Dh wants to buy me a gift and I'm not sure what I want . I quite like the mulberry Freya . I have an Antony already and I like it . I fancy something a bit more handbaggy.

Well, the OP's DH is going to buy her a bag as a gift. So she's looking for something she might want, hence asking us for opinion.

Lucky you, OP!

QueenMortificado · 25/12/2016 09:59

Whenever you buy something luxury you start with your budget and then find something to fit it. I don't know why it's weird that the OP is doing that now.

AteRiri · 25/12/2016 10:01

Exactly, Queen!

mscongeniality · 25/12/2016 10:01

Why are people commenting if they don't have anything nice or constructive to say? Would it make them feel better if she was about to spend £1000 on some other hobby/item/activity? This is what she wants and this is what interests her!
People ARE allowed to have treats if they can afford them you know?

Want2bSupermum · 25/12/2016 10:01

I would get a gently used Chanel chain handled bag. They are more than your budget new but you should have a good selection in that budget if you go second hand. I live in the US and can connect you with my 'bag man'. He is awesome. DH has a love hate relationship with him. My SIL just died and went to heaven after getting her LV never full. It was $825 from him. Significantly cheaper than buying new and it is in nearly new shape (as in its sat in someone cupboard and been used 1-2 times).

My mother still uses her Chanel bag as her daily bad which purchased in 1982 as a push present for my brother. It is dated but is in amazing condition.

Shopgirl1 · 25/12/2016 10:04

I would buy a Balenciaga city bag- you might need to add a tiny bit to it though.
I have a few lovely handbags, I've treated myself occasionally over the years for big achievements, they last forever and always bring joy- I've got Chloe, Miu Miu, Alexander Wang, McQueen, Jerome Dreyfuss...but my all time favourite is my Balenciaga, cost per wear it's free at this stage, and it just gets better with age.

ChuckSnowballs · 25/12/2016 10:09

So you don't even know what bag you want, you just want to spend loads of money on it?

This.

Well, the OP's DH is going to buy her a bag as a gift. No he wants to get her a gift. It doesn't need to be a bag, and the OP doesn't even have one that she has been yearning for. Bags and shoes, that's all we women crave, yes?

However I am most disturbed by 'Hobo style'. Because Hobos are tres chic? And what better way to honour the tradition of Hoboing than to spend hundreds on a bag emulating it.

I mean, really? How crass is that? I am just stunned.

DP has treated me to a Mulberry Bayswater in Clay this year for Xmas. It's gorgeous. I'd pick it over and over again!

I think some people have stumbled into style and beauty by accident this morning...

You're allowed to talk about bags in here - even expensive ones Shock

SillyMoomin · 25/12/2016 10:14

Oh my god people. It's christmas

If the op's dh wants to buy her a flipping flying reindeer because that's what she's wants, he can!

I want and have asked for an emerald necklace. I'm hoping that is what is in the small box under the tree.

Go spend your money on what you want leave others to do the same

Want2bSupermum · 25/12/2016 10:16

Bloody hell there is one big collection of scrooges on here. The OP asked about which bag and have a good budget for something very nice. I know this budget is above what the vast majority of people can afford but it's Christmas. If you don't have something nice to say then shut up and go to AIBU to have a bun fight with your self righteousness.

As for a £5 bag from Primark, what was it? The plastic carrier bag?!? Oh no it was actually a bag made with small hands from a third world country.

FrankAndBeans · 25/12/2016 10:25

Jesus, get over yourselves people. If you've got nothing to say that keeps the thread on track keep it to yourselves!

ChuckSnowballs · 25/12/2016 10:26

It is absolutely nothing to do with being scrooges. Bloody hell, that is not what this is about at all.

If you don't have something nice to say then shut up and go to AIBU to have a bun fight with your self righteousness.

Nothing to do with self righteousness in any way, shape or form. This is an open forum and people can comment as they see fit. ]

I think some people have stumbled into style and beauty by accident this morning...

Oh bless. I was just pressing 'Active threads'. I don't stumble anywhere.

The OP has said she wants a bag. Who are you to say that she shouldn't want a bag? Confused

Yes, but as she is asking for opinions on bags, it's clear she wants to spend the gift on a bag. Which is her prerogative, because she is the recipient.

Bags and shoes, that's all we women crave, yes?

Not really. But even if a woman craves for bags and shoes, I don't see anything wrong with it.

TurnipCake · 25/12/2016 10:41

Blimey, some bags of chips on shoulders here Grin

I'm interested in a Mulberry too, have a money jar I've been saving £2 coins in, my parents got to almost 1K with theirs. Never owned a Mulberry but my friends who have theirs absolutely love them

AteRiri · 25/12/2016 10:44

What is this about? Please clarify, as I am struggling to understand what is the big issue here.

OP's husband wants to give her a gift, OP wants the gift to be a bag, OP asks for suggestion in Style and Beauty thread. Pretty straightforward to me.

Fjord1983 · 25/12/2016 10:46

I absolutely love this one:

I know it's not a classic but it's lovely!
