I'm not sure tbh....I think they'd struggle these days against places like Superdrug and online if they brought back the old style stuff.

I bought some Vitamin E cream and it flew me back to Christmas 87 when I went to stay with my friend in Cheshire and called in the BS in Manchester and bought Vit E cream, elderflower eye gel, mint leg cream and coconut soap. Heaven.

Rather liking 87 I also bought some old Eau de Gucci from ebay yesterday because my Mum had bought me a bottle of that.

You lot are a bad influence. I'll have Bonnie Tyler big hair by the end of the week at this rate. Grin

rollonthesummer · 25/01/2016 22:30

I had Eau de Gucci- is it an old bottle you've bought-they do t make it anymore, do they?! Does it smell nice?!

MissBattleaxe · 26/01/2016 00:03

ThenLater- if the Body Shop did their old stuff again, it would be raided by women over 35 who would spend megabucks. If they brought back The Perfume Bar, it would be permanently busy. Although I do agree that Superdrug is fab these days.

ThenLaterWhenItGotDark · 26/01/2016 09:13

The Eau de Gucci is an old one, yes. The navy blue weird shaped atomiser thingy.

MissB- it would be raided by all of us reliving our youth and then we'd all slip and dislocate our aged hips on those bubble things! Grin

I had a perfume oil but I'm buggered if I can remember which one. A musky one.

rollonthesummer · 26/01/2016 10:28

That's the one! It was flat and thin and didn't stand up on its own and had a red button at the top?!

Ahhh-would love to smell it now!

I've just been into town and went into the Body Shop for a mooch. I doubled the number of people in there (me and the shop lady!) and she tried to talk to me the whole time I was there offering help. I didn't want help-I wanted to look!!

NotNowBono · 26/01/2016 10:32

My favourite Body Shop offering was Rose Musk or Roma - I remember poring over the paper list of products with my sister, working out how best to spend a tenner: Japanese Washing Grains plus a 5ml perfume oil, or a 10ml perfume oil plus Blue Ice shampoo etc. Much depended on how accurate the sales assistant was at pipetting your oil out of the glass bucket jar and into your miniscule plastic bottle. The corrosion that occurred around the neck on half my bottles didn't exactly bode well for my inner wrist, where most of it ended up.

I've got really vivid memories of the make-up ads in Just Seventeen/Look around the mid-80s when make-up companies were desperately trying to make white mascara happen. Even the models looked like startled rabbits.

There you go rollon!

I got mine for £18 (seller wanted £25 but had a make-offer button so I offered £18 and she accepted it- hope it is genuine)

rollonthesummer · 26/01/2016 11:14

This is the bottle!!

link

You have got to come back and tell me what it smells like!

Guiltypleasures001 · 26/01/2016 11:56

I remember roll on lip gloss in mint and chocolate
Sun in yes yes
Those little sachets of wash in and out hair colour
The Avon perfume with the peach top god that takes me back
Yes the block mascara
Slightly different but those sanitary towel belts grim to say the least
Cans of spray in hair dye gold silver blue and red, wonderful when it rained
I either stank of coconut body oil or white musk Confused
I still wear white musk it's my fave plus no alcohol in it so no headaches
Imperial leather soap, used to spike hair
Radix bath salts in a box?
And matey bath gel
Black cherry and heather shimmer lipstick

MissBattleaxe · 26/01/2016 12:33

I know! They follow you around and give you the sales spiel on every bottle you glance at. I hate that. Leave me alone or I'll go!

Gobbolino6 · 26/01/2016 12:37

Ooh...Dewberry, White Musk. Impulse O2. Japanese washing grains. Aapri. Blue mascara. Vanilla Musk perfume. Boots Natural Collection lip balms and Jojoba shampoo.

spankhurst · 26/01/2016 15:31

Flex is the smell of my teens.
Elderflower eye gel from the Body Shop.
Shaders and Toners.
Huge tubs of luminous green hair gel for 99p.

squizita · 26/01/2016 15:42

Linco Beer shampoo - always worked but did smell a bit of beer.

Pears (still use that).

Astral (still use that).

Avon bubble bath in the rectangular bobbly bottle.

Corn Silk powder (you can still buy it and it looks great in photos).

Gatekeeper · 26/01/2016 15:47

Boots 'Country Born' shampoo and hair gels etc. They used to do a honey and oat one that smelled wonderful

Japanese musk and woody sandalwood perfume oils from Body Shop

Wella Lifetex balsam conditioner- I found a bottle of it in Home Bargains but smells nothing like it used to in the early 80's

Superl0vely · 26/01/2016 15:59

Vo5 Motion Lotion My hair has never been the same since it was discontinued about 20 years ago.
Body shop bath things (pearls?) that left a weird bit of slimy skin stuff at the bottom of the bath.

squizita · 26/01/2016 18:40

I used to have baskets with paper fluff and those pearls and matching round soaps artfully arranged. Until they turned to slime in the bathroom steam!

ThenLaterWhenItGotDark · 26/01/2016 18:59

The bubble bath slimy balls were so innovative though. After we'd all grown up getting a numb bum from sitting in piles of scratchy Boots Lemon Grass or French Fern bath cube residue.

Morny Sandalwood soap- that's was my Mum's absolute favourite and I used to splash out on a box of 3 for her at Christmas. Whilst coveting a Moonwind glass stocking with perfume in it for myself...(Avon)

The Body Shop did a fabulous cream compact foundation in the early 90s.Sponged on. It was lovely.

madmomma · 26/01/2016 19:55

Ooh a sachet of linco beer was a real treat to 13 yr old me!

madmomma · 26/01/2016 19:58

Grolsh beer tops on shoes!!!

LaundryFairy · 26/01/2016 20:12

I remember getting pins from Avon that had a compartment of solid perfume in them. Loved them when I was about 6.
