The Hush ruched skirt.....

Is really quite awesome isn't it?

I've heard mention of it on here a few times, so picked up a striped one for a song in the sale. It's the most comfortable, flattering thing, and I wish I knew about it at the start of summer, not the end.

I've just bought a black one, for winter.

Random, pointless post really Smile

I got the black one a couple of years ago and never really got on with it. Should've sent it back really. I'm 5'6 and a size 10 so got the small and it's far too tight around the waist and rides up too much as I walk.

But I am still tempted to try again. Maybe get the bigger size this time.

Do Hush still charge for returns? It's been a while since I bought from them.

Talisin · 03/09/2016 13:37

Sometimes they do, sometimes they don't. However, they have just started selling through John Lewis so if you're near a JL or Waitrose you can get free delivery & returns that way.

EnidButton · 03/09/2016 14:29

Thanks Tal. Not near a JL but their online store is good.

TheDowagerCuntess · 03/09/2016 21:12

Wow. Is it just me? The pic that comes up on FB of the model in the skirt looks desperately unflattering. Confused

And if it looks that bad on her, what chance the rest of us....

Judydreamsofhorses · 03/09/2016 21:47

I'm wearing my wine one right now - I'm 5ft 6 and a 10/12 and think it looks good! Delighted to be back in opaques, and wearing it with a black and white stripy top and glittery black Adidas Gazelles. I got the M and think it's a perfect fit, S would have been neat on the hips.

This link will give £10 off if anyone wants to try it.

I've just ordered it. I'm hoping it's as flattering as you say. I've bit (OK quite a bit) of a tum. I've got a ruched dress from Baukjen which is rather like the Tara dress.

Judydreamsofhorses · 03/09/2016 22:22

Temporary I am hippy but with small waist/flat stomach so I was dubious about it over my giant arse, but it is genuinely a surprise hit. I can imagine it with a big slouchy jumper and flat Chelsea boots, leather biker, plus huge tartan scarf, in colder weather.

Temporaryanonymity · 03/09/2016 22:29

That's kind of what I'm thinking. Apart from my tum I'm trip of hip and arse, good thighs etc so I'm very hopeful of this!

I'm wearing the long harem trousers today, they are wonderfully comfortable, I am now contemplating another pair and I really don't need any...

What shade of burgundy is the skirt? I was going to order as I thought it was a wine/dark berry type colour but on second look it seems more browny/orange red?

Terrible description but can anyone can give me an idea before I order? CakeWine

Judydreamsofhorses · 05/09/2016 15:13

Enid it is definitely wine, but it isn't a very bright wine, if that makes sense? I'd say it's a browny wine rather than a pinky wine, quite muted. I wore it with black at the weekend, and it looked good, but I tried it with a shirt which is cream with a cactus print (dark greens) and it that contrast was better than the dark top. I also think mustard-y type shades will look great with it. I put a link up the thread for £10 off if you decide to go for it.

EnidButton · 05/09/2016 19:16

Thank you Judy. Smile I'm not totally sure I'll like the colour. I'm feeling frustrated trying to buy Autumn stuff today. Maybe I should look with fresh eyes tomorrow.

Nutellas · 05/09/2016 19:57

Would the Tara dress look shite on a size 14 with a lovely 'shelf' caused by two c-sections? I'm conscious of it drawing attention to my tummy area, which to be frank is not what I need.

needastrongone · 05/09/2016 21:29

Nutella I don't think so, it's very flattering. I have the green, but there's a black option too. The ruched skirt disguises the less than perfect parts of our bodies very well.

I wore my black and blue striped skirt today that I bought in the sale, with an over size FC navy shirt, no tights, probably for the last time this year!

Thank you, need

twocatsandatoddler · 06/09/2016 11:27

Thanks all who posted the £10 off referral above, I've just used it to order the skirt, can't remember whose I used. I'm pregnant, so I don't think I'll be able to wear it for much longer but it's just the sort of thing I've been looking for so thought I'd order anyway... I'll get wear out of it in the new year anyway!

CarmenVeranda · 06/09/2016 11:36

I ordered the dress and skirt on the strength of this thread but both have gone back, I'm 5'1 and the skirt was very short standing still never mind walking with the potential to ride up and there isn't enough fabric to pull it down without all but losing the ruched effect. The dress was burgundy and a very flat colour and the top part was shapeless. Shame really as I'd hoped for great things.

I don't, sorry woowoo.

That's a shame Carmen, I am 5ft and love the skirt and dress. Sorry you were disappointed.

Woo this code should give you £10 off, but you need to add it in as a gift voucher, not as a discount code, so on the second page as you go through the checkout.

Carmen that's such a shame - I'm 5ft 6 and find the skirt fine, but I do like things quite short. Could you wear it lower on your hips rather than on the waist?

balkanscot · 06/09/2016 19:45

CarmenVeranda, my thoughts exactly re: Tara dress!!!

I was SO looking forward to wearing it (although I did have a slight trepidation as I have to wear waist-defining clothes, otherwise I just look crap) - forest green, yum! The fabric felt lovely, the colour did as well, but it absolutely did not suit me. Not at all. 5'2" in height but the top was as I thought - too baggy/saggy, making me look like a wide square. In short, I found the skirt just a little bit too tight and the top too baggy. Sadly it is going back tomorrow.

Am off to lust after the Darcie coat at three times the price of Tara dress… Blush

CarmenVeranda · 07/09/2016 05:10

Maybe I should have bought a bigger size then. I'm a 12 and got a medium in the skirt and small in the dress. Any bigger though and the top of the dress would definitely have been too big. Maybe my arse is more lardy than I'd like to admit.

Thingsthatmakeugoummmm · 07/09/2016 05:59

I ordered this skirt with high hopes, however, it looked awful on me! Was so disappointed 😕
