I have work. I really don't feel madly like doing it: DD1 was off yesterday and my own energies are nose-diving despite diligent Ladyjogging. It is entirely possible that seeing my dad took it out of me more than I think.

Have packed schedule of life-sorting today. Need to set myself up as a tutor, and as a proper freelance writer, and generally spray myself liberally around the internet. I've seen a freelance gig that would be great for me, but requires various web tech skills I can't truthfully say I have. WIBU to lie, then teach myself if I get the interview?

Depends how extensive such skills are, herbs. The BBC journalism site has good stuff on writing for digital - lots of stuff on SEOs etc - and there are useful other sites with quite a lot of free stuff in them; setting up a Wordpress blog is also a useful exercise (I haven't taken this seriously enough).

I was going to dedicate Fridays to training up, but have just got a slew of paid stuff AT LAST and also have zero energy ATM.

Also if you haven't done this, set up your own website.

(An easy ready-made one obvs.)

I keep meaning to set up my own website. But then fear that my two 'skillsets' might make me look a bit jack-of-all-trades, and how to structure the website, and wibble wibble, so I never do it.

I have been a website editor before, and redone other people's website, and done a social media course, so have a grounding. Just need enough for interview bullshit purposes.

Herbs, I would do two blogs or websites, one for each trade as you will need different identities I think, different twitter set ups etc. They could be linked via the "About me" page or whatever. Wordpress.com blogs are very easy to set up, flexible, loads of themes and can swap easily etc etc, and you can opt for a static front page so they look quite websitey - you could have one set up for tutoring by the end of the day (think editorial will take longer as you are showcasing the relevant skills in it and might want it fancier).

What are the skills they are asking for?
