It would be fab to have a cosmetics startup - I'd send you all mystery test batches Glossier style so that we could collectively come up with the best products 💄💅🏻💋💪🏻

My good news is nothing that glam... You could see my work as a startup (I train young scientists). My postdoc got a big grant that allows her to pursue her dreams. And the rest of us got some money that allows us to do something really fun. And so we were all busy celebrating today. My research group is like my second family. I have more than ten 'children' and seeing them all happy and optimistic and excited - well was one of those Lifetime movie moments Wink

I'm throwing some glittery pixie dust in the air ✨✨✨ ✨✨
If you catch some, it will bring you good fortune🌈🦄🍾
.

kwick · 02/02/2017 19:56

Thanks frustrated I really hope I caught some!!!
So pleased with your good news Grin

Yes me too frustrated pick me pick me.

And moogletea that HA is amazing. I loved it and can't wait to replace.

spartacus I've had many good nights at a working men's club! Very jealous of you guys with insider access to products! Would love a company shop.

AnotherPinkiePieStory · 02/02/2017 20:12

Oops missed your post. Wow Sounds glam to me Frustrated congratulations, well done. Research funding is a scary world. You must be very well respected. I spent time in a lab and loved my PCR/ western Blot time but don't have it in me for full time research. I'm going to try to catch some pixie dust. Really want some of that sparkle.

FrustratedFrugal · 02/02/2017 20:19

MrsD I really like the idea of a reverse Lent!

Some things I'd love to do -
Go to a comedy club
Spend a few days out in the countryside with a good friend
Organize a 'Bring Your Children to Work' Day
See this exhibition

MrsDilligaf · 02/02/2017 21:12

Frugal

I really enjoy it - I try and do something out of the ordinary every day - even if it is trying a really spicy curry!

The year I started it I gave a pound to charity every day. I just put a pound in the first charity tin I came across, I've done all sorts.

I'm lucky to be in the position I am, so from that perspective I would rather be financially and emotionally generous than to give up something I enjoy.

Totally on board with the 12 disciples!

DragonNoodleCake · 03/02/2017 06:59

Yeay - nice to read about happy times!

I'm drowning in work but on a happy note things seem to be turning a corner for DD - as DGS's DF now wants to come see him. He's totally apologised for the head in the sand approach. We've met the other DGP's twice and they have been lovely and just love DGS as much as we do. (They live fairly local- he works away)

Kwick - glad you got it, couldn't resist adding the little bits. I hope you get on well with Redken.

I actually loved making and sending the parcel - I felt like a little elf spreading beauty product joy! So who wants the next one? I'm sure I promised Mascara and lipstick samples - so PM me postage details!!

DragonNoodleCake · 03/02/2017 07:07

Oh and after 2 nights in pet hospital and lots of expensive medicine later Jaffa the cat is on the mend too!

I think the pixie dust is working - thanks

Pinkie I meant to add your name in the post below for the mascara. PM me details so I can be a beauty parcel elf again

I actually need to get out of bed and in the shower for work - literally can't be arsed

DragonNoodleCake · 03/02/2017 07:10

And frustrated it is glam and hard work! We all have to do our different jobs to make the world work. I'm not sure research is in me (my career also began in lab) but it's awesome! I love how you call them your 'children'

kwick · 03/02/2017 08:00

dragon aka beauty elf I am really liking the shampoo - I almost did not wash my hair today but I played it on the safe side as I woke up with the sweats and want to look nice for dinner tonight with my cousin.

Happy Friday everyone!!

By the way I am setting myself a very ambitious 12 disciples list as I am starting now and Easter is in April. By that I mean I am grouping things together for some of the 12 - like gingerlily shower gel, perfume and hand cream counts as one.

DragonNoodleCake · 03/02/2017 09:11

I'm going to get in on the 12 disciples thing.

Postie brought me a lovely card this morning kwick!

dogdaydisaster · 03/02/2017 13:59

I'm in for 12 disciples too, will get thinking. Full size finished here- the Vichy aqualia serum (blue one). I like this and have another but am going to use others up first.

Lots of happy news around, think the slightly brighter weather is helping too.

FrustratedFrugal · 03/02/2017 20:12

Yes please sign me up for #12disciples!
And Reverse Lent as well!

