Can we have a thread about recent clothing purchases that we love?

I seriously need some inspiration for my winter wardrobe!

My best recent purchase is this dress from topshop (even though I'm probably too old to be shopping there!). Its very flattering on my short, pear-shaped figure and looks great with black tights and boots. Great for any occasion.

I love love love my new Joules navy, cream and pink stripy top, and dark green gilet. Smile

chickenowner · 19/10/2016 14:47

Dancergirl that's a lovely dress, I might knit myself a similar one!

IDismyname · 19/10/2016 15:54

I used to love those jumper dresses when I had the figure for them

My latest purchase is these: Zara Culottes

They look waaaaay more expensive than they are

becauseican · 19/10/2016 16:22

CointreauVersial you've just talked me into that jumper. Wink

Hahaha. I thought I was the only one who found it difficultGrin

minipie · 19/10/2016 16:38

Great thread! I am going through all the links... some lovely knitwear especially.

This dress from Oliver Bonas. Lovely flattering summer wear ( now in the sale if you're a 12 or 14)

Marylebone high waisted slim jeans from the White Company. Not sure how well they'll wear but they do a fab job of hiding my post baby waist flab.

these sunglasses. Absurdly expensive especially as I'll probably break them or lose them but they are the only sunglasses I've ever found which really suit me.

New Balance trainers with velcro (from the kids' department Grin) Bought because I hate my laces coming undone, but it turns out velcro trainers are a thing at the moment.

These ballet flats from Office. Good price and colour goes with everything.

Question about Mint Velvet - how well does their stuff wash and last? Especially the knitwear?

Florathefern · 19/10/2016 16:41

The turtleneck navy jumper is fab!!!! I love love love it!

Banana Republic had a similar skirt during the summer. Might be worth having a look. It was cheaper. Of course now that I have said that, thectwo skirts won't be at all alike.

MissWillaCather · 19/10/2016 16:52

IJustLost love that coat. Can I ask about sizing, I am a twelve, but sometimes struggle with anything from Zara!

Aworldofmyown · 19/10/2016 17:01

Don't usually shop in Joules but I love these recent purchases!

I recently did a post pregnancy Autumn/Winter Primark trip as I desperately needed some new stuff following birth of baby boy to update my wardrobe.

Primark never lets you down, and being 35 I still want to look trendy to some degree.

Put together a Vlog about my purchases if anyone wants to see what I bought in the flesh.

Enjoy xx

poldarker · 19/10/2016 19:20

So many great links here! I bought this top a few weeks ago and have had loads of compliments!

Oooh minipie I had forgotten about Oliver Bonas, I haven't looked there for a while.

I had to have a quick look at their website and found this dress:

And this jacket:

I am so jealous of that BF 1970 jumper. Have been lusting after it but just can't possibly justify the cost.

Cargo trews I can't do brogues, except the chunky heeled ones - just don't suit me/feel right. Converse look a bit odd with them and so do ballet shoes and Chelsea boots.

Dancergirl · 19/10/2016 19:55

silently I LOVE the Mango suede jacket, such a gorgeous colour.

ShotgunNotDoingThePans · 19/10/2016 20:05

Dancergirl have you tried that dress on/seen it irl? Looks lovely but not sure how it would fare on an hourglass. (Size 12 but g-cups make anything unfitted hang tent-like). Love knitted dresses though.

TheWeeBabySeamus1 · 19/10/2016 20:07

Some lovely clothes on here, I'm going to have to hide my debit card after reading it. Grin

I'm skint but my lovely mum has treated me to a few things recently. My favourites are my Vans and a khaki shirt from New Look

No not yet shot but maybe you're right about the fit. I am also quite curvy but more inverted triangle shape so maybe it's not right for me.

TheWeeBabySeamus1 · 19/10/2016 20:18

I also got this dress (which I love) but I have no idea how to style it so its unworn as of yet. Any ideas for jacket/shoes etc?

Can't find it online so please excuse the changing room pic. Smile

BabyGanoush · 19/10/2016 20:18

It says "straight cut"

I'd love that dress, but I really need things cut for an hour glass shape, on me it would be baggy on thi waist and snug on the hips Sad

BabyGanoush · 19/10/2016 20:20

Weebaby, I like your dress too

Where is it from?

I'd wear with leather jacket and large scarf

TheWeeBabySeamus1 · 19/10/2016 20:22

It's from New Look, got quite a high neck which I've always avoided because I've got a round face, but I was really surprised at how good it looked on - and it's nice and stretchy so there's some wiggle room if I put on a few pounds.

I don't have a leather one but I do have a bomber jacket - would that go?

MissWillaCather · 19/10/2016 20:29

I have this jersey style dress and it's very flattering, I'm an hourglass Topshop

Liska · 19/10/2016 20:57

Just bought these from zara and love them.

Also wanted this jacket but they'd sold out of my size:

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 19/10/2016 21:06

Liska - Fantastic jacket - like being back in 1992!

Florathefern · 19/10/2016 21:11

Remus I can't remember what your cargo trousers look like but I know I have a pair and have similar difficulty with shoes. Mine are Suoerdry and are very heavy material. If I turn up the legs, converse look ok. My problem is converse are not good in cold/wet weather and my trousers are better for colder weather.

I don't wear ballet flats, Chelsea boots look a bit dressy (mine are army style with lots of deep pockets), brogues look a bit dainty, my chunky heel brogues are patent so I don't think they go with them either. Tbh I've had the trousers two years and worn them once for half a day during the summer but they were so heavy, I ended up changing out of them. I wish I'd never bought them! Is it too late for you to return yours or are you set on keeping them?
