I want black head strips!!! But have zero. I had a facial on Saturday and my beautician had a lovely time sorting my blackheads. Secretly not secretly she enjoys it.

SpartacusWoman · 23/01/2017 22:27

How have I never come across this thread before?

I have an embarrassing hoard of cosmetics and nail polish, even more embarrassing I don't wear half of it. My New Years resolution was to use two polishes per week and also one eyeshadow/lipstick/blush etc, and decided I'd have a good clear out while I'm on. (Over 150 polishes, dare to count my other stuff)

My problem is that when I find something I like, I want every colour, but always end up wearing the same old shades and the only eye shadows I generally are the naked palettes.

I recently bought three Essie polishes for a total of £1 and I picked up benefits missy kissy set for £15 last week. You get a mini benefit and lollitint along with two They're Real lipsticks (these are absolutely gorgeous and are now my holy grail lipsticks)

Popped in boots today and ended up buying a sleek eyeshadow palette and a under eye concealer and face concealer from the seventeen range, ended up getting a free lip palette for spending £6.

Anyone fancy sharing their must have/holy grailS? My fave repurchase products.

Benifits Porefessional primer.

Foundation and concealers I'm still trying to find one I love. Any recs would be great.

Elf brow kit. Lovely, makes my brows more defined but looks natural, have tried loads of eyebrow product but this ones my go to one now and at £3 it's a steal.

Elf champagne eye primer. (Prefer Urban Decay but at £3 and works just as well I buy this one)

naked 1,2,3 and smoky. Are the other palettes by Urban Decay any good?

Benefit they're real mascara, recently discovered absolute lashes by W7 is a very very good dupe and for £3 it's a perfect substitute when funds are low.

Avon gel eyeliner for dramatic look, it's a pencil but very pigmented and applies like a gel. No7 black/brown eyeliner pencil for softer line.

Sleek crochet, lace blush trio and benefit Dandelion. I reach for the sleek the most but actually like dandelion a lot more, but because dandelion is pricey and I have to use a lot of product to get the look I want, the sleek feels more economical.

Lips - benetint, they're real lipsticks and Rimmel 1,000 kisses lipgloss (this stuff could stay on lips for days)

I haven't found a bronzer or highlighter I like yet, any recs welcome.

No 7 translucent setting powder.

Nails, I love love love Revlon quick dry base coat, Revlon quick dry top coat. It's made even the chippiest of polishes last a few days, and better brands like OPI easily lasts a week, it's drys super quick too and I find I can rummage around in a handbag within ten mins.

Skincare I always use Simple.

Might have an empty soon, am three quarters through a boujour happy light primer.

SpartacusWoman · 23/01/2017 22:42

Ive seen Lancôme mentioned a few times. I've not tried any of their products, anyone recommend any must haves from them? Dh and I are buying each other valentines gifts for the first time in 18 years so might drop him some hints.

kwick · 24/01/2017 08:14

Morning all. Not much happening here but I do have a couple of empties. I finished a pixi glow tonic, which was nice and I have another in the store, but am going back to my clearasil pads now to see if I can see if there's a difference in results. I also used up a body shop mango scrub, so I am now scrub-less. Will go back to using the scratchy gloves instead to save a bit of money.

Have a good day everyone.

kwick · 24/01/2017 13:14

dogday let me know how experiment lands up. I was really impressed by the Clearsil pads.
I much prefer the gloves/scrubber things to body scrubs (which may contain nasty microbeads). Only exception - Lush lip scrub as it tastes so yummy!!!

I had a squiz at my hand cream stash this morning - only one L'occitane tube left (which I wil keep for handbag) and one other travel size tube!!!! But I am going to refrain from buying anymore until body lotion stocks are somewhat depleted too.

Spartacus Hi. I use a Tom Ford bronzer, which was £££, but has been used daily since August and doesn't look like it's hardly had a dint made in it. I will buy again.

I walked into Boots today, and didn't buy anything...just saying. Grin

CantChoose · 24/01/2017 19:20

dogday I have fiftymillionsquillion unopened body scrubs if you want me to post you one?!?

kwick · 24/01/2017 19:20

Well done need!!! I am impressed Grin

Don't you think smells are such funny things? I was in a meeting today and the person beside me went to powder her nose and when she got back I got wafts of a lovely scent which transported me back to my Aunt and Uncle's house when I was little... I loved that smell... I nearly asked her what perfume she was wearing but I figured it was soap or cream not perfume. So when the meeting finished I did a bit of detective work. Turns out in the cloakroom they had "Ebony Honey & Mango"... it is one of these hotel only brands... so unless I want to buy 6 at a time... 😭

Needastrongone · 24/01/2017 20:18

I honestly couldn't justify anything kwick, but it sounded virtuous.... I did pick up a free sample of a new Next perfume today, but have yet to have sniff tbh.

