I apologise for posting a link to a bitchy DM article, but it's a slow work day. And they must be freezing!

Yeah, that doesn't sound like victim-blaming at all Hmm

XiCi · 08/04/2016 17:21

I absolutely hate this every year. Just horrible. If you went to any event anywhere in the country you would find some women that were overweight and badly dressed. For the DM to actively go and search them out and plaster the all over the Internet and national press is vile. The reason for this is clearly to humiliate and degrade and I can't believe anyone could take delight in looking at those photos. Some people are fat, some people have no fashion sense, does that mean they should be publicly humiliated?
What also makes me laugh is that people are thick enough to think that all these women are from Liverpool, and use these photos to put down scouse girls. Aintree is one of the biggest race meetings in the world, hundreds of thousands of people from all over the world attend. Yet you still get comments about the fashion sense of scousers as if you can only attend if you live within a 5 Mile radius of the course. Pathetic.

Floisme · 08/04/2016 17:32

I'd love to go with my friends one day. It looks a hoot and much more fun than Ascot.

There are 364 days a year for dressing tastefully.

MitzyLeFrouf · 08/04/2016 17:32

I love this girl's skirt.

But I'd probably follow Judy Murray's lead! Grin

Apparently this woman won the Best Dressed prize. Not a very clear picture, but I'm not sure it's an outfit worthy of a £45,000 Range Rover!

What a shitty thread.

The comments about the clothes are bad enough but how many people have pointed out that some of the women are overweight?

So fucking what? Are overweight women meant to wear sacks?

It's a cliché but true - some of you are fucking ugly on the inside. And you can't change that.

Snoopydo · 08/04/2016 17:42

Agree lilac shocking and offensive comments by women about women.

Snoopydo · 08/04/2016 18:03

I genuinely didn't know women felt this way about other women ie make judgements about the way they dress, refer to the way they look as aggressive, poor, fat, even hookers.

MsBojangles · 08/04/2016 18:07

Really Snoopy, are you saying you never make a judgement based on outside appearances?

I assumed we, as humans, were all guilty of that to some degree.

ShesAGreatGas · 08/04/2016 18:09

I agree with Snoopy.

Nasty thread.

Kirriemuir · 08/04/2016 18:12

I think it sad we have to fault theses people and that the paper actively do go out to get the worst photos they can however, I do wonder if partners, mums, dads, sisters or even friends are honest before some of the girls leave the house.

Floisme · 08/04/2016 18:15

Well none of those women look sad to me. They look like they're having a fucking good time. I know who I'd rather have a night out with.

bearleftmonkeyright · 08/04/2016 18:19

I'm going to ladies day at Uttoxeter races in June. I am 45 and I shall be wearing a dress with pink flowers, silly shoes and probably a fascinator. I don't really dress up ever. If anyone posted a picture of me in the paper and said I looked like shit I would be gutted. The dress is second hand and the shoes are from a charity shop. I'm really looking forward to it.

AliciaMayEmory · 08/04/2016 18:23

You know what? I wouldn't go out dressed like that, I get too cold, but those women look like they're having a bloody brilliant time! And I know I'd rather be with the women who are having fun than with the boring ones sneering at everyone elses outfit choices, no matter how well dressed they are.

RudeElf · 08/04/2016 18:55

If anyone posted a picture of me in the paper and said I looked like shit I would be gutted.

Well dont! Opinions are like arseholes-everyone has one and they usually stink Wink

You go and have a blast, whether youre wearing a gorgeous dress or a tarpaulin. Its how you feel that makes it a good day, not what anyone else thinks of how you look.

WilburIsSomePig · 08/04/2016 19:17

I fucking hate this. No I don't like a lot of the outfits, yes some people are overweight - so fucking what. This notion of basically pointing and laughing at other women like they are beneath you is just awful.

Most of them look like they're having a laugh, so what if you don't like their dress.

lemonade30 · 08/04/2016 19:28

The way I see it the women at Aintree make themselves feel good by getting dolled up, flashing the flesh, admittedly freezing their arses off in the process, having a laugh and getting pissed.

Other women bolster their self esteem by slagging off other women, some of whom they've never met or even conversed with IRL.

I know whom my pity lies with.

Yep lemonade

Jaimx86 · 08/04/2016 19:46

Mmm. I'm not too keen on hanging out with these males and females.

RudeElf · 08/04/2016 19:48

So dont Confused

Jaimx86 · 08/04/2016 19:53

I won't!
Can't see the harm in some people frowning on some of these pics though.

Nettletheelf · 08/04/2016 19:58

I note that today the DM have posted the obligatory picture of some girls sitting on the ground surrounded by used plastic glasses and betting slips. Sub-text: these women are rubbish.

Even if my feet were falling off I wouldn't give those snide photographers the photo opportunity. I bet the same thing happens at Ascot, but they never publish pictures of that, do they?
