I've had my dispatch email from Topshop.
I can see lots of you are on the fence, just waiting to click 'add to basket'. Cough cough.

I love those Tods shoes. I also love these.

Don't carry a compact, but wish I were the type.

Yes Flo, they are runnable-in. And they give us some hope of reaching out 60s without bunions.

I'm very nearly in my sixties ididnt although no bunyons to report yet. It's very kind of some posters to offer me style advice.

I think compacts are beautiful things.

ridingsixwhitehorses · 04/02/2016 22:06

I like them!

Aren't they known usually as court shoes?

GreatAuntLavinia · 05/02/2016 10:19

Love them. Love them all, but now I'm old enough to be a nana I think they might depress me on my own feet! I had loads of shoes like this in the 90s when I did a lot of temping and had to dress smartly for work - wore them with 10 den tights, silky blouses, midi pencil skirts/long pleated skirts and boxy jackets. Wearing skinnies, biker boots and a parka to work today. Kinda miss those dressed up days of yore .... Sad

YY, exactly Kondo. Maybe mine aren't quite as blocky either. I think they look fine.

Floisme · 05/02/2016 16:01

Coffin dodger?

Fucking hell.

I suppose you're all going to tell me that was light hearted?

It's a shame as I quite like the idea of so-called 'granny chic' but if people can't talk about it without being offensive then I'm out.

amarmai · 05/02/2016 17:23

I must be older than you flo, as i've begun to make not dead yet jokes about myself , as i want to be able to speak about after i die stuff without causing offense.

Lambzig · 05/02/2016 17:41

Totally in love with those M&s snakeskin ones on the link above, but they don't seem to exist.

0pheliaBalls · 05/02/2016 18:23

MY EYES 😨

I am medically exempt from wearing high heels/nice shoes generally (RA ravaged feet) and my shoe collection is a cornucopia of hideosity but these are too far, even for me. No amount of comfort is worth that, sorry!

Ididnthearanything · 05/02/2016 20:24

I missed the delivery guy today, I've no shoes to show. Monday, aaaages away.

Coffin dodgerShock. Never heard that one before. Thing to remember is time flies, and age happens to us all. Sooner and faster that you expect.

I never wear heels but I'm actually quite temped by these!

LynetteScavo · 05/02/2016 21:09

Well I like them...yes they do have a whiff of 80s headmistress/maggie Thatcher about them ...but I had a pair of wedding shoes which were similar in 1999. I loved them.

SandunesAndRainclouds · 05/02/2016 21:18

I don't care what my shoes look like as long as Billy the Bunion is accommodated!! I await a comfort report 😊

Ididnthearanything · 05/02/2016 21:45

I'm sitting in. Of a Friday night. Looking ont'interweb. And lo! More blogs with photos of, em, bloggers, wearing the shoes. Apparently these shoes are 'whipping up a blogger-led Instagram frenzy'. Love it.

Oh they are awful...like Air Hostess shoes back in the day

I've been looking at shoes at Next online and called it the ugly shoe shop

MadameDePompom · 05/02/2016 23:48

I......kind of like those shoes.

Housemum · 06/02/2016 00:27

Erm, practical. I might consider them for work but only because I have to walk a lot, and I am currently wearing a pair of frumpy Clarks school shoe ballet pump style shoes. (My Fitbit told me I walked 7k at work today. I spent an hour in the evening in heels and my feet are aching). But they make me think of older ladies with podgy feet crammed into them.

echt · 06/02/2016 01:55

I'm over 60, and like a comfortable shoe as I'm on my feet all working days as a teacher.

I like some fugly shoes, too.

But those are fecking awful. They make me think American Tan stockings.

SwedeDreams · 06/02/2016 02:43

I love them. I'm going to buy some because I hate fucking ballet flats.

I might get a cauliflower perm too.

ChickyChickyParmParm · 06/02/2016 03:10

I can't decide whether I like them or not but this thread is thoroughly entertaining. I would wear with a pair of leather culottes, as suggested by a poster up thread.

MadameDePompom · 06/02/2016 03:20

Wouldn't you get a sweaty gusset wearing leather culottes?

Ididnthearanything · 06/02/2016 09:39

I'm sure Madame, but I'm not sure fashion designers are bothered by our comfort and sweaty or un-sweaty gussets. Wink
