why do some mums not get thier sons trousers that actually hit their shoes

DS1 and DS2 both appeared downstairs this morning in trousers too short (I am very behind on the washing and they had reached the bottom layer of clothes in their drawers) I told them out right they had to change, they looked ridiculous.
IMO it's important to show kids how to dress correctly - I agree with Cod - short trousers look geeky. My kids wear mostly hand me downs or supermarket stuff - it doesn't break the bank to buy them a new pair of trews when they need them.

imagine how short my DS' trousers are .. oh the shame (actually they're too long but fuck it) .. find the whole concept sad

Made a big mistake with DS2's school trousers though. Bought him a larger size, too long and he has walked on the backs at the bottom and worn holes in them in half a term.

It is sad ,but it is also life, and children will get picked on if they look geeky...fact of life,so the parents choice really.

if you have skinny chidl, then, pick up a needle and thread and either let the hem down on the trousers, or tighten the waitst. zerro talent reqquired.

because you can only buy boys trousers that fit obese kids

if your boys are like mine they hate trousers which fall down their slender waists, they refuse to wear those adjustable trousers because the buttons dig in to their sides and they will sneak their younger brother's trousers out of his drawer because they prefer a tight fit so their trousers are often half way up their shin.

or you could choose to teach your kids how insipid and vaccuous it is to care about what other people wear rather than whether you like them

I am a geek. And I'm pretty happy to be one. Actually, I prefer the word 'nerd' as it has fewer technology associations (that would be dh).

But nerds/geeks have a hard enough time as it is. I have no intention of adding to them. Of course, merely by accepting the stereotype I am to an extent reinforcing it, but hey...

another crime that I'm guilty of. My dses quite often seem to be in trousers that are too short.

The problem is that there is usually about 4 inches difference between the sizes so for quite a long period of time the smaller size is too short and the bigger is too long

And don't tell me to take them up - I lost enthusiasm for constant taking up and letting down yonks ago

"children will get picked on if they look geeky" yes they will. And so will children who have glasses, or can't read very well, or have a fat mum, or support a 1st division football team, or have ginger hair.

Most children get picked on at some time in life and most learn to deal with it. Without mummys help. If it becomes bullying, well that's a different problem.

same goes for girls. They start off ok, honest. But eventually I notice huge sails flapping above her banana feet. It's kinda sweet in a way.

gawd, I don't even look at what my children are wearing (as they are old enough to choose what they wear and dress themselves).

Shurley, other children don't notice things like this.

Like hatwoman's kids, mine are of the no waist/skinny waist variety, so finding trousers with the correct waist and right length is not easy. And before you utter the words adjustable waist, if you have to pull those waists right in, it bunches up the elastic and is quite uncomfortable!

I love mad clothes on kids My ds is reasonably trendy now as he is 12 and they are all programmed at that age to follow the herd |But when he was little I dressed him in whatever came to hand and he oftem went out looking like a cross between the artful dodger and julian clary and he is/was hugely popular and has never been picked on.I say dress your kids as you please and sod everyone else.

Urchin chic I don't think kids really notice each others clothes it is the parents who bring these things to light.
