ds1 does have M&S trousers - I still have to take them in - he is the Victoria Beckham of the 7 yr old world

yes, we do M&S trews for ds. He has a teeny waist and they fit him well.

have given up on trews for dd and she is permanently in dresses (which solve all the trouser/skirt waist problems)

(lol oati - that's exactly what it looks like doesn't it!)

other kids started to notice dd's clothes around age 9. She got ribbed about wearing clothes that didn't m atch for a dance competition and for gym.

I had to sort myself out.

noddyholder · 19/02/2007 17:55

I think we are different in Brighton then All manner of funny get ups here at all ages and no bullying so far

NuttyMuffins · 19/02/2007 17:55

Was thinking about this thread when I went on the school run and decided it is actually one of my major irks is trousers that are too short.

You'd think i'd have bigger things to worry about LOL.

There are twins that go to dd1's ballet class that always were trousers that are miles too short, I just could not send mine out looking like that.

Mind you have never had to do boys school trousers...have that fun to come in Sept

ghosty · 19/02/2007 17:56

Let them wear shorts all year round like they do in NZ - that'll sort it.

puddle · 19/02/2007 17:57

Snake belts. That's the answer for my very tall and v lithe nearly 7 year old.

Aloha I used to like the sound of the your wee Fotherington-Thomas boy and am sad to hear he's now in Gap cords!

Which shops sell snake belts ?? Have tried Next, H&M and Woolies but so far no good.

Aufish · 19/02/2007 17:59

Look, if this is the kind of thing you report for then I can see why in your own words they laugh at you. We are not perfect and yes, we do have other things to worry about, and from the way you started the thread, some people take offence. Report me if you want I really don't care, we are not all perfect like you like to think you are.

we find the M&S boys school trousers and shorts are good (and wash well). Never been that keen on Next stuff (for some reason). Also my kids don't like 'scratchy' material (can't think where they get that from ).

puddle · 19/02/2007 17:59

We got a pack of three from Boden. they're adjustable and have been going for the last three years - v good value.

called them 'floods' growing up
and agree, floods not a good look

I actually looked for black socks for dd to wear with her school uniform as I couldn't have my daughter wearing white socks with black shoes!!

(never did find any black socks for girls though.....still looking!)

lol noddy at a cross between Julian Clary and Artful dodger - sounds fabulous.

OttergavebirthonValentines · 19/02/2007 18:03

girls can wear white socks with black shoes as long as she is skirted and not in those rank grey nylon elasticated waist trousers

NuttyMuffins · 19/02/2007 18:03

Hmmm don't so Boden, i'll have to try elsewhere lol.

Oati · 19/02/2007 18:04

my ds1 insists on wearing normal black socks with his trainers, OTOH, ds2 wears trainer liners with everything, even to school.

I am obviously failing them as a mum.

If the other kids start taking the mickey though, maybe they will change their ways.

In the meantime I'm just not bovvered
