Would you wear last years clothes?

Sorting out my wardrobe I have so many (about 20) pieces of clothes that I bought last autumn/winter and never got round to wearing.
Luckily I tried them on and still love them but my friend said she wouldn't be seen dead in last years clothes ...
Opinions ?
Surely if the things are still in good condition what's the problem?
It's things that never go out of fashion (my wardrobe is basic central)
I'm not planning on throwing hundreds of pounds of clothes away

Are you joking?

NoCapes · 23/08/2016 20:45

She sounds cuckoo!
I wear clothes for years, I thought everyone did Confused

TheGoodEnoughWife · 23/08/2016 20:45

Ha ha ha, last years, the year before, erm, some of my clothes are 5 years old!
Not a fashion icon me!

Justmuddlingalong · 23/08/2016 20:46

I wear last decades clothes if that helps. Hmm

notamummy10 · 23/08/2016 20:47

Mate I wear clothes from when I was a teenager and still at school... I left school 7 years ago. I'm not one of these people who wastes money buying new clothes to replace the previous year's clothing.

Gmbk · 23/08/2016 20:47

WTF I wear clothes from last century.

user1471888857 · 23/08/2016 20:47

I've had my leather jacket for 10 years (no joke) and still love it..every autumn it comes out of the woodwork.
My friend is a lot more "cooler" than me.
Wanted to check I wasn't the only one

No, you have to burn everything three months after buying it.

NoFuchsGiven · 23/08/2016 20:47

Some of my clothes are from 15 years ago. Who is your friend? Victoria Beckham?

YvaineStormhold · 23/08/2016 20:47

Is she Kim Kardashian West?

ShatnersBassoon · 23/08/2016 20:47

I'm wearing clothes that I owned before I was an adult. They're from a different eon, not a different season.

DelphiniumBlue · 23/08/2016 20:47

Seriously? Who can afford to replace all their clothes every year?

Missanneshirley · 23/08/2016 20:47

Sorry not helpful.
Yes, I wear clothes from last year, and the year before and the year before....
My eldest is 9 and I wear clothes older than her.
I'm pretty skint and most of these things came 2nd hand in the 1st place.
BUT if I didn't live in the real world, yes I'd love to refresh my wardrobe every season.
Wear what you like. And buy what you can afford!

memyselfandaye · 23/08/2016 20:47

My opinion is your friend is an arse, and trying to make you feel small.

Keep the clothes and bin the "friend"

milkingmachine1 · 23/08/2016 20:47

Oh blimey, all my stuff is old! I think I bought 1 dress, 3 tops and some shorts for this summer.

Are you actually serious?

7to25 · 23/08/2016 20:47

I have some from last century.

PurpleDaisies · 23/08/2016 20:48

Seriously? How wasteful would it be to chuck out clothes after a year?

Who can honestly tell whether something is this seasons or last seasons?

NoFuchsGiven · 23/08/2016 20:48

My friend is a lot more "cooler" than me

Your 'Friend' is Rich or in debt!

HoneyDragon · 23/08/2016 20:48

My favourite jumper is over twenty years old.

user1471888857 · 23/08/2016 20:48

The only things from last year I plan on getting rid of are a cheap pair of boots that have holes in the sole Blush

I'm still wearing stuff I bought in the noughties. Hell, I have a jacket I bought for my 30th - well over a decade ago.

Does your friend think anyone actually notices or cares?

SaggyNaggy · 23/08/2016 20:48

I have jeans older than high school kids ;)

SilentlyScreamingAgain · 23/08/2016 20:48

What size is your friend?

yumamumma · 23/08/2016 20:49

I wish I could afford to throw away 20 items of clothing but I'd probably be arrested for indecent exposure. Why wouldn't you wear them?! I have items that are several years old but rarely buy any thing that's "trendy". Just black, greys and navy colours as they really don't date.
