Dh wants to buy me a gift and I'm not sure what I want . I quite like the mulberry Freya . I have an Antony already and I like it . I fancy something a bit more handbaggy.

For clarification ( again ) although it's not really relevant. I cannot go on city breaks because my son has sn and I can't leave him with anyone . We have family holdings so don't worry the children are very well looked after . That mulberry looks nice but I think I need it a bit bigger . I'm going out at some point to touch them all 😁😁😁

I love the Chloe Marcie or mini Marcie (30% off some styles in Selfridges).

Also like the classic Bayswaters. Have you looked at the new zipped bayswaters?

Enjoy your bag :)

JohnCheese · 25/12/2016 22:21

Really like that Coach bag CointreaV linked. Great price.

I always say I'm not really a designer bag person, and then I read threads and see some lovely bags. Gucci bamboo is lovely.

I second Blingy, some of these bags are v heavy, worth trying on first.

Enjoy the choosing and the wearing OP.

I'd steer clear of the Neverfall for both the pickpocketing issue and the fact that every other person seems to have one, mostly fakes.

I have the Totally which I absolutely love. Would recommend that or a Bayswater.

My (lucky) friend has a mulberry Freya in oxblood and it's BEAUTIFUL. Great shape, size and the colour is perfect.

CaitAgusMadra · 26/12/2016 07:22

I have a Coach Scout Hobo in tan (same bag as CV) and the Oxblood is currently winging its way to me.

Love it & think it's very similar to the Mulberry Freya.

I'd buy one of them and an evening clutch if it was up to me. Spend the money however you like & enjoy whatever you get Xmas Smile

iwanttobemissmarple · 26/12/2016 07:38

I got the Freya for Christmas- am very happy. I wanted it in black but now think I should have gone for another colour.

There's always my birthday! Xmas Grin

I just succumbed to an oxblood Tessie hobo in the sale. I had 2 Mulberry handbags stolen in a break in a few weeks ago so it's technically the insurance company's money I'm spending, not mine.

Im not a huge fan of mulberry bag because I find them too heavy once full. I'm also a one bag person so really use my bag a lot. I had the bayswater and the edging was wearing after 9 months. When I took it back to the shop they charged me for repair. When paying so much I don't expect the edging to be worn so certainly didn't expect to have to pay for repair.

DS has autism and a few sensory issues. My work back pack is quilted and he strokes it when on the subway. It's saved me!

Mominatrix · 26/12/2016 10:06

Instead of the LV neverfull, I'd go for a Goyard St Louis. You can personalise it at purchase or later.

Anya Hindmarch makes lovely, time, ess bags which are not boring.

If it is a hobo style you want, take a look at van astyn. It is a small Swiss company with superb quality bags in Hermes quality leather.

imjessie · 26/12/2016 10:38

Where did you get yours in the sale tessie ? I haven't been yet as it's tricky to get time out . I may go when they are back at school .

I'm a big fan of Anya Hindmarch too; she has a good selection of classic shapes, as well as the quirkier stuff she is known for. If it isn't too far from you and if you're open minded about bag shapes and colours, I'd recommend a trip to Bicester village. That way you can get two bags for that price Smile!

"nuttyknitter

I wouldn't spend it on a bag!"

I bought online this morning, I don't believe in real life sale shopping as I find it far too stressful

imjessie · 26/12/2016 13:10

Which shop nigella ? 🙏🏻🙏🏻

I personally think LV and mullbery are overpriced for what they are, I used to like the old mulberry designs , they were much better made and everything was in in the 250-800 price range, but now there is no way I'd pay over £1000 for mulberry, I'd rather get something from celine or get a chanel mini square or the new WOCs for instance which are a bit roomier, than the old ones, or chloe drew or something from bottega veneta.

I think it entirely depends on your lifestyle OP and ofcourse your preference of design, what you find asthetically pleasing, will this be something you will wear for ages? Or are you happy with buying something that will quickly date?

imjessie · 26/12/2016 13:49

My lifestyle is casual , I don't work and spend time in the gym or in casual clothing . I think I really like the mulberry Freya . That's the sort of look I'm going for it think . I like the Bayswater but feel it may be a smidge formal for me .

I'd go for the taupe Freya (smaller one).

HmmmHashtag · 26/12/2016 17:54

My very first Mulberry was a Bella hobo which was not too dissimilar to the Freya. Sounds like it's the perfect bag for you... Now you just need to decide on colour! Xmas Smile

Was in Fenwick just now, saw some Mulberry bags on sale.

SimplyNigella · 26/12/2016 18:06

It was Mulberry's website when the sale went live this morning. I think most stockists have gone on sale now if you Google. Good luck!

imjessie · 26/12/2016 18:11

It's the original price on my phone ? 😬😬

dazzlingdeborahrose · 26/12/2016 18:18

Oops sorry OP. I just scanned the pics and they are similar but on closer inspection straps are different. The Tessie is on sale on the website for 565. Which would leave enough to get a nice coach bag. Just saying Wink
