the cheapest version) when you think how much you can spend on razors, creams and waxing over the years.

There is only a very slight feeling when using it. It isn't painful at all

raindropstea · 12/06/2017 08:34

For those saying shaving isn't recommended and saying to wax instead, where are you getting this advice!? This is incorrect. Waxing isn't "recommended" either, especially if you do it bare. Maybe that's what you prefer, but to say shaving isn't recommended and waxing is is just incorrect. My doctor told me that if you shave down there you should use a new razor each time to be hygienic - so disposable razors. But who has the money laying around for that?? I shave and replace my razor often but not after each time. I also don't shave down there every day. Way too irritating for my sensitive skin.

And there's something not right in my mind about putting a laser right up to my fanjo. 😣 They don't fully know the effects of lasers on the skin yet.

raindropstea · 12/06/2017 08:35

NotJanine, what laser device are you using? I might try it, but only on my bikini line and I want to get an at home one.

JeNeSuisPasVotreMiel · 12/06/2017 08:49

WhatToDoAboutThis2017 I sincerely hope that you have NEVER shaved your vagina.
Your pubis and possibly your labia yes, but no one needs to put a razor inside their fanjo.

seoulsurvivor · 12/06/2017 08:53

jenesuis she already answered that charge, leave the poor woman and her mercifully hairless vagina alone Wink

claraschu · 12/06/2017 09:21

Why do women cater to this fashion for looking like prepubescent girls? I think it is horrible that people feel the need to suffer discomfort and pain in order to do something so unnatural. I also think that there is something very ugly about finding the trend towards finding natural grown woman's body weird and unattractive.

NotJanine · 12/06/2017 09:21

raindrops - I have a Braun IPL. I got it when it was on offer on Amazon

I am pale skinned with dark body hair so the ideal candidate for this, I know that if you aren't then it may not work or may damage your skin. My lower legs are starting to get a bit tanned so will wait till the Winter to finish them off.

I'm not using it undeneath at all, just tops of legs and in a bit, i.e. whatever would be exposed by a pair of high legged knickers.

raindropstea · 12/06/2017 09:24

Thanks for the reply, NotJanine :)

I'm also pale skinned with very dark hair/brunette.

I really need something for my inner thighs. I shave and when I shave this area, I get HORRIBLE ingrowns and irritation. It's beyond annoying. Does anyone else have this issue? I have tried shaving in the direction of the hair instead of against it which is supposed to help prevent the ingrowns, but with that you don't really get a close shave... but I still get ingrowns and irritation. I think I need to invest in a laser or epilator soon.
