New piercing

After lots of indecision I have taken the plunge and had a daith piercing done. I love it! It's a tiny act of rebellion against being 40 and always dressing for my professional role.

I was so pleased with the speed and the fact it barely hurt at all- I will never again ask why people say you shouldn't do ear piercings with a gun and to get a needle job done. No comparison at all! Smile

I just wanted to tell someone as I haven't got anyone else to tell about it- DS looked horrified and DH isn't home yet.

Well done! Liberating isn't it? I finally had my nose pierced this summer.

wendytorrence · 23/09/2016 17:29

I'm wanting my done before my 40th too.
It really doesn't hurt? I've been putting in off tbh because I'm a wimp!

wendytorrence · 23/09/2016 17:29

*mine not my

Psyhke · 23/09/2016 17:31

Ohh I want. I just got a new helix the other day to join the tragus one I already have. Love shiny new metal Smile

Gingefringe · 23/09/2016 17:33

I fancy getting a Helix piercing as I like the look of Hermione Norris's on Cold Feet (sorry dont have a link) - it looks quite classy.

MimsyBorogroves · 23/09/2016 17:33

I had a daith done the other day too. Pretty, aren't they?

TeaStory · 23/09/2016 17:36

I love my daith. It's such a pretty piercing.

mycatstares · 23/09/2016 17:39

Ah jealous I want one! Fancy sharing a photo of it? Did it really not hurtShock.

I'd like one but not sure if it would look silly with my Tragus hoop..

raspberrysuicide · 23/09/2016 17:40

I had my nose done this year and a 3rd hole in both ears too. I love it! Was thinking of getting a daith piercing too pleased to hear it didn't hurt x

fruitysmoothie · 23/09/2016 17:41

Could I be cheeky and ask for a photo of anyone's daith piercings too?! I have been thinking of getting one....

QueenofLouisiana · 23/09/2016 17:41

This is mine. Not at all painful- bit of freeze spray on first, then nothing more than a scratch. A bit of fiddling while the ring and beads were put in. I was warned it takes up to a year to heal, which was a surprise. I keep "accidentally" looking in a mirror to admire it.

That is stunning Queenoflouisiana

QueenofLouisiana · 23/09/2016 17:42

Oh, should point out, this is only 1 1/2 hours old so it still looks a bit pink!

It's gorgeous! I had both of mine done a few weeks ago with little hearts, you'll get so many compliments on it!

noshit · 23/09/2016 18:20

I had my daith done 2 weeks ago. Love it! I love your earring OP, that is so pretty. I've got 8 piercings - 5 lobe and daith, helix and forward helix. Love them!
I thought Hermione Norris looked great with the helix piercing.

Meant to say - I'm 51! Rebel!

Psyhke · 23/09/2016 18:26

Daith piercings are meant to be good as a pressure point to help with migraines too I've heard. Are they difficult to clean?

QueenofLouisiana · 23/09/2016 18:31

I've been told to soak it with warm salt water twice a day for 2 weeks, then once a day. No fiddling or twisting.

It bled when it was pierced, but stopped quickly and isn't sore. I'm stocked with ibuprofen and advised to take them to avoid the swelling.

Noshit yours looks good, hoping mine looks the same when it's healed.

This is mine, I absolutely love it! I've got to be honest though, I thought it hurt (although the earring was very fiddly to get in after it was pierced so that was maybe what was painful!)

Cartilage piercings can be a nightmare to heal. I have a rook piercing and I took the "never touch it!" advice too seriously and was a bit too hands-off even when washing. Blasting it with the shower head wasn't enough because it got infected. I then kept cleaning really meticulously and started using surgical spirit (which isn't recommended by piercers but I remember using on my earlobe piercings as a teen) and it turned out fine.

Don't sleep on that side either. For months Grin

QueenofLouisiana · 23/09/2016 18:52

Pretty heart lola, love the rainbow colours.

Thanks Queen Smile

I found my daith healed really easily compared to the rest of my cartilage piercings, I could sleep on it pretty much straight away. My tragus was another story entirely!

notevernow · 23/09/2016 20:09

I want one! and a forward helix. But I seem to be prone to granulomas - I should buy shares in chamomile teabags.

Actually my rook is fine, but my tragus is a nightmare.

JinkxMonsoon · 23/09/2016 20:23

I had a nightmare tragus too. Ended up taking it out in the end, even though I loved it. Without fail, every three or so weeks, the piercing site would swell up like a spot and ooze. It had been nearly two years!

I figured that if I got the piercing for aesthetic reasons, a red oozy piercing wasn't really what I was aiming for. It closed up super quickly too.

I would like another, maybe a conch? But I can't bring myself to endure the hassle of healing cartilage just yet.
