They just look like normal shoes to me. I couldn't wear that big a heel!

Aramynta · 04/02/2016 16:32

I love them, but I would love them even more if the heel tapered down into a slimmer point.

BarbaraofSeville · 04/02/2016 16:34

They look like the dreadful shoes that female cabin crew have to wear.

Designed to be a compromise of looking smart, while not tortuous because they are on their feet for hours and not hindering them dealing with emergencies and probably fail on all three counts.

I will struggle not to laugh at anyone wearing them in real life outside an aircraft or airport setting.

I had some just like those in the early 90s which I wore with pleated culottes and loved them. I remember how old-fashioned narrow heels and pointy toes seemed at the time. I'm obviously getting old, because whilst I could quite happily buy and wear the shoes in the OP, you'd have to pry my pointy heels out of my cold dead hand before I stopped wearing them Grin

Agree with Aramynta. Some of them are a bit too blocky. But I think some are fine. I like the gold ones in the blog.

MeetMyCat · 04/02/2016 16:40

They just need an ankle strap, then they'd look very 'this season'!!!

HippyPottyMouth · 04/02/2016 16:40

They are my mum's shoes. My mum is 70, and a granny 9 times over. She is welcome to them.

Claraoswald36 · 04/02/2016 16:47

They are yuck but not as bad as high waisted boyfriend jeans which are beyond gross.
Is all fashion empowers new clothes now as in let's see what we can convince stupid people to wear!

LovelyFriend · 04/02/2016 16:49

look what they did to the lace-up shoe
it has been well documented that M&S have lost their freaking minds!

WitchWay · 04/02/2016 17:02

The Queen would love them Grin

Cleanermaidcook · 04/02/2016 17:09

Dear god they're horrible!

MitzyLeFrouf · 04/02/2016 17:22

Doesn't everyone carry a compact!

theDuchessInTheDodgeCharger · 04/02/2016 17:31

they could look ok on some people. But I dread to imagine what they would look like on someone short with long feet like myself. The way the front reaches very high on the foot .... not nice in big sizes.
I feel about them a bit the way I felt about the Tod's loafers a few years ago. You know the ones? with the little bumps.
shudder

You know those granny glove shoes??

Is this them on the right hand picture?

73dexter · 04/02/2016 17:38

I don't carry a compact! If I think I have something stuck in my teeth I look in my phone screen.

MitzyLeFrouf · 04/02/2016 17:48

I've been a compact devotee since my teens. Such handy and chic little things.

ginorwine · 04/02/2016 17:54

Sorry
I love them !

SwedishEdith · 04/02/2016 17:56

It the 80s I wore mine with light pink and light lilac tights Grin.

The more people are saying they hate these shoes, the more I like them. A strap across the top would be perfect.

Claraoswald36 · 04/02/2016 17:59

Alexa Chung is so smug

JustDanceAddict · 04/02/2016 18:01

Fine if you're over 60 w bunions!

lapsedorienteerer · 04/02/2016 18:07

They're just run of the mill court shoes (I am oldish!). I have 2 pairs I must have bought in early 1990's that I still wear, admittedly only once per year or so. But way back when, working in the City they were standard work wear with a suit Blush. I'm so glad I'm now going to be able to buy new versionsGrin.

venusinscorpio · 04/02/2016 18:20

I like compacts too! I am clearly a gran.

NancyJoan · 04/02/2016 19:08

I really like Topshop ones in red.

Floisme · 04/02/2016 19:29

I normally only wear flats but I quite like them, especially with crop wide legs. I don't think they're any more hideous than pointy stilletos and at least I could run for the bus in them - or even my life if the occasion required.

I quite like the whole granny chic thing. It's a different way of looking at things and not entirely serious. Any new style looks a bit weird at first. Some of the reactions on here remind me of my father watching Mick Jagger on Top of the Pops.