Scrubbed with S&G The Scrub of your Life today, again I am impressed with the efficacy and value of this brand. Used Aussie shampoo/conditioner (will reserve judgement until straightened in the morning) and moisturised with Nuxe oil, a once a month treat. It would be far more than this as this stuff is so divine, but it's too expensive and you use too much to justify.

One empty, M&S Absolute Ultimate Sleep Cream from the Advent Calendar. I absolutely loved this. It's very unassuming. I didn't expect to think anything of it, but feel I have found a hidden gem. Just the right combination of richness that you want in an overnight cream, but not greasy or claggy. A gentle smell. 15ml lasted me a month. A 50ml pot is £22. I like this one very much.

TheLovelyLinda · 25/01/2017 09:47

Thank you for the mascara recommendations, ladies. Here's some of my beauty hoard...

FrustratedFrugal · 25/01/2017 16:05

Some cosmetics are hard work - they feel like a chore.
But these are my current faves - they bring me joy:

Yves Rocher, Kiko and Chanel lipsticks
Sensai and Max Factor compact foundation
Kiko and Revlon nail polish
No 7 and Sensai mascara
Lily Lolo blusher/bronzer
Bioderma micellar water
Wella hair products
Korres and Joik body products
Chanel and Guerlain perfumes
castile and black nigella soap

FrustratedFrugal · 25/01/2017 16:07

Linda Impressive hoard!
But nothing we haven't seen
You are among friends 😘

FrustratedFrugal · 25/01/2017 16:11

Oh and Kwick I love your fragrant memories - what a magical description.

Big public speaking thing over and done with. So relieved... 😅😅😅

kwick · 25/01/2017 16:38

Yay frustrated!!! Did it go well?

AnotherPinkiePieStory · 25/01/2017 16:45

So you def need to treat yourself to something fragrant frustrated .......

I'm waiting on samples of la fumee range from miller harris as really loved original. Will make perfume stash 50+ Mostly samples but argh

FrustratedFrugal · 25/01/2017 16:53

Thanks for asking Kwick I think it was okay - I got some really positive comments and many people came and spoke with me. This was pretty big for me, I spent a lot of time preparing and felt fairly nervous. I've recently started getting paid for speaking and that raises the stakes even higher.

Other news - I have just learned that & Other Stories is opening a branch near me. I really like their stuff, makeup and jewellery in particular, so this is going to be a major challenge. A bit like having Sephora or Kiko next door Wink

Needastrongone · 25/01/2017 17:58

Pinkie I have the Temple Spa night cream, the one that has lavender in it, I think it's called Repose. It's way too greasy to use regularly, but is a lovely treat and sends me to sleep faster than anything else. Think my pot is over 2 years old and I have some left.

Glad it went well Frugal.

I'm really into Nuxe products at present and Soap and Glory stuff.

FrustratedFrugal · 25/01/2017 18:36

I love Nuxe too Needastrongone.
I don't really like oils but make an exception for Huile Prodigiouse - it amells fantastic. They also have a skin cream (creme fraiche???) that I really like.

I have an empty: Munkens Beeswax lip balm.
My HG favorite. No frills beeswax, so good. Used twice a day, these last forever (six months? a year?). I love everything about them and have one or two replacements because they can be super hard to find.

2/5 from my #finish5fullsize gone!

DragonNoodleCake · 25/01/2017 19:52

Hi all, having a particularly shattered week, work is OTT at the moment and I've had to log on most evenings.

It's been so busy I've managed to avoid the company store opening times for the last few weeks 😀 (yes company store - I can't even get away from products at work!!)

DD2 had a accident this evening (fell off dining chair) it was all eventful and has resulted in a very sore chin with a hole in from her tooth.

I'm currently sitting deciding on what will be most effective in helping me over the ordeal, a pamper, a cuppa, tv, a drink or even just bed!!

kwick · 25/01/2017 21:08

Sounds interesting frustrated what were you speaking about?
Never heard of "other stories"... feel like I need to google it...

When did we say the #finish5fullsize was for? I need to get going!!!

SpartacusWoman · 26/01/2017 13:09

Hope your dd is ok Dragon.

I've heard lots of good things about collection concealer so I've just ordered one. I hadn't tried any collection products in years, it was what my Mum always bought bought and I wasn't a fan, I bought their eye primer last week and I didn't think much of it. Sounds like their products are hit and miss?

Last night, I gathered all my lipglosses together. Counted them and I had 83, I know there's at least 5 missing so it's probably more like 90, most if them look the same colour too.

I've whittled them down to about 60 and set aside some unused for my friends dd. Is giving used lipgloss away a no no? Seems a shame to bin the ones I've use a few times when I know she'd love them, but would it be grim giving her them?
