Does he favour that sort of 1980s Undertones look ?

DinosChapman · 19/02/2007 15:04

DS1 went off to Yorkshire this morning wearing the only jeans that just about skim his ankles whilst not falling off his skinny middle.

Time to go shopping, methinks.

IntergalacticDave · 19/02/2007 15:04

No, he's just a fashion void!

Shall I start calling him Fergal?

noddyholder · 19/02/2007 15:05

It is hardly a crisis

Heavenis · 19/02/2007 15:06

Next do a good belt it has elastic in the back. Perfect for skinny waists.

DinosChapman · 19/02/2007 15:08

I like the Gap skinny fit jeans as well, v good on DS1.

Lucycat · 19/02/2007 15:15

It's only really at half term that I notice just how much dd has grown....school skirts are soooo much more forgiving!

she is a skirt wearer anyway, but in the park today I did notice the shortness of her trews...thank gawd for boots!

Aufish · 19/02/2007 16:03

Anyway what has it got to do with you how people dress their kids? I do make sure my kids all wear the right clothes, but they do this funny thing called grow and we don't always have time to go out and buy clothes for them. They get them as they need them not as people who are so narrowminded to worry about whether their trousers hit their shoe. Also its about time you learnt to spell or type, can't tell what is worse, a lazy person who can spell or one that worries about whether their child's trouser fits or not.

Beetrootccio · 19/02/2007 16:07

kids grow but not at an inch a week, and when they ahve grown out of trousers it is time to get new ones

Aloha · 19/02/2007 16:15

Saw a boy at the Polka theatre who wore a thin beige polo neck tucked into very high waisted Cowell trousers which were hugely short. He was skinny and had a bad haircut and I just felt so sorry for him in his 'kick me' clothes. Ds is odd (Aspergers) so I'm very careful to dress him in reasonably cool clothes. Nothing ridiculous, today Gap cords and a striped Gap t-shirt, because I have vivid memories of what was done to the geeky boys at my primary school. I remember particularly the living hell of the poor chap send in the LEDERHOSEN, ffs, and purple shorts with MATCHING BOW TIE. Poor bloody sod. Mother should have been arrested.

beckybrastraps · 19/02/2007 16:17

My dh would wear trousers a good two inches above his shoes if I would let him. It stems from his mother (as does so much I have to fight against...)

He loathes wearing trousers the right length. We were buying him some trousers once in John Lewis, and he insisted on trying on ones which were far too short, and I told him so, and the sales assistant told him so, and another woman supervising her dp's wardrobe told him so, but a man in a tank top and short sleeves said he thought they were OK and my dh turned and said to me "you see, they're fine". The man is the style equivalent of colour blind. He just doesn't see it at all.

Twiglett · 19/02/2007 16:17

its the vision of mothers standing in huddles judging the parents of other children because, god forbid, their trousers are too short .. shock horror

its pathetic

Aufish · 19/02/2007 16:18

Exactly my thoughts beetrootccio, they grow and people are sometimes too busy to worry about their kids trousers are sometimes short, its not like its the end of the world, especially when its like just skimming the shoe. People need to get a life and stop worrying about the length of a trouser leg.

brimfull · 19/02/2007 16:34

the mothers will be looking on in sympathy it'll be the other children who will be judging

Twiglett · 19/02/2007 16:37

if that's what is important to their parents I am sure they will be equally scathing

NorksBrideThePinkoLiberal · 19/02/2007 16:41

Because Cod, I'd rather his ankles were on show than his arse. Which is what happens if I buy trousers that bag nicely onto his shoe.

And don't you dare threaten me with suggestions that involve 'sewing'.

Well, I would normally be with you on this one Twiglett, but I am hypersensitive about the problems associated with being viewed as "geeky" by other children, and am very keen to minimise potential problems for my ds, who is shaping up very nicely to follow his parents into full geek-hood.
