My Nan tried to give me some of her old shoes like that once. If only I'd known at 13 what I know now. I just had to wait it out.

What do you wear under them? Socks would look naff but bare feet would get all sweaty

These look like some I bought a couple of years ago for a wedding when I was about 6 months pregnant. There was some trend then for ballet pumps (phone corrected that to pimps - 'ballet pimps' - to autocorrect) with block heels.

They're isn't anything terribly wrong with them IMHO, but I haven't worn mine since the wedding. They are a nude pair with a silver block heel and I don't love them. They were very comfy though so I might dig them out and have another go!

Oh and I wore tights with mine under a long (bridesmaid's) dress.

They belong with a 1980s laura Ashley floral dress, with leg of mutton sleeves and a sailor collar.

I was looking for shoes at the weekend and DH was genuinely upset I wouldn't buy a pair of the granny shoes. I had no idea they were currently in vogue, but I have to say that DH always has a bit of a thing for the more mature lady, and God knows I am quite mature enough these days without ramping it up. He thought I was being annoyingly self-deprecating to point out how frumpy I'd look in them, so it's good to feel vindicated.

'Califlower perm' made me lol. Funny thread . Fugly shoes, though.

Just remembered my long departed Granny had both the cauli perm and those shoes, along with American tan tights, M&S cardy and hanky permanently stuffed up her sleeve. And she used to wear a little see through plastic rain bonnet over her perm if the weather was inclement. And had a supply of boiled sweets in her handbag.
