Like these from Zara?? Top shop, office, h and m have them.

What do we all think? I am unashamedly on the fence. Love the heel height, An a bit Confused about the style of shoe.

Opinions?

With a slightly lower vamp they'd be fabulous. As they are, i can't quite cope.

These are the kind of shoes I'd see in a shop and think 'who on earth is going to buy them?'

Now I know.

They're comfy Amber? They look so wearable.

So the 'nays' win by a tinyWink majority. Despite the general wisdom of the posters here, I think I'll order.

I shall report back.

I like them too

I like them. I also wore similar in the 80s to give you some idea of how un-young I am.

Ballet shoes are awful though - which they'd go out of fashion forever.

Frustrated, you spoke too soon! Here's Marksies' effort, there are others. I have a ballet pump style pair (slightly lower heel) from there I got before Xmas for work. They're OK, do the business and add a bit of height which I seriously need. The Topshop ones are heinous though!

They look like a cheap version of the shoes the Queen always wears.
I say no more ...

I like them too, I'm going to raid all the local charity shops for a pair.

I like them, they suit me! And have indeed bought second hand court shoes from charity shops/ebay in the past.

It's ballet pumps which are unflattering on many people, especially with dresses/skirts, which I tend to live in. I like the slip on ease of a pump, but need a bit of a heel really (yes I do wear ballet pumps too, with jeans).

I saw the black Marks tortoiseshell heel ones the other day and was thinking about it. I am a bit out of touch recently and didn't realise these shoes were a having a moment. I think I will definitely get them.

What the hell do you wear them with? Those cropped cocking flares? Leather culottes? A nice sensible pleated polyester mid calf skirt in greige from Damart, with pussy bow blouse, tan tights and Edinburgh Wool Mill cardigan?

In what universe is there an outfit that can help pull these off?
I am so intrigued- I want to see it.

Shortish flippy black skirt and opaque tights. Take my word, it looks fine Grin not exactly cutting edge stylish, but not frumpy.

I really don't do the country lady look!

This just proves my theory that I can just wear what the fuck I want and at some point, for a random fleeting second, it will be fashionable. Like the monkey typewriter Shakespeare thing.

They are bad though!

They are fugly, awful shoes and I don't think they look good on the models which can't be a good thing.
I honestly can't think of a nice thing to say about them, sorry.

Just to let you all know, my 65 year old MIL has those m&s shoes with the funky heel and was wearing them today with the rest of her m&s classic ensemble #justsayin

I like them, they actually look good with leggings.

I look slightly like a ballet school teacher but they are flattering as they elongate the leg but are still comfy.

I think they will be here to stay.

They get my vote. Great for work and lovely with shorter trousers. I've got one pair and ready for another.

I have an unusually high tolerance for a frumpy sensible shoe, but my god, those are fucking hideous. My nan has a wardrobe of that exact style, square heel and all. Vile!

That goes for everything in M&S though, Goofy Smile

It's long been a known risk that whatever you buy, however supposedly directional, the chances of walking in somewhere and seeing an 80 year old wearing the same were fairly high.

I like them. But then I think the Queen is actually a very stylish person who is always well-dressed in her style for her life.

I'm coming to see that if the majority on S&B Hayes something then I will probably like it (see:cropped flares, wide-leg jeans) and things that are very popular I will loathe (see: boots with buckles, ballet shoes).

I'm fairly sure I don't look like a Gran, but I would look like I'd borrowed my Gran's shoes if I put those on my feet.
