It sneaks up on you though. One day: fine. Next day: trousers like Michael Jackson's.

but surely, if they are wearing white sports socks underneath their too small trousers it's ok, is it not?

OttergavebirthonValentines · 19/02/2007 11:14

sadly there is a very geeky boy near us whose mother delights in calf-clenchers and we call the look the 'Bobby Skills'

Too long ANY day over that look
TBH i dont think mums of boys - style their boys enough. Girls are all pink and boho and boys are in some too short jeans with a spiderman top

MrsBadger · 19/02/2007 11:14

also
black shoes
black trousers
black socks

not white

Went out an bought DS lots of new thousers yesterday much to the disgust of DHs parents who said the ones he has will do him for another few months - his shoes are going to have to ask his trousers down for tea if he carries on growing the way he has over the next few months - I like them actually touching the floor at the back of his boots - mind you he has started refusing to wear sweaters where the sleeves do not cover his hands (think this is so he doesn't have to pull them down to wipe his nose!!) - he is getting geeky anyway so why do I bother??

MrsBadger · 19/02/2007 11:15

xp squonk

ledodgy · 19/02/2007 11:15

Oh dear God no not white socks as well as half mast trews!

foxtrot · 19/02/2007 11:15

it's that time of year i fear - halfway through the school year and the trousers that were dragging in the dust are now hoisted around the calves.

I know a family - she has four boys and all four dress in chinos and check shirts AND the husband does to.

Actually - she has now left and gone of with an RE teacher - and never sees the kids BUT that is another story

hatwoman · 19/02/2007 11:17

in defence of those whose children (dds as well as dss) have geeky trousers - maybe if they made trousers that fitted thin children we'd be able to buy ones that were the right length, and that didn;t fall off their waists.

foxtrot · 19/02/2007 11:17

character socks in favour here i'm afraid (not for school - grey, so dull)

balck socks.

mine weartrainer anyway so wear trainer socks

Tortington · 19/02/2007 11:17

i'll do what i can, although when they grow ( as they tend to do) and you get paid monthly( as i do) and your skint ( as i often am) then there is quite possibly the chance that some poorer mums may have to subject themselves to the breaking of your rule and face the judgement or their peer mothers. I'm like to sooth myself with the thought that other mums might we a tad understanding.
