Can we have a thread about recent clothing purchases that we love?

I seriously need some inspiration for my winter wardrobe!

My best recent purchase is this dress from topshop (even though I'm probably too old to be shopping there!). Its very flattering on my short, pear-shaped figure and looks great with black tights and boots. Great for any occasion.

I have my eye on two dresses in FCUK for Xmas - but depends on if I ever save enough to get one!

Bought a cheap leopard print jumper in H&M a few weeks ago. Annoyingly I can't find it online. I like it tho, and have worn it to work with black trousers.

Am keen to get a few new bits for Autumn/Winter but I seem to have lost my shopping mojo. Shock Am going to go shopping on Tuesday and see if I can find anything. I really need ankle boots.

JohnCheese · 16/10/2016 23:01

Although now that I think about it, I haven't quite lost my mojo. Was going to order 2 skirts from jcrew last week, but both sold out in my size while I was dithering about size. Grr.

Looking for a work bag too. Saw this black H&M bag online but I'm reluctant to spend that amount in H&M.

Quite like these boots and also these ones. I'm dithering (again). They do fill the low-ish heel necessity. Bit pricey tho.

neveradullmoment99 · 16/10/2016 23:10

I have bought these:

The boots are the silver hardware rather than the gold.

I bought this coat from & Other Stories recently and really like ti: here
I like both those boots JohnCheese (sorry, not helpful!) and I like that skirt Cointreau - really like pleated skirts on other people and i bought a silver one from Toyshop in the summer but took it on holiday and never wore it for the same reasons you aren't sure about it - couldn't decide what to wear on my feet or as a top so the jury is still out and that was 3 months ago!!

bloomingheather · 16/10/2016 23:13

Sorry, the coat was the dark green one, not the black. And 'it' NOT 'ti'!!

bloomingheather · 16/10/2016 23:14

Love the coat and boots never - are they the ones from Office? I've been looking at them, trying to decide whether to buy them!

neveradullmoment99 · 16/10/2016 23:16

Yes, they are gorgeous. Not worn them yet but intend to soon!!!!

neveradullmoment99 · 16/10/2016 23:17

The coat is pretty cheap in price too. Think £39 from Mango.

Floisme · 16/10/2016 23:29

I can't link any of these but:
My new specs, Cutler and Gross, not on their website but cats eye shape and a lovely smoky grey with a tinge of purple.

A leather coat which I found in a vintage shop and have swooned over several times on here already.

A brocade pencil skirt, also from a vintage shop.

SueTrinder · 17/10/2016 00:06

I think I'm having a bit of a midlife crisis and have bought loads of clothes this autumn and am still at the 'OMG I love my new clothes' stage so am going to list pretty much everything.

Loving my leopard lace up trainers. I'm not quite brave enough for a coat like some of you!

Like half of MN I've bought the Hush Tara dress in forest green. I may also have the Boden ruched skirt on back order Blush.

I really love my ruffle neck top from Boden that is so see-through I have to wear it with a nude silk camisole. But it makes me feel very sophisticated. And I've just bought a short sleeved batwing jumper in the Mint Velvet sale which I will probably wear to work tomorrow with some grey trousers.

jelly10 · 17/10/2016 07:10

SueTrinder I love that mint velvet top! What would you wear over/under it if you got a bit chilly? I never know what to wear with that shape but love the look of it.
I've bought some gorgeous ankle boots from clarks www.clarks.co.uk/p/26111977 and the hush Tara dress in burgundy which I love - isn't my normal style at all and I feel fab in it! Looks great with the boots, and I've also got my eye on black glittery Adidas gazelles to wear with it for a more casual look.
Thank you for the info about next joggers above (sorry, I can't remember who posted it and my phone won't let me scroll back for some reason). I've had my eye on the hush ones but they are a bit too ££ and I got a next voucher for my birthday a while ago which is burning a hole in my pocket! The joggers are very different from my usual style as well but I think I'll give them a try, I'm enjoying breaking out of my style rut a little bit and it's also helping me focus on choosing a few things to fill gaps in my wardrobe rather than buying more things which are basically the same as things I've already got!!

JohnCheese · 17/10/2016 09:17

Fab links on this thread.

Othe stories coat is great. Scrolled through Mint Velvet knitwear via SueT's link. Some lovely stuff.

I'm expecting not to need to worry about that because my work's heating is far too high so I'm generally roasting at work. Out of work I'd put a long sleeved t-shirt under it but I'll need to be careful about necklines, it's got more of a cowl neck than the image on the website suggests so I suspect it will need either a turtleneck or something with a fairly low and wide neckline that you can't see under the neckline of this jumper.

Agree mint velvet does have some lovely knitwear, my local HofF has just had a revamp and has now got a sizeable concession (much better than the Country Casuals that was there before) and I took about 8 things into the change room and bought 2. Pretty generous sizing I think as well, I bought the small jumper which is unheard of (I'm very generous of boob).

wiltingfast · 17/10/2016 23:52

Bought fake leather biker trousers Grin

This top from cos

This jumper From H&M

This dress too (also cos, you were warned! Grin

Oldraver · 18/10/2016 00:02

I bought this White Stuff skirt. I cant remember the last time I bought a skirt as I dont usually get on with them. Its lovely and velvety

Florathefern · 18/10/2016 00:53

I really like the White Stuff skirt.

Wilting what is the green top like on? I have been looking at it on the website for a few weeks now. I'm unsure if I can style it as it should look which is very cool. I'm afraid it will look sensible on me and it is so lovely.

wiltingfast · 18/10/2016 08:11

Flora it's lovely Smile lovely sheen on the fabric. Nicely cut on the shoulders. Quite a straight fit then so I am going to wear it untucked. Over black skinnies or the fake leathers I linked to above. Will wear over regular wide trousers for work

Am v tempted by these but they are pricy...

taybert · 18/10/2016 08:17

I'm after a couple of dresses to wear in the day with boots. I like this in navy (the pink would make me look dead) but not sure why tights to wear it with. Would black be ok?

Florathefern · 18/10/2016 13:13

Oh they are nice too but try Asos for a cheaper version. I recently bought the grey (shoe not boot style) ones for under thirty pds. Having bought Ash high top trainers last year a hefty price tag, I am delighted with the Asos ones and I will not be buying Ash again.

Florathefern · 18/10/2016 13:16

I bought that dress Taybert. I loved it but I returned as I found another navy dress in the Cos sale. Also that silk effect skirt can 'spot' and stain very easily as I learned the hard way with the same style dress from last year.

taybert · 18/10/2016 17:59

Hmm, thanks Flora, might rethink given that I have a four year old and a two year old....it is nice though. There's a nice shirt dress on there too but it's black and I've got loads of black.

wiltingfast · 18/10/2016 20:34

Ooo the black shirt dress, I think I tried that on. It was great but I'm a bit bored of plain black and navy so didn't buy, it's on my mind tho Grin I might go back

Maybe you could team it with leopard skin flats to lift it?

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 18/10/2016 20:44

I bought some M&S skinny cargo trousers, which are beautifully soft and quite flattering. Struggling a bit with the right footwear for them though. They look good with heeled ankle boots, but not so good with any of my flats.