I've technically finished #5fullsize - Wella hairspray is gone. However, one of the finished products wasn't on my original list. Because it would be so much more satisfying to end the list with a serum, eye palette or lipstick (=products that go on forever), I will need to finish one more product before Valentine's.

So who do you think will win the race of three turtles:
*Missha Time Revolution serum (it literally reverses time)
*Chanel Eclosion eye palette (an egg that never hatches)
*Max Factor Chilli (a lipstick that lost its fire years ago)
Place your bets!

kwick · 03/02/2017 21:43

frugal if the serum turns back time why are you in a rush to finish up? Confused

OP posts:
kwick · 04/02/2017 07:47

I just used up Skin Benefit anti-ageing hand treatment gloves - they were a stocking present.

OP posts:
kwick · 04/02/2017 08:27

I have another "empty"!!
Lush King of Skin body butter - smells of white chocolate. Very practical for travel - not so keen on the scent.

Needastrongone · 04/02/2017 08:34

I'm just checking in. I have no empties to report. A few close, but no cigar. Smile

AlfaMummy · 04/02/2017 09:19

Morning Ladies, very busy this past week but I've still managed to chalk up a few empties. First of all, my Liz Earle rose cleanse and polish - love this and always have one in my slash. The rose fragrance made a nice change. Now using up my Elemis cream cleanser special edition, which smells beautiful. Second to bite the dust was a travel size L'Occitane body lotion which I took away with me last weekend. This was originally swiped from a hotel - pleased that I've managed to use it up. A couple of Balance Me hand creams have also been used up, too. Along with the L'Occitane Shea handcream, I always have many tubes on the go as my hands will crack and get so sore without a good handcream applied after getting my hands wet. So I have many more tubes in the stash to replace with. This week will see the end of my Clarins foot cream, I will then be able to move on to my L'Occitane one which has been waiting behind scenes for too long. So pleased I'm getting through my stash. Just sitting up in bed and my baby has just been sick on my knickers!! Gotta go! Happy weekend all!

FiveShelties · 04/02/2017 10:44

Morning everyone. Two empties to report. Clarins Super Restorative Total Eye Concentrate, which I have been using for months and really liked. Obviously no need to repurchase as I just may have the odd eye cream buried in the stash. The other empty was a Mitcham deoderant, this is my favourite and I use it all the time so usually the odd one, of three, in stock.

I do not seem to be making much headway as I try to have a mammoth use up before we move (again), but am definitely enjoying the challenge. Grin

moogletea · 04/02/2017 22:53

Wow @alfalummy - impressive!
I've hit pan on nars orgasm. Just the finest spot - will take ages to finish still but it made me nearly shriek out loud!

usernameinfinito · 05/02/2017 01:55

Hello everyone!
lovely photos Dragon
This is my used products list:

  1. Ricci Ricci 50ml perfume
  2. Hand salve burt bees
  3. Foot cream burt bees coconut
  4. Make up remover boots botanics 150ml
  5. White amber next body lotion 200ml
  6. perfume 50ml

Have some lovely clarins samples to use and more perfume Smile
This thread also helps me use all my cosmetics and it makes me feel pampered. Cake

kwick · 05/02/2017 09:34

I am impressed go dragon!
No probs about parcel. Conjunctivitis back again so no mascara and had to bin another one. Feel a right dolly daydream with my red eye!
You guys impress me so much.
I still have 8 on my valentines list yet finished 2 of my Easter list. I can't get it right! So finished lush snow fairy and pink batisse dry shampoo. Both great and buy repeatedly

Now really need to get cracking on never ending fake tanner (3 open!) and body moisturiser (4 open). Reckon can crack some hand creams though with endless hand washing to avoid infecting everyone at home.

woodhill · 05/02/2017 12:53

Used up a lavender body oil plus full size hair conditioner.

Still not good at applying concealer wand under eyes. Not sure at all.

Soldiering on with using make up. Think secret is to the resist any new make up and I have stuck to it since a July apart from stuff in beauty calendar so pleased with self discipline.

Nearly out of toner. I usually buy Clinique purple one. Quite like pixi one from M&S, nothing too harsh. Any recommendations

Thanks
